Book:Taming Queen Mafia Published:2024-8-27

THE next morning wasn’t a rosy one for Jeremy as he had woken up at the wrong side of the bed, following his mum’s all the time preaching about Amelia.
Well, last night after drinking, having fun and making merry at the club, they returned home very late.
Amelia was infact drunk, and this disgusted him no end. How would he get married to a drunk and keep back at home as wife and mother to his unborn kids? Unbelievable!
As soon as they returned home that night, he asked the guards carrying drunk Amelia to carry her to the guest room next door, and they did.
She woke up that morning to see that she had slept in the guestroom, and she got so angry. She opened up and told Mrs Petersons, and that was how the shouting that morning started.
By then, Jeremy was already up and ready for work. It was on his way out, that his mother stopped him to confront him. Amelia was standing beside her sobbing.
After the confrontation, he said nothing, looked at Amelia degradingly and walked out on them.
What! Mrs Petersons shouted the more.
“I might just have to go back to my house, I do not think I’m welcomed here anymore”, he muttered to himself as a guard opened the car door and he went in.
All this while, he never bothered to look into his phone as he always did, he was too pissed off.
They got to the company in silence and in his usual characteristic manner, he went in, straight to his office, without even bothering to look at the faces of the people who greeted him.
The guard dropped his iPad on the desk and was about leaving when Jeremy called him back.
“Sir”, he said.
“Get me Nancy”, he said.
“Straightway sir”, the guard replied and walked away.
Then he settled into his seat, resting his head on the headrest. Few minutes later, Nancy stepped in.
“Good morning sir”, she genuflected.
“Morning, I need you to make me something snappy”, he said to her.
“Okay sir”, she replied and made to go into the suite when he halted her back.
“By the way, where is Carrie?”, he asked, surprised that she hasn’t come in as she usually do, it was unlike her.
“Um, Carrie is not yet at work”, she replied.
“What!”, he sat up straight and turned to look at her.
Nancy nodded.
“Yes sir, she isn’t at work yet”, she replied.
Jeez! This shocked Jeremy to the bones, Carrie? Not at work yet? She left no information that she wouldn’t turn out for work today. He immediately picked up his phone and unlocked it, he froze.
The number of missed calls he saw was enough to cause a heart failure. He checked out the caller, it was Carrie. What! What could have gone wrong.
Nancy then went into the suite to make him his breakfast.
Immediately, Jeremy called her back, and she picked up at once.
“Carrie?”, he spoke into the phone.
She began talking incoherently, with panic in her voice and he could sense it, he got up immediately.
“Carrie what the hell is it? Talk more clearly I can’t hear you”, he said, he was now pacing about.
He heard her breath out and then began to talk more clearly.
“Sir, I’m sorry I didn’t turn out for work today… there was an emergency…”, she trailed off and he cussed under his breath.
“Speak. What emergency?”, he demanded.
“It’s Grandma…”.
“What!”, he stopped pacing about and stood, “what is wrong with her?”, he asked.
“I… I really don’t know. I have just brought her to the hospital, and I am there now. The doctors are checking out on her presently as we speak”, she said, still panicking.
Jeremy was stunned, what? Old Maria? His grandmother? Old Maria is like a grandmother to him, and he is like a son to her, he never uses her to play, he never uses her to crack jokes.
“The name of the hospital?”, he asked.
“I will text it to you straightway”, she replied and he hung up.
Immediately, he swung into action.
He first went into the suite and told Nancy to suspend the cooking, and leave his office.
“An emergency, leave whatever you are doing”, he said to her and she obeyed immediately.
This wasn’t the first time she would be leaving like this, it had happened several times in the past.
As soon as she left, Jeremy left too and immediately called his guards, and together they left. As soon as he entered the car, a notification popped in, it was the text and he instantly, handed over the phone to the driver.
The people in the ground floor began wagging their mouths.
“What could have made the CEO leave like that? He just arrived”, a lady at the sales department said.
“You know Carrie isn’t at work yet, he might be because of her”, another lady replied the first.
“Hmm, indeed. Sometimes it seems to me that they are dating, the way she does things with him, if we were the ones doing that, we would have long been sacked”, the first lady came again.
“Seriously. He lets her do things and get away with it. If not for his fiancee, I would have thought so too”, a third lady joined in the conversation.
“Fiancee indeed. Were you at their engagement party? Oh ho! It seems you got the ring he used to propose to her huh?”, the second lady asked.
The people at earshot immediately bursted into laughter.
“Then why is she called that then? I mean Amelia?”, the third lady asked her.
“Maybe to deceive the populace, but I can never be deceived, I know Jeremy doesn’t love that Amelia girl”, she replied.
A customer walked up to them and they stopped the conversation, going back to their work.
The driver drove like mad to the hospital using the location Carrie sent. He was familiar with the hospital, he knew it.
Soon they got to the hospital and his guards alighted and opened the car door for him. He came out.
Carrie was already waiting at the parking lot and she walked up to them.
“Good morning sir”, she genuflected.
He turned to look at her and saw the worries on her face.
“Where is Grandma? And what the hell happened to her?”, he asked.
She sighed.
“The doctors are still yet to be out”, she said.
He turned away from her and looked around the hospital, he could see some people as expected, staring at him, and he scoffed.
“Take me to her”, he said and she paused, wanted to say the doctors wouldn’t allow them, but then she realized he was a respected being, and a CEO, she proceeded.
They walked down the lawn, including his guards and then entered the hospital.
She took them to the waiting room and they walked along, the people in there gasped and stared, including the ones who passed them by.
They had walked along the hospital hallway for some minutes when Jeremy sighted a lady, coming towards them. He fixed his gaze on her and that slowed their pace, as the guards walked slowly too, protecting their boss.
Carrie became surprised and slowed her pace as well, only to see her boss staring at this lady walking beside them.
Jeremy watched her as she increased her pace and then scurried pass them, it was no mistaking at all, it was the face, the hair, the carriage, the aura that comes with her.
Although she wasn’t putting on that black to black dressing of hers, she was wearing baggy things this time around, but he could beat his chest that it was her, it was his beautiful lady.

