Book:Taming Queen Mafia Published:2024-8-27

IN great melancholy, Jeremy sank into his seat, the weight of Jasira’s revelations heavy on his mind. The familiar surroundings offered little comfort as he replayed her words over and over again.
Redford, the mafia, attempts on his life- all hidden beneath the facade of their friendship and relationship.
It was hard to reconcile the Jasira he knew- the loyal, dependable loving woman he fell in love with- with the woman who had been entangled in a world of danger and deceit.
He couldn’t shake the feeling of betrayal, even though he understood her motives were driven by the love she had for him, and by desperate bid for freedom.
As the seconds crawled into minutes and minutes into hours, Jeremy wrestled with conflicting emotions. Part of him wanted to confront Jasira immediately, to demand answers to the questions swirling in his mind.
Yet another part hesitated, fearing he might look vulnerable and easily accessible to her.
Jasira on her own part couldn’t say no more, she instead kept mute and waited to get a go ahead from him. Releasing the burdens of her heart out seemed like the best thing that has happened to her, she felt so free and at ease.
“I can’t believe all of this, Jasira,” Jeremy found his words,” his voice barely above a whisper. “Redford, the attacks… You have been protecting me all this time?”
Jasira nodded, her gaze steady. “Yes, Jeremy. I didn’t choose this life, life offered me what it had for me and I took it. Keeping you safe became more than just a job- it became a mission to me.”
Jeremy sighed, running a hand through his hair.
“And your uncle Zach, you trying to tell me now that he has been the one trying to force me into partnering with his company huh?”
Jasira nodded.
“It is so sad he is.”
“Hold on, you mean the one who tried to rape you?”
“Yeah.”
“Wow! So you trying to tell me that you betrayed your uncle in order to keep me safe?”
She sighed.
“Good people don’t deserve to die.”
The sincerity in her words struck a chord within him, stirring a mixture of gratitude and disbelief. He wanted to trust her, to believe that her intentions had always been noble, but doubts lingered like shadows in the corners of his mind.
“I need time to process all of this,” Jeremy admitted, his voice tinged with regret.
“I’m grateful for everything you have done, but I can’t pretend this still doesn’t change things between us.”
Jasira nodded silently, her eyes brimming with unshed tears.
“I understand, Jeremy. I never expected forgiveness, only the chance to be honest with you.”
They sat in silence for a while longer, the weight of their unspoken words hanging between them. Finally, Jeremy spoke again, his tone softer now.
“The pains and disappointment gnawing at me at this moment is so hot that it can boil an egg,” he said, “I want you to leave me,” he added and looked away.
Jasira nodded, a small smile touching her lips despite the ache in her heart.
“Thank you for listening, Jeremy. For giving me this chance.”
With a heavy heart, Jeremy watched as Jasira stood to leave. He wanted to reach out, to pull her into a reassuring embrace, but he knew they both needed space to process everything that had been revealed.
As Jasira walked away, Jeremy couldn’t help but feel a pang of loss. Their relationship had been built on trust and mutual respect, yet now it hung in the balance, tested by secrets and revelations neither of them had anticipated.
Jasira, though really sad at the turn out of events, was happy that at least, she was able to tell him everything. With little tears streaming down her face, she hurried into her car and zoomed off into the dark street.
Alone in the quiet warehouse, Jeremy reflected on the fragile thread that now connected him to Jasira. Despite the uncertainty of their future, one thing remained clear: he had survived countless dangers, thanks to her unwavering vigilance and courage. And for that, he knew, he would always be grateful, but for that of Mr. Redford, no, he was never going to take it lightly.
***Next Morning***
Jeremy’s anger simmered as he parked his car outside Mr. Redford’s imposing mansion. He had to confront the man whose schemes had threatened his life and contributed to shattering his trust in Jasira.
“Jeremy,” Mr. Redford greeted with false warmth. “To what do I owe this unexpected visit? I thought you wouldn’t come again”
Jeremy’s voice was low and controlled, masking the fury beneath. “You have been trying to manipulate my life, endangering me and those around me. Your games end here.”
Mr. Redford’s expression hardened, his usual composure slipping slightly. “I don’t know what you are talking about.”
“Oh, don’t play dumb with me,” Jeremy snapped, his patience wearing thin.
“I have been told everything- about your attempts to kidnap me, about the threats you posed. I trusted you, Redford, and you betrayed that trust in the worst possible way.”
Mr. Redford’s face paled, the mask of indifference cracking under Jeremy’s accusations.
“You have no proof,” he retorted, though his voice wavered.
“I don’t need proof,” Jeremy countered sharply.
“I know enough to sever all ties with you and your family this minute. Consider this my resignation from your company and my disassociation from your family. Stay away from me.”
Mr. Redford stood speechless, at this juncture, Amelia sneaked in. She had seen Jeremy’s car parked outside and immediately rushed in.
“Je-remy, you can’t do this, you can’t end all things just now because of some mere words you heard,” Mr. Redford said.
Jeremy scoffed.
“Mere words you say? Seriously? You attempted to kidnap me, in order to manipulate me to marry your daughter, or was it the threats you sent me?”
Amelia gasped, her hands cupped over her mouth, her eyes widened in shock.
“Look Mr. Read my lips, all relationships and business I have with you and your family is hereby severed with immediate effect, I don’t want to have anything to do with you again.”
With those final words, Jeremy turned on his heel and strode out of the study, leaving Mr. Redford speechless and seething with rage, Amelia totally speechless.
Outside, the cool evening air did little to calm Jeremy’s racing thoughts. He had cut ties with the man who had been a mentor, a father- or so he had thought.
