JASON
There were at least a dozen different kinds of sex. There was sweet, sensual love making, Rough, hard fucking. There were casual quickies and emotions interlude, and every shade of intimacy in between.
After twenty four years on earth I thought I had experienced every type of sex possible. Until Evelyn.
I didn’t even know what to call what we did. Sex seemed too bland and generic a description. It had been something rawer, more primal. Something that dug deep into the nest of thorns hidden in the pits of my consciousness and yanked them out for the world to see.
Every shadow and jagged pieces of me, laid bare.
This was not the first time having sex with Evelyn, but this was the first time doing it with Red.
Red…
A new personality she unlocked. I hadn’t taken it easy on her so she could feel my fury and anger. I missed her so much and I couldn’t bring myself to say it because she wouldn’t remember.
Evenly has unlocked a darker version of me than I thought I’m capable of, and now that it was out, I wasn’t sure I could ever put it back in.
It should have been terrifying, but it was liberating. The greatest high I’d ever experienced.
Evelyn and I hadn’t spoken a word after I left that night. But now my need for another hit consumed me.
“Earth to Jason,” Alex snapped his fingers in front of my face. “Are you here or are you already in New Zealand,” he teased.
I forced myself back to reality, it was one of the rare days we both sat down to catch up on things.
“Yeah,” I sipped my water, wishing it were something stronger. Was it too early to start drinking? It was five o’clock somewhere, right? “I wish I was in New Zealand. I can’t fucking wait.”
“It’ll be fun.” Alex ripped off a piece of his bread and popped it in his mouth.
“Just make sure to bring me back a Lord of the Rings souvenir or I’ll never forgive you.” He said as a sharp glint crossed his eyes
“You don’t even like Lord of the Rings. You fell asleep halfway through the first movie.” I reminded him. Alex was never a fan of such.
The things he likes doing; Women. Killing. And, establishing more businesses
“Yes, but you can’t go to New Zealand without bringing back a LOTR souvenir. It’s inhumane.”
“Inhumane. I don’t think that word means what you think it means,” I said, citing one of our favorite movies.
If there is one movie I and Alex loved then it was the Princess Bride show, and we are not even ashamed of it.
On this day, we are preparing for my trip. I have been posted to one of the Famous hospitals in Zealand. I only have two days to spend here in Miami.
Two days until my trip, I was so pumped, but I couldn’t summon the desire to talk about it. I was too distracted by the thoughts of Evelyn.
Alex made a face “Whatever, speaking of which. What time did you sleep on Wednesday night? You weren’t responding to any of your texts.”
I had answered his texts the next morning, but I was hoping he wouldn’t ask since we had tentative plans to watch the latest Marvel movie together.
Catching up on old time.
“Sorry, I was so tired that I needed to sleep early,”
What would Alex say if he knew I had slept with one of the workers , a new employee.
Nothing good, I bet. He was fiercely protective of his workers, but Evelyn was my mate. I should be more protective of her.
“Vague answer.” He commented.
“What was your business with the lady you employed on Wednesday?” I asked as I twisted my head uncomfortably.
“What do you mean what’s my business,” this wasn’t a question or maybe it was a rhetorical question. “She is working there, what other business do you want us to have?” He asked as he squinted his suspicious eyes.
“It was as if you were attached to her. Like you couldn’t take your eyes off her,” I pointed out what I had noticed.
“Mm. I like her hair. It makes her look like Jules the Rabbit.
I don’t even know her name,”
“She’s Ev–” I stopped talking immediately I realized I was about to slip off.
“She’s beautiful, I know.” Alex completed.
He kept quiet for some time before he continued. “I named her Red, the name suits her,”
I had the urge to spit out the whisky in my mouth, it took a lot of difficulty for me to be able to swallow the drink.
“Red,” I repeated the name. Now, I dislike the name more than ever.
Another man is nicknaming my girl? Anger and fury was evident in my eyes as I glared at Alex who was busy with his phone.
“I left the Park so I could pursue my career of being a doctor. You didn’t ask me why,”
Alex raised his head to stare at me for a while before he chuckled softly; “true, I never did. I was respecting your decision, I didn’t want to question you.”
“Some months back, the moon goddess gave me a mate,” Alex dropped his phone immediately as his eyes shone with surprise
“Tell me you didn’t reject her, Alpha.”