As soon as Jasira hopped into her Jeep and hit the road, she managed to drive down to the hospital, she drove slowly.
She looked back intermittently as she drove like she knew she was going to be followed. At first, there was no car in sight. She continued driving.
She had driven for like twenty minutes, when she sighted a particular Corolla, coming behind her, and she smirked.
Normally, any other person wouldn’t be able to notice the car was following her because they were a lot of other cars on the road, but she knew, because she expected.
Looking at them at intervals through the side mirror, they revved off to the side of the road and halted, but no one came out of the car.
She grinned, all these were just to deceive her, she knew where the car was coming from, and she knew it was following her.
She ignored the car and continued driving slowly. After a few minutes, she looked into her side mirror just in time to see the car divert into another route, and she nodded satisfactorily.
Jasira got to the hospital about fifty minutes later, the people following her must have arrived at the hospital and was in a corner, watching her, who knows?
She parked her car at the parking lot, went into the hospital and booked an appointment with their doctor. Everyone coming from Lord Lucario’s mansion has a particular doctor that attends to them, it was like their family doctor.
The doctor attended to her without ado.
“Good morning doctor”, she greeted and sat down.
The doctor was a lady. She smiled so broadly.
“Good morning Jasira, now that you appeared this morning at my office, I hope you are real good huh”, she said and picked up her stethoscope which laid on the table.
Jasira sighed, if she was fine, what would she be looking for in her office.
“I don’t really know, but I think I’m having fever”, she replied.
The doctor smiled and got up, then moved closer to her.
“You don’t just conclude okay? Let me check you out”, she said and placed the stethoscope on her chest, already connected to her ears.
It was a minor fever, the doctor said, but Jasira knew what prompted it.
After everything, she announced that she was going home, and she left.
Along the hallway, just along the hallway as she walked by, she saw him, now he appeared like the CEO he was.
She could see two guards and a lady going with him. Jeez! She noticed he fixed his gaze on her and she looked away instantly, then scurried pass them.

Jeremy watched the lady scurried pass them, and he turned to one of his guards, “follow her at a close range immediately”, he said.
