CARRIE sat like a cat on hot bricks on the seetee in Jeremy’s office, her both palms on her face, she has just been discharged from the hospital and had been driven straight to the office by one of the company’s chauffeur.
The glass door opened and Jeremy entered, glancing at the huge wall clock hanging on the wall, 5:00pm, it told him.
“Are you ready to talk now?”, his cold voice asked as he walked up to his seat, and sank into it.
Carrie gave out a long sigh and slowly, removed her palms from her face. For the past one hour since the company’s chauffeur drove her back to the office from the hospital, Jeremy has been questioning, infact it had been a question and answer session with Jeremy but this time, there had been no answer, just questions, as she wasn’t just giving out any reply.
Jeremy on his own part wasn’t tired of asking, he really wanted to know whoever was behind her brief abduction, because as far as he was concerned, whatever happened was connected to him, the perpetrator was only but trying to get at him, but through his assistant, hence his reason for questioning.
Carrie sighed again, she was going to say a thing now, but, she has decided within her not to say what really transpired, right now, she was scared to her teeth.
“I am”, she shortly replied and sat up.
Jeremy slowly swivelled his chair to face her.
“I… I really do not know who they are”, she began, “I was returning from the official duty when they cornered me”, she said.
He rolled his eyes.
“I know all that Carrie, out with it, say what I want to hear”, he said, his voice a pitch higher.
“I don’t know them Sir, I don’t”, she cried out, hitting her both arms on her laps.
He looked at her for some seconds, saying nothing, and then he spoke.
“Did they charge you to say nothing Carrie? Did they coerce you or force you to take an oath not to reveal their identity huh?”, he questioned.
She shook her head in the negation.
“None of that, I just do not know them”, she maintained.
He sighed deeply.
“What about my grandma?”, she asked.
He swivelled his chair away from her.
“She is cool, hasn’t heard a thing”, he said picking up a pen from the desk.
“Ohh! Thank goodness, she shouldn’t please”, she said.
“You can take the day off tomorrow”, he said, then turned his head to her, “you have to be careful”, he said and looked away.
“Me too”, he wanted to add but withheld, he has been careful anyways, he has always been.
“Thank you Sir”, she said and rested her back on the seetee, sighing deeply.
Soon, the clock ticked 6pm, it was time to go home. Nathan came in immediately and began clearing up the desk, Jeremy and Carrie got up as well.
“Boss, there is an emergency back home”, Nathan said as soon as he came in.
“What kind of emergency?”, Jeremy asked.
“I don’t really know Sir, Math just called few seconds ago as I was walking in here”, he said.
Carrie swallowed hard.
“Um, I will just…, go and get my bag”, she said then walked out of the office.
“Did she say a thing Boss?”, Nathan asked as soon as Carrie left.
Jeremy shook his head.
“Nothing”.
“Do you think whatever the emergency is, has something to do with the abduction?”, Nathan asked.
“I can’t tell, we just have to be really careful now, double up the security and be at alert always, the times are bad”, Jeremy said and began walking out of the office, Nathan followed.
“Noted Boss”, he said and they walked out.
***
“Boss what should we do to him? Since he doesn’t want to inarticulate?”, questioned Math.
Jeremy and Nathan had just gotten home, and immediately after freshening up, the emergency situation was tabled before him.
It was nothing but a spy, he had been caught by Math and his men, lurking around suspiciously.
“For the last time, I am gonna ask you again, who sent you to spy on me?”, Jeremy asked him.
They had been questioning him in the torture room, but he just wasn’t ready to spill.
“Not for all the tea in China will I spill the truth”, the guy uttered heart hardenly.
Jeremy smiled, he was familiar with these kind of people, he knew their types, heart hardened.
“Phew! I can see you are such a loyal dog, a very loyal one at that”, Nathan chipped in.
Impatient Jeremy snapped his finger signifying Nathan to pass him his two sided dagger, which was always lieing on a slab in the torture room.
“Here boss”, Nathan uttered passing the dagger to him, he took it.
Without saying much, he moved behind the guy who was tied to a chair, and using the dagger, he stripped off his clothes, then digged the dagger into his bare back.
“Aaaaaaahhhh!”, he let out a horror filled cry.
He dug the dagger dipper into his skin forming a letter I, the cries increased.
The guy was profusely sweating, it filled his body colliding with the blood dripping from his back.
His vein popped out as his eyes danced around in horror in it’s socket. Jeremy smiled, licking his lips, he just loved how the spy guy was reacting to his every touch.
“I am Jeremy Petersons, I may appear soft, but this is the bad side of me only my enemy gets to see”, Jeremy said and plunged further into his skin.
He kept stabbing him at all his vitals, he kept screaming out in pains, until he became weak.
“Ahh!”, Jeremy shouted and flung the dagger away, then left him and headed for the door.
Instantly, Math brought out his gun.
“Should I gun him down Boss?”, he questioned.
Jeremy halted in his tracks.
“Not so fast”, he said, ” untie him and bring him outside I will make sure I give him a painful death”, he instructed.
“Yes boss!”, answered Math as he set to loosen up the spy guy.
Then Jeremy walked out, and towards the compound, Nathan followed.
“Boss!”, his guards which patrolled about saluted, and he gave them a slight nod.
“Let out Icy and Puma”, Jeremy commanded, “It’s time for them to have their dinner, a very sweet treat this beautiful evening”, he added.
“Noted Boss”, one of the guards nodded respectively before airing towards the dogs’ kennel.
Jeremy had gotten these pitbulls just few days ago, and they were already in use instantly.
“Boss, I think this spy guy has something to do with Miss Carrie’s abduction”, Nathan said to him as they walked up to the umbrella tree in the compound and stood.
Jeremy nodded.
“I think so too, even if it doesn’t, they all have to do with me”, he said.
“Sure”, Nathan nodded.
Just then, Math came out dragging the spy guy that was by now, drenched in his own blood, towards the tree where Jeremy stood.
Jeremy looked at him.
“I will let you leave, yeah, I’m benevolent enough to that aspect”, he said, “the gate is wide open, now run!”, he commanded him.
“Tha… thanks so much”, he stuttered, putting his palms together in gratitude as he started trotting weakly towards the gigantic gate.
Instantly, the guard holding up the chain of the two giant pitbulls let go of them, and they chased at him, barking ferociously.
At the instant they got to him, they jumped vigorously on him and began tearing him apart, limb to limb.
All he could do was scream and scream for help.
Jeremy let out a huge smile, alongside his guards.
“Serves you right”, Math said.
“At least, your ghost should send me a warning to whoever sent you”, Jeremy said and walked into his mansion.