“I didn’t, neither did she.” I said as a sad smile graced my lips.
“On the day of the mating ceremony, she suddenly became mad. She wasn’t composed, it was as if her body was on fire, you know the worst thing? She couldn’t remember me and my people.
She was…lost.” I wondered if I used the right word.
Alex’s face was blank, but I knew he was not very happy with what happened. “You didn’t ask your seer?” He asked.
“I did, of course. He only said it was a curse, and there is no way she could be treated,”
“Where is she now?”
I kept quiet for sometime as I held his gaze ” she is the lady you employed on Wednesday,”
Alex paused for minutes as he deepened his gaze on me. “Seriously?” He asked, looking more serious.
“Yes, her name is Evelyn. Evelyn Silvermane.”
“She’s a werewolf? I didn’t perceive her.” Alex said
“Human. She is human.”
“Now why are you telling me this Jason?”
“I do not like the fact that you nicknamed my woman-”
“Your woman? Someone who doesn’t recognise you?”
“It doesn’t change the fact that she is my woman, Alex. We are still mated.”
The peaceful aura was no more peaceful, it was tense!
“Do you have a thing for my girl?” I asked him with my suspicious eyes sizing him.
“Nonsense!” He hissed.
“So why are you finding it a big deal?”
“Your girl styled her hair in my salon, and didn’t pay. That was why I employed her so she could work here till she pays off her debt.”
“I want her to stay there till I return.”
“Excuse you?!”
“I wouldn’t want her rounding the whole Miami, I don’t want to find my girl when I return Alex,”
Although Alex is known for his wild trait, he also knows how dangerous I can be when I want something.
He forced out a smile as he bowed, “Yes, Alpha.” He teased me.
The tense room suddenly lightened again.
Simple life!
Alex left for other business, while I walked to the subway to enter a train going to anywhere in particular.
I just needed to clear my head.
I tapped my fingers against my thigh, restless. It was too late to go hiking.
Maybe I could ring up some old college friends, see if they were free to hang out that night.
Or you can see Evelyn again.
My teeth clenched. Goodness, what was wrong with me? It’d been a fuck. A great one, but a fuck nonetheless. I shouldn’t be this obsessive about it after one night together.
But then she is my woman, and I missed her.
I took out my phone and pulled up a travel guide for New
Zealand, determined to erase a certain redhead from my mind. It didn’t work.
Every time I saw a waterfall, I pictured fucking Evelyn under it.
Every time I saw a restaurant, I pictured us eating there together like a goddamn couple that we were supposed to be.
Every time I saw a hike, I pictured… well, you got the idea.
“Fuck…” I was going insane.
The woman seated next to me with her young daughter pinned me with a glare before she moved them both farther down the train.
Normally, I would’ve apologized, but I was too annoyed to offer more than an apologetic grimace.
There was only one way to get Evelyn off my mind. I didn’t like it, but it was the only solution I had.
The train stopped and all passengers alighted at Hazelburg. I headed straight to a local clubhouse at the corner of the tiny street.
This place was for the hoodlums, a place where a responsible person shouldn’t be.
I went straight to the bar counter, as I sat there looking for my prey.
“Hello, handsome,” a female voice sounded behind me.
Don’t look back
The lady came to stand at my front. “I’m Selene,” she introduced herself.
“Jas,” I said in return.
“Mm?” She was obviously confused at the name. “Never heard a name like it before,” she stated.
“Now, you have.” She slid her hand to my chest as though she wanted to see if I had enough strength for whatever game she wanted to pull.
“What do you say we drink and get drunk,” she proposed.
“Alright,”
She walked to the bartender and whispered something into his ears, my eyes darkened immediately as I glared hard at her.
She walked back to me as she caressed my cheek, “you are one of a kind, never seen anything like you before.”
Obviously, it wasn’t a compliment. There was something attached to that word, something I can’t really point out.
In no time, the bartender brought two different drinks to us. There was red wine, and there was…. this one I haven’t seen it before.
She gulped down the red wine at once as she handed the strange drink to me.
“I only take red wine,” I said to her.
“Sadly, this is the only one left. I never knew you liked red wine, too.”
“Tsk,” I kissed my teeth.
Don’t drink. My wolf said.
