Book:His Burning Obsession Published:2024-8-27

A week later,
My wound had healed up though not fully, the stitches were removed but were still neatly dressed in cotton wool and plaster while my therapist said I’ve climbed some stones on the state of my depression, I was improving impressively so I can start going out.
I was happy that I could get my feet back to school even though I tried to fight off the nervousness and anxiousness beginning to creep into me.
“Hey, you’ll be fine,” I heard Lucas say as he placed his hand on top of mine.
We were both in his car as he pulled into the school’s park, I stared at the students clustering around in their usual groups.
I saw some set of girls in cheerleading uniform staring at Lucas’s car as they giggled among themselves, though they can’t see us in the car but we can.
“I hope so!” I breathed out entangling my hand in his as we both gazed into our eyes.
“I promise you, you’ll be fine and besides I’m not leaving your side,” He smiled.
“What?” I asked in bewilderment.
“You’re not going to be following me around, right?” I asked hopefully he says no.
“I am, you’re mine Camilla, and is there a problem being with you everywhere?” He smirked as he unbuckled his seat belt and leaned closer to me.
My heart beat wildly against my chest as he leaned closer to me stopping an inch away.
“I-I don’t want attention from everyone, I mean if they see us together always,” I said truthfully still remembering the case of Jenny, I guess she will be happy I wasn’t in school for a while.
“Then you ignore them like they don’t exist,” Lucas said placing a finger under my chin as he made me stare directly into his eyes.
“Luc–” I tried to tell him it wasn’t as easy as he thought but I was cut off with his kiss.
His tongue slipped into my unaware parted lips, it took me a while before I welcomed his sooting tongue which fondled perfectly with mine.
I loved his taste, it always made me lose every self-restraint I had whenever I was with him, I couldn’t help but give in to his touches or kisses.
I placed my hand at the back of his head, pressing him closer to me while he did the same thing with me.
We angled our heads as we both nibbled and sucked our lips.
Lucas broke the kiss slowly, as he replaced it with a quick kiss on my nose.
He helped me unbuckle my seat belt and pressed a button on the control center as a click from the car became heard.
Lucas opened his door as he stepped out of the car, he was wearing dark blue jeans with a light blue vintage shirt leaving the first two buttons unbuttoned that exposed his upper chest while he rolled up his sleeves to his elbow exposing the light hair on his skin with blue and white Dior sneakers.
Staring at the people around inside the car, I could tell all eyes were on him. I watched him turn round the car as he made his way to the passenger’s door where I was sitting.
I became nervous knowing that immediately I step out of his car, I should be ready to be the next topic in the school for today.
I was wearing a baby blue sleeveless flared gown that reached on my knee exactly with a nude sandal with three buckled straps.
My hair was down and that’s because Lucas stubbornly said he wanted my hair down that he loved it that way.
The door opened suddenly with Lucas standing in front of me as he offered me a hand.
I eyed him, he sure does want much attention, I ignored him and came out of the car myself.
I heard loud gasps so I turned my back as I opened the back seat of Lucas’s car and grabbed my bag and slung the straps over my shoulder.
I closed the door and was about to turn round when I felt a pair of hands snake around my waist stopping me from turning around.
“Lucas!” I called out sharply closing my eyes.
“You’re not supposed to ignore me, little sparrow,” He said releasing one of his hands and packing my hair to the side exposing my milky neck to him.
“I wa-wasn’t,” I stuttered as I shuddered in his hold when he pressed his lips on the skin of my neck.
“Lucas, let go!” I said annoyingly.
“Yes love,” He said and I froze when he released me and stepped back.
‘Love? He just called me love, was that part of his new name for me, he hasn’t mentioned the word love to me,’ I thought.
‘Oh, God! Is there a problem for him to call you love?’ My mind retorted.
‘Yeah’ I snorted in my mind.
I grasped the straps of my bag, tightly to my shoulder as I started walking away from him.
I know he was following behind so I didn’t bother checking back.
“OMG! That’s the nerd! Is she the one or my eyes are playing with me?” I heard a girl say and I glanced in her direction, to see she was talking with another girl in a mini jeans skirt who also had her eyes on me, We made brief contact and she was quick to gaze away,
I bent my head low as I fastened my pace and began walking to the school’s large door.
“I thought she was sick?” I heard another say but this time I don’t want to listen or give a fuck about what they’re saying.
“Love, you’re walking too fast,” I heard Lucas grumble behind me making me stop in my tracks as I turned around abruptly as he nearly bumped into me, while his arms encircled me.
“Please, can you stop calling me that?” I asked raising a brow at him.
“What?” He feigned innocently like he didn’t know what I asked him to stop calling me, making me roll my eyes at him, as I tried to get away from him but he tightened his grip pulling me closer to him.
My cheeks heated up as I raised my face to see his, giving him a glare that implies what did I tell you in the car?.
“St-stop calling me love,” I stuttered out avoiding his gaze when he started to crease his face in a frown.
“Why?” He asked his voice irritated as he placed his finger under the tip of my chin making me stare at him.
I gulped the lump in my throat as I stared around and noticed the numerous pair of eyes gazing at us.
‘This is what I don’t want!’ I grumbled in my mind.
“Can we talk about this later? I’m not just used to you calling me that word,” I said gazing deeply into his eyes while he sighed in dismay and unwrapped his arms encircle around me and moved back a little.
