Jason’s POV
I was clad in a black pantsuit and I was caught between sleeping in them after a good bottle of wine or taking up Freyja on her challenge and actually showing up at her place to pick her up.
Either ways it seemed like she won’t be bothered, she had manipulated me into finding it difficult to make the easier decision which was in this case, sleep home and have a good drink, but now I was feeling like I was not man enough because I didn’t want to pose as her boyfriend to her ex boyfriend.
I was thankful for the series going on and on on the TV because otherwise my violent groans would have bothered the neighbors. Not like I cared though, I just didn’t want to create false alarms.
“Shit,” I muttered as my drink lopsided and spilled all over the chair and down to the floor. I watched the burgundy liquor stream down the chair and my crazy mind went elsewhere.
I thought of Evelyn for the first time in months, I had been preoccupied with the hospital and Molly. I wasn’t an optimist but even I had the slightest filet of hope that she was going to be alright.
The doorbell rang and my head shot up, had the neighbors heard them after all? I tiptoed to the door and stood behind it making sure only my head was visible.
I swung it opened and a hand thumped my head, I stared into Freyja’s daring eyes and she smiled back at me.
“Coward!” She snapped as she pushed the door and walked in, she was in a hot black dress and her long limbs were slim and graceful beneath the slit. Her cleavage was out and her lips were a contrasting red, inviting and seductive.
“Damn,” I couldn’t help but mutter and I caught the glint in her life before she continued her tour of the house. I watched as her hands lingered on the sofa and then moved on to the little wine set I kept on a shelf.
I did the most unimaginable by imagining her hands running through my body in that same manner, seductive and lingering. I didn’t register immediately what that meant but it sank in
I wanted her.
“Why are you staring like you’re out of words? Where is your sense?” She asked me and I was slowly withdrawn from my uncanny thoughts.
I hissed, sucking my teeth before I stood up.
“So you don’t only bribe me into being your date, you bully and manipulate me into doing your dirty business. How do you take the oaths everyday and survive to see the next? You’re as evil as they come.” I said to her, referring to the medical community and she rolled her eyes, my groin cried out for mercy at the gesture.
“You and I both know you are excited to pretend to be my boyfriend and that’s more reasons why I’m wondering why you’re still naked. I’ve seen better bodies,” she jabbed and I smiled, I moved quickly to her and managed to pin her to the wall.
I hoped my scent penetrated her senses half as much as hers was doing to my own.
I allowed my hands to trail her jawline and down to the curve of her lips. “You do know that I can tell when your wings are ruffled. They are now, don’t try to pretend otherwise with your false defenses. I know you want me.”
For the first time since I have known her, Freyja Langdon was quiet.
The grandfather clock ticked loudly and the tension between us could be sliced. It was so thick and……. hot.
She was saved by a cup, the same one that had spilled liquor all over my clothes now fell to the ground with a satisfying crash.
She finally shook from the spell and pushed me off “It just confirmed that you’re delusional, get off me and get your shirt on, the party starts soon!” She ordered, grateful to be back on the correct path.
I chuckled and went in to change.
The roller coaster only just began and she wasn’t aware of it.
I put on a black shirt to go with my pant and didn’t even bother to stand in front of the mirror. I tucked it in and slid on the first sef of shoes I could reach.
I picked up a coat and sprayed a little scent on my outfit.
I heard my TV volume increase and I groaned at her audacity, well she was different from Evelyn in that aspect, and a million other aspect too though.
I ran my hands through my hair and was comforted when I felt that persistent lock fall over my forehead.
“Oh my goodness,” she gasped as I walked in, her eyes roamed around me and I had to commend her on her bodmbess in giving out due compliments.
“Say it,” I urged her as I walked over to close the curtain.
“You’re so damn attractive. How can we trust the life of patients in your sexy hand?” She asked me and I found it absurd so I laughed.
“Well you’re trusting me not to screw up your revenge strategy with your ex lover so I think you actually do trust me.” I responded and she giggled, it sounded odd bursting out from her mouth.
“Are you ready to go?” She asked me as she gathered herself together. Picking up her bag I didn’t know she had dropped.
“Just a minute, I don’t want to go and return to see that my house has been raided.” I responded and walked off to the kitchen.
I closed my back door and put on the TV and when I returned from my home runs she was standing by the door, looking feral and breathtaking.
“Tell me we’re done,” she groaned as I moved closer to her.
“Yes, you know this is for Molly though.” I teased and she laughed.
“Of course!”
I stared at her as she walked away and I had to remind myself that she wasn’t as she seemed at all. Her secrets were as great as mine and maybe tonight was time to uncover it.
