The mine tunnel was full of pits and troughs, clearly the work of miners. It was dim and very damp inside. The tunnel was not very tall, forcing Chris Shelby to stoop as he moved forward. Along with Harold Jefferson, they came across many collapsed areas. At one point, a large boulder blocked Chris Shelby’s path.
With a worried frown, Harold Jefferson asked, “Mr. Shelby, what should we do now?”
Chris Shelby approached the boulder, clenched his fist, and with a fierce punch, smashed it. Bang! The sound was thunderous, and the boulder shattered into pieces. Harold Jefferson was completely stunned. For someone of Harold Jefferson’s Grandmaster level to be unable to move the boulder, and then to see Chris Shelby shatter it with a single punch, was unbelievable.
Without wasting words, Chris Shelby continued forward. Suddenly, a faint voice was heard. Chris exclaimed with joy, “Someone’s alive!”
“Mr. Shelby, there are people here too!” At the same time, Harold Jefferson also heard other voices and shouted urgently, “It seems many are still alive!”
Relieved, Chris Shelby called out loudly, “I’m Chris Shelby, here to rescue you. Are you all okay?”
Soon, an excited voice responded from inside, “Mr. Shelby, we are trapped! Several people have been crushed by rocks, many are injured, and the rocks are blocking our way out!”
Hearing this, Chris Shelby reassured them, “Don’t be afraid, I will get you out!”
Seeing that most of the trapped individuals were alive, both Chris Shelby and Harold Jefferson were visibly excited. Chris Shelby told Harold, “We must clear these rocks, or they won’t last much longer.”
Harold nodded in agreement, and they began to move the rocks. Meanwhile, villagers from Jefferson Village followed into the cave. Despite the dangers inside, no one was afraid; the trapped were their kin.
Quickly, hundreds gathered inside the mine. Seeing Chris Shelby and Harold Jefferson moving rocks, they joined in. After an hour of collective effort, they finally cleared the tunnel and began rescuing the trapped miners. Soon, about fifty to sixty miners were rescued, though dozens more remained trapped.
The mining disaster quickly drew significant attention. In a short time, Jefferson Village was nationally recognized. Tiger, leading thousands of East Coast Guards, arrived at the village. Following Chris Shelby’s orders, they immediately started the rescue operation. The mine entrance was cleared by the East Coast Guards, and eventually, all trapped miners were rescued.
At that moment, numerous ambulances gathered at the mine entrance. Those injured were quickly taken to hospitals. Meanwhile, Chris Shelby and the others walked out of the mine. The disaster attracted many media reporters. Seeing Chris Shelby and Harold Jefferson emerge safely, Marie, with tears in her eyes, said, “Mr. Shelby, brother, you’re finally safe!”
Harold Jefferson smiled and said, “This time, we owe it all to Mr. Shelby; otherwise, we couldn’t have saved so many people.”
Marie looked at Chris Shelby with a face full of gratitude and said, “Mr. Shelby, on behalf of the villagers of Jefferson Village, I thank you.”
Chris Shelby waved his hand and replied, “Don’t mention it, it’s all in a day’s work.”
At that moment, at the Greensands provincial residence, Greenie slowly opened her eyes. The bed bore many traces, and a strange scent filled the air. Samons, the leader of Greensands, sat at the bedside smoking a cigarette. Greenie walked over, cooing, “Samons!”
Samons turned his head, smiled at Greenie, and asked, “Darling, what is it?”
Just as Greenie was about to speak, a loud noise erupted from outside.
Bang!
The door was kicked open, and Chris Shelby, followed by Tiger and others, stormed in.
Samons, with a face ashen with rage, cursed, “Are you blind? This is the residence of the Greensands leader! Who are you to barge into my home?”
Chris Shelby, with an indifferent expression, asked, “Are you the Greensands leader, Samons?”
Samons, stern-faced, replied, “Yes! I am the leader of Greensands, Samons. What do you want with me?”
Without a word from Chris Shelby, Tiger stepped forward and bellowed, “Blind your eyes! You stand before the King of the East Coast!”
As if struck by thunder, Samons gaped at Chris Shelby, disbelief written all over his face, “You are the King of the East Coast?”
Samons certainly knew who that was-the supreme ruler of the entire East Coast, before whom even the East Coast Governor dared not misbehave.
Merely a leader of Greensands, how had he drawn the attention of such a figure?
Samons quickly stood up, bowing respectfully, “I am at your service, King of the East Coast. What brings you to my humble abode?”
Chris Shelby glanced at Samons and stated flatly, “Samons, as the leader of Greensands, you have shown disregard for human life, allowed the village chief of Jefferson Village, David, to mine coal illegally, causing a severe mine disaster. I am here to arrest you by law!”
“Arrest him!”
“At once!”
With that command, the East Coast Guards swiftly moved forward and apprehended Samons.
At this point, Samons, pale as death, knew he was doomed.
Samons struggled and shouted, “You can’t arrest me! I am the leader of Greensands; you can’t do this! Let me see the East Coast Governor!”
Being a subordinate of the East Coast Governor, now his only hope lay in salvation from above.
Hearing Samons’ words, Chris Shelby scoffed with disdain.
What East Coast Governor? Before him, that was nothing.
Samons trying to use the East Coast Governor to intimidate him was a joke.
Chris Shelby waved his hand, “Take him away!”
Following that, Samons was dragged away like a dead dog.
Chris Shelby then turned to Greenie, “Greenie, as the wife of the leader of Greensands and in collusion with your father, the village chief of Jefferson Village, David, for embezzlement and bribery, you are also under arrest.”
The East Coast Guards then took Greenie into custody.
Greenie, unprepared for her husband, the formidable leader of Greensands, being arrested, broke down in tears, overwhelmed by the prospect of impending imprisonment.
Stepping out of the Greensands residence, Chris Shelby said to Tiger, “Tiger, this mining disaster in Jefferson Village has had a very negative impact! I demand that this time, no matter who is involved, we let no one off.”