“Okay,” He said smiling thinly at me while I nodded and continued my way to the building, I incautiously placed my foot on the step with my mind wandered off and a light yelp escaped my mouth as I tripped off.
I closed my eyes waiting for what was about to come but a familiar cologne hit through my nostrils as my back rested on a solid body and an arm wrapped around my waist securely.
“Are you okay?” I heard his deep voice rang into my ears as I nodded while he held me till I was balanced on my feet properly.
“Yeah!” I breathed out brushing off the strands of hair that blocked my view.
He left me slowly while I turned to meet his scrutinized gaze fixed on me, he was watching me intimately.
Today hasn’t even begun and it was beginning to feel worst and crazy.
“I’m fine,” I said to assure him of the doubts clouding his mind while he nodded and grabbed my wrist as he made the way to the door and opened it.
The different mix of perfumes and cologne that emanated from the students filled the hallway as I nearly choked, it was always like that from the start but I didn’t know why this seemed foreign to me, maybe because I’ve been off from school for a while or maybe I’m just too anxious.
The loud chatters and noise from the teenagers hanging around stilled immediately they noticed our presence, all eyes were fixed on us and I felt like crawling somewhere secluded. I pulled my hands away from Lucas’s grip slightly but the dickhead tightened his grip on my wrist the more making me turn my face to him with a glare, he faced front looking unfazed about the whole awkward situation us, as I heard low whispers and murmurs around us.
“Camilla!!!” A loud blaring voice chirped through the hallway making me gasp as I faced front to see who it was.
OMG! It’s Beatrice…
Lucas released his grip on my wrist finally when I made a move to go and meet Beatrice.
“OMG! Camilla, you’re back!” She chirped loudly as she ran over to me. I did the same too and we both engulfed ourselves in a crush-hugging embrace.
Her warmness soothed me calmly as her lovely smell filled my nostrils, I raked my fingers through her soft hair as she did the same with me too, we were so much drowned in our world that we forgot about those nearby to see what was going on between us.
“I’ve fucking missed you, Camilla!” She cooed with her face buried deep into my neck.
“I missed you too,” I choked out almost on the verge of tears, we haven’t seen each other for weeks although she called regularly to check on me and we will both have endless video calls, it wasn’t the same as being in each other’s arms.
Her lovely smell, her murderous glares, her laughter, her jokes, her extravagant whines… Oh God!!! I’ve fucking missed every single thing about her.
We slowly broke the hug, feeling reluctant to let go of each other, I glanced around as my eyes got fixed on Lucas who was resting his side on the yellowish metallic lockers nearby with his arms folded across his chest as he cast me a charming smile.
“You look so pretty, Camilla,” Beatrice complimented while I beamed at her.
“You look more beautiful,” I giggled and she gave me another quick hug, I always admired how she dresses with confidence and elegance, she was wearing a faded boyfriend jeans with black sleeveless crop top that exposed her belly button and white sneakers.
“It’s good to have you back in school,” She said grabbing my wrist as we began walking in the direction of my locker.
“Yeah, can’t they ever stop gazing?” I muttered lowly in annoyance as students passed by us making sure I know they were staring at me.
“Baby, just ignore them, all that matters is you’re strong and healthy and back to school, they can stare however they want,” Beatrice said smacking her lips together and I nodded cause she’s right, I should just ignore them just as Lucas said earlier.
“What of Leticia?” I asked noticing she wasn’t with Beatrice as I turned the lock of my locker to the right numbers and it made a click sound as I opened it.
“She will be late today, she called she had to do some things for her mum before she comes to school,” Beatrice said while I nodded and brought out some books from the locker.
The bell rang and everyone hurried their steps to their various classes as Beatrice groaned loudly making me chuckle, I knew she hasn’t taken her books for her morning class cause I didn’t see one with her earlier or a bag.
“We’ll talk later sweetie,” She said giving me a quick peck on my cheeks as she jogged off. I smiled and closed the locker turning around to see Lucas in my front as I moved back startled.
“My bad!” Lucas gasped pretentiously while I glared at him for frightening me that way.
“Not funny,” I glared at him while he pouted at me taking his steps closer to me.
I raised a questioning brow at him as I noticed the hallway was empty.
So fast!
“Let’s go to class!” I sputtered out gazing at him as I swallowed a lump forming in my throat.
He smirked moving closer to me as he placed his hand on the locker trapping me within.
His other hand snaked around my waist pulling me closer to his body.
“Do you mind if I have a kiss? A quick one though, I want to feel your lips against mine,” He requested staring intimately at my lips as he darted out his tongue and wetted his lower lips, my heart fluttered just the way he said it out as I felt my cheeks reddened.
“Uhm! We have a class to attend, and you kissed me earlier,” I reminded him as I flickered my eyelashes at him.
“I just can’t seem to get enough of you,” He whispered lowly with his green eyes clouded and filled with mixed desires and leaned his head forward to mine as his soft moistened lips brushed against mine making me shudder involuntarily as the tingles and goosebumps that invaded my body and skin made me weak.
The tip of his tongue brushed against my lips as he waited patiently for me to part my lips for him to have his way. His urgent thrusting his tongue caused into my mouth sent a wildfire of searing flames race through my entire body.
I voluntarily clung to him as I wrapped my hands around his neck in some alternative universe of longing.
