Despite its massive size, the snake moved with incredible speed, swift as the wind.
Quentin remained calm, a cold smile playing on his lips. To him, it was nothing more than a mere serpent.
With a sneer, Quentin shielded Cerys and instead of retreating, he advanced towards the snake.
“Quentin, be careful!” Cerys shouted in concern, reaching out but unable to stop him.
Man and serpent collided in mid-air. Quentin’s blade moved faster, slicing through the snake’s belly in one swift motion.
Quentin landed lightly on the ground. Even though the snake’s body was covered in sharp scales, they were no match for Quentin’s powerful strike.
The snake suddenly halted in mid-air, split in two. Green blood gushed out as its head and tail writhed and squirmed on the ground, a terrifying sight.
Quentin stepped forward and delivered another blow to the snake’s head. Moments later, it lay still, completely lifeless.
“In just an instant, he killed the impenetrable Green Agkistrodon with a single stroke!” Harry was astounded, his eyes filled with admiration for Quentin. “Even our Miao Territory warriors fear these venomous creatures, yet Quentin dispatched it so effortlessly…”
“Remarkable.”
“Quentin, are you alright? You scared me! You’re truly amazing, far stronger than our Miao Territory’s rough warriors.”
Cerys spoke with admiration, checking Quentin for any injuries with great concern.
“I’m fine, don’t worry,” Quentin replied with a faint smile.
“Alright, let’s continue searching for the White Dragon Beard,” Eileen said, preparing to lead the group forward.
“Eileen, wait a moment.”
“Can I collect the venom from the Green Agkistrodon? If I bring it back to my mother, she could create a potent antidote that would greatly benefit our villagers.”
Cerys asked, her tone slightly pleading. She worried that Quentin and Eileen might think she was hindering their search for the White Dragon Beard.
“Quentin, actually my mother is the best healer in all of Miao Territory. She has created many antidotes.”
“No matter which Miao Village someone is from, if they’re poisoned, they come to my mother for treatment. She has saved almost everyone, so she is highly revered in Miao Territory.”
Harry explained.
“I see. Since it will help Miao Village, go ahead and collect it,” Quentin said with understanding.
Although Quentin agreed, Cerys hesitated, frowning and afraid to approach the snake.
“What’s wrong?” Eileen noticed Cerys’ discomfort and asked with concern.
“I… I’m afraid to touch the snake,” Cerys admitted, her face flushed with embarrassment.
“I’ll help you.”
Eileen stepped forward and confirmed that the decapitated Green Agkistrodon was indeed lifeless. She took out a bottle and collected about half of its venom from its fangs before handing it to Cerys.
Instead of being annoyed by Cerys’ timidity, Quentin and Eileen found her genuine and endearing.
“Thank you, Eileen,” Cerys said happily, hugging Eileen. “You’re really brave.”
“You’re welcome…” Eileen replied shyly. Back in the Northern Territory, she had lost count of the people who had died by her hand, let alone snakes. Being praised by this young girl made her feel bashful.
After collecting the venom, the four continued their search for the White Dragon Beard.
They reached a deep mountain area where they could faintly hear the sound of flowing water. Following the sound, they arrived at a clearing surrounded by glowing moths that softly illuminated the area.
Not far away was a small spring pool. The water surface was calm and clear, with spring water trickling down from a crevice above into the pool. The environment was damp and cool, and the air was exceptionally fresh, bringing a sense of peace and comfort.
At that moment, Cerys excitedly pointed to a spot beside the pool. “Quentin, look!”
“That’s what we’ve been searching for-the White Dragon Beard!”
