FOR a split second Jasira didn’t know what next to do, whether to pick up the call or not, she was just staring at the ringing phone, with the caller ID very much visible.
Was he really calling her, like calling her on the phone?
The phone rang for so long and then stopped, and that was when she realized herself and snapped out of her reverie, then she began regretting not picking up.
Almost immediately, the call came in again and she breathed in, then exhaled deeply. And she picked up.
“Hello”, her firm voice spoke.
“Brava! You finally decided to pick up”, came Jeremy.
Jasira rolled her eyes.
“Well, yeah, I finally decided, you got that right”, she said.
On the other end, Jeremy nodded knowingly, smiling.
“I see, it is a good thing you picked up else…”.
“Okay, else what?”, she softly cut in, interrupting him.
He snorted.
“You would see me at your place in matter of seconds, I need not talk much, you know what I can do”.
“I know nothing Mr Petersons”, she replied.
His eyebrows furrowed.
“Oh really?”, he asked.
“Ugh huh”, she replied, nodding her head like he could see her.
He laughed shortly.
“My beautiful lady”, he called.
She made a face.
“Your what?”, she asked.
“You heard me loud and clear. So tell me, how is your night going?”, he asked, digressing.
She sat up properly.
“Well, not bad”, she replied shortly.
“Mm, I see. Mine isn’t well, it was a really bad day for me”, he said.
“Ohh! I’m sorry about that”, she sympathized.
“It’s okay, it is getting better gradually”.
“Mind to tell? I am curious”, she said and he smiled.
“Curious about? My affairs? Nah, do not let it bother you, free your mind from it”, he said.
She shrugged, who knows what it could be.
“Well, if you say so”.
“Yeah, I know so”, just then, a call came into one of his other phones on the bedside table and he glanced at it.
Still on the phone with Jasira, he reached out for the ringing one, it was Frank, an employee who acted his assistant the day Carrie took a day off, it was work, he had to pick up.
“You know what baby, I regret to say this, but we will talk later, I gat to pick this call”, he said.
“Alright, it is fine”, she said and he hung up, then picked up that of Frank.
“Why the hell you calling me at this time of the night?”, he barked at Frank.
“I am sorry Sir, but you need to hear this, now and right now”.
“What is that which can’t wait until Monday? Spill it”, he ordered.
“Sir, I just got an email from a company, offering to partner with us in…”.
“What company is that?”, Jeremy interrupted.
“Foxbook Enterprises”.
Mm, Jeremy began wondering.
“Foxbook?”, he asked, “the name rings a bell, like I have heard it from somewhere or something”, he wondered aloud.
“Sir, I think so. Seems like we have tried having a deal with them sometime in the past, but it didn’t work out, I had found this on the records”, Frank explained.
That was when it dawned on Jeremy, and he frowned so tightly.
“Mr Zach still hasn’t learnt his lessons right?”, he rhetorically asked.
“Sir, I do not know what you are talking about”, Frank said.
Jeremy hissed.
“Stupid!”, he blurted out, “I know you don’t”, he added.
Frank swallowed hard.
“I’m sorry Sir”.
“Reject the offer, set a restriction against their email, I do not want to have anything to do with them”, he instructed.
“Okay Sir, straight away”.
“Get off my phone”, he said and hung up.

As soon as Jasira had dressed up for the day, there came a knock on her door, she answered immediately.
“Come in”, she announced, as she sat in front of her dressing mirror, putting some finishing touches to her appearance.
The door opened to reveal Mico sauntering in, carrying with him an iPad.
“Good morning Boss J”, he closed the door behind him and greeted walking up to her.
“Good morning Mico. Any schedule for today?”, she asked, still looking into the mirror as she primped up her hair.
“Ugh… yes Boss J”, he replied scrolling up and down the screen of the iPad.
“Brief me”.
“Honourable Bernard has just sent the outstanding payment, about few minutes ago, asking you to meet up for dinner at…”.
“Hold on”, she cut him short, “was it successful? I mean, was the business deal we had with him successful?”, she asked and turned to look at him.
He nodded.
“Yeah, it was, he had sent an email to that effect, and you were informed at due time”.
Jasira smiled knowingly and turned back to the mirror.
“Inform Honourable Bernard that I won’t be able to make it”, she said.
“Okay Boss, noted”, he replied and scrolled down the screen of the iPad.
“There was an email from Lord Lucas”.
She made a face and waved her left hand, turning to face him properly.
“Waive it off”, she instructed.
“Noted”, echoed Mico as he proceeded, “you have a meeting with one Mr Scott, he has a busines offer”, he said.
“Where and when?”, she asked.
“2pm today, at the park”, he said and finally looked up from the iPad.
Her eyes widened, glistening with confusion written all over her.
“The park? Why there?”, she rhetorically asked.
