“So you’re actually going?” Ingrid asked watching me fold last night’s clothes and place them in my suitcase.
I laughed bitterly. “Like I have a choice.” I zipped my suitcase shut and huffed loudly.
Ingrid came over to me and hugged me tightly, catching me off guard, but I was soon hugging her back.
“I’m sorry about yesterday.” She apologized.
I smiled at her apology. “It’s alright, I know you didn’t mean it.”
“I just want to see you happy with Theodore, and he’s a great guy, although I’ve never met him.” She complained.
“Haha, trust me you don’t want to meet him, and he is not a great guy, far from it actually; and he terrifies me, not make me happy.” I told her bluntly watching her wince at my answer.
“Pssh, you just don’t know him, yet.” She defended, causing my eyes to narrow in anger.
“I’m glad I don’t know him! I don’t even want to know him, and why the hell are you taking his side?”
“Oh, you so want to know him. If your flushed reaction was anything to go by after he ‘kissed’,” she air-quoted the word, “you, then I know for sure that you want to be close to him, in every sense of the way.” She replied cheekily, wiggling her eyebrows at me, causing me to grab a pillow and throw it at her face.
Her mouth dropped in shock as she held the pillow that slapped her face a couple of seconds ago and looked at me. I couldn’t contain my laughter and started laughing at seeing her expression. However, my laughter didn’t last long, as after a minute the shock looked turned into a wicked smirk, that clearly said, you-don’t-wanna-mess-with-me. She charged at me causing me to yelp and run out of the room with her following me. I ran and hid myself inside Ingrid’s bathroom. I gasped for breath but it was difficult to breathe as I kept laughing in between inhales. There was a sudden knock on the bathroom door which had me jumping in fright.
“Open up, Lee. I know you’re in there. Don’t think you can get away from me.” Ingrid threatened jokingly, causing another fit of laughter to escape me.
“I’m not gonna come out until you say you won’t hit me with the pillow.” I told her, mentally getting ready to spend hours in the bathroom. I gazed around the marble floored bathroom and found a tub. Perfect, I’ll sleep here for the night. Moving on I saw the toilet with the lid down. That would make the perfect chair to sit and read. I panicked slightly when I thought about what I would do about food, but when I saw the toothpaste standing proudly inside a glass container, I sighed in relief. Yes, I would eat toothpaste if I got hungry.
“Okay fine, I won’t hit you. You can come out.” Ingrid replied from outside the door. I was surprised she gave up the fight so easily, but felt incredibly happy knowing I wouldn’t have to eat toothpaste for dinner.
I hurriedly walked over to the door and unlocked it. Just as I came out a pillow slammed in my face, causing a muffled “umph” to escape. I held the pillow in my hands and stared at the culprit with murder in my eyes. Ingrid stood outside of her bedroom door, grinning at me victoriously.
“I can’t believe you fell for that. You are so gullible, you actually thought I would let you go that easily. Hmm, you know being gullible wouldn’t get you anywhere, other than in trouble; especially with Theodore. But we all know where exactly you want to get to when it comes to Theodore.” She uttered then yelp and ran away when she saw me coming at her with the pillow in my hand ready for attack.
“You are so dead!” I yelled and ran after her.
After our pillow fight, we spent the rest of the day together just watching movies and eating one thing or the other. We talked about everything, but what was weird was that most of the conversation revolved around Theodore. I didn’t know whether it was my fault, or Ingrid’s but we basically talked about things regarding Theodore. What he liked, disliked, enjoyed, detested. I obviously had no information on anything Theodore related except for the fact that he was a powerful, rich and a dangerous man, but that didn’t stop Ingrid from imagining our wedding, honeymoon and even babies! But weirdly, I actually liked the idea of Theodore and I together.
Some time around after midnight, when Ingrid and I were watching Now You See Me, Ingrid’s phone started ringing. She jumped at the sound but hurriedly grabbed her phone from the coffee table and frowned at seeing the unknown number, but accepted the call.
“Yes?” She said.
“Uh, huh-” she looked at me with wide eyes, but continued talking to the person on the other line. Seeing her expression had me worrying on what in the world was going on, and who was she talking to.
“Okay-”
“Yup, I will-”
“Yes, at 7:00 am-”
“Okay, bye.” She hung up, grabbed the remote and turned off the TV.
“What the hell?! Who was that on the phone? And why did you turn off the TV, I was watching that.” I demanded.
“Theodore called.” She said and the name alone had my skin in goosebumps.
“What?” I breathed out.
“Yup, and he told me that if you’re awake then to make sure you go to bed, and I have to wake you up at 7:00 am tomorrow, so you can get ready for your flight.” She told me with a smile.
“Why would he call you? And how come he has your number?” I enquired.
Ingrid shrugged. “I don’t know how he got my number, but he has it, however, he has told me to make sure you sleep, so you can get plenty of rest.” She told me, like Theodore calling her to tell her to make sure I slept was a regular thing.
“And you agreed?! Just like that?!” I asked, bewildered.
She shrugged in response. “Yes, now go to bed, it’s obviously getting late.” She said and begun picking up the left over boxes of take out.
I growled in frustration before stomping my foot and storming off to my bedroom. “Good night, mom!” I bid Ingrid goodnight. Yes, it was childish, but I was pissed.
I really didn’t like Theodore, but he seemed to have no intention of leaving me alone.
Oh God, what was I going to do?
