AMELIA stood frozen, her eyes wide open with disbelief as her gaze met with that of the woman hugging Jeremy, her Jeremy from behind, and calling him ‘babes’.
The revelation was so shocking, so obvious, loud and clear, this woman was no other but Jasira, aka Boss J, the mafia queen, the right hand man of Lord Lucario, the boss of The Mambas Organization. Yes, it was her, they have had an encounter in the past.
Memories of the previous encounters flashed through her mind in a flash, each one more humiliating than the last. Encounters which had humiliated her, made Jeremy to get her do things that ordinarily, she would never do.
This woman who had made her life a living hell was now standing here, arms wrapped around the man she had been desperate to ensnare.
As for Jasira, she was engulfed in her own moment of terror and torment as well. Why the hell had she come out of the kitchen? Why didn’t she look properly before taking a step? This was Amelia, his supposed fiancee. This lady knows her inside out and who in her shoes wouldn’t spill?
Slowly, she unwrapped her arms from Jeremy and took a stand beside him, ready for whatever Amelia was going to bring.
“You?” Amelia shouted, pointing her right hand at her. Jeremy quickly shot her a stare.
“What are you doing here?” Amelia’s voice trembled with rage and disbelief. “How dare you show your face here, Jasira? So you are the woman in his life huh?”
Jasira’s eyes narrowed, a smirk playing on her lips.
“Amelia, always a pleasure to see you. Though I can’t say the feeling is mutual.”
Amelia scoffed, a weak laugh splitted her face.
“You must think I am joking. So after everything, it is my man that you want to end up with right? My Jeremy, you must be insane,” she said and rushed forward to spur for a fight and immediately, Jeremy stepped in, holding Amelia as she kept on ranting and raging.
“Aren’t you ashamed of yourself Amelia?” Jasira asked, “go get a life and leave who doesn’t want you alone,” she added, trying her possible best to be calm.
Amelia laughed, trying in vain to break loose from Jeremy’s grip.
“Really? You want to claim my man, you murderer -.”
“What!” Both Jeremy and Jasira gasped.
“You killer!” Amelia kept on raging.
“Amelia!” Jeremy called.
By now, the maids who were in the kitchen were now by the door of the kitchen, overlooking the little drama in the living room. Jeremy was embarrassed, he couldn’t take it anymore.
Glancing between the two women, his expression hardened. He had expected tension, but not this level of animosity.
“Amelia, that is enough,” he said firmly. “Guards!” He shouted and immediately, they were surrounded by two guards.
“Escort Miss Amelia out of the building,” he said and her eyes widened in shock and disbelief.
“No!” She screamed, her voice echoing through the living room as the guards stepped forward.
“You can’t do this! You can’t throw me out because of her. She is a criminal, a mafia queen! She is using you!”
Jasira muttered a low gasp as she glanced at Jeremy to see his reaction, he remained unmoved.
The guards bundled Amelia, their expressions resolute. As they took hold of her, she struggled, her eyes wild with desperation and fury.
“You will regret this, Jeremy! You don’t know what you are getting into!” She continued.
Jeremy watched impassively as Amelia was dragged out, her screams fading into the distance. Then he turned to Jasira, who stood calmly, her demeanor unruffled.
“Come with me,” he said quietly, and took the stairs, leading to the bedroom.
The room which was spacious and elegantly furnished, posed a stark contrast to the tension that now hung in the air. Jeremy closed the door behind them and turned to face Jasira, his eyes searching hers.
“I need to know the truth, Jasira. What is going on between you and Amelia? I need answers, I need to know every bit of information now,” he said and she swallowed hard, not knowing where to start from.
She then took a deep breath, her gaze steady.
“Amelia and I have a history, one that is not exactly pleasant of which you already know, like a year back. Where she had humiliated me in the public, smashed my phone on the floor and rained insults on me,” she explained.
Jeremy frowned. He knew all that, but that wasn’t what he was trying to find out.
“And what about your background? The rumors about you being a mafia queen? -,” she lowered her gaze, avoiding his eyes.
“She kept on repeating that you are a murderer, a killer, you heard her. Tell me she is lying, that it isn’t true, just tell me,” he said.
Instantly, the tears came running down her face, he noticed her tears and took her hands in his.
“Just tell me, and I would believe,” he said, his voice a little bit softer this time.
That was when the intensity of the tears increased and swiftly, she removed her hands from his and covered her face with them, crying uncontrollably.
Jeremy was taken aback.
“What is all these for?” He asked.
“It is true Jeremy, it is true,” she said in between sobs.
Instantly, Jeremy took some steps backwards, like retreating away from her, his eyes widened in utmost shock. What!
“It is what?” He asked.
She smiled faintly, a shadow of sadness crossing her features. “There is some truth to those rumors. My family has a complicated history, and yes, I have had to do things to protect what is mine, but I’m not the monster she is making me out to be.”
This was just too much for him to assimilate, he turned away from her, then turned back to her, still seeing the beautiful face, the beautiful Jasira he had fallen in love with, but now, there was something amiss.
“You… you are of the underworld, holy moly!” He exclaimed.
