I felt my hair being ruffled like someone was raking their fingers through the locks of my hair. My first impression is to knock off the person doing so, most especially if it’s Ben.
A low groan escaped my lips when I remembered I placed my head on Camilla’s bed and slept off.
My eyes flickered open and faced Camilla and was shocked to see her awake as she withdrew her hands from my hair as faint color of pink crept on her cheeks while she bit her bottom lips when her eyes came in contact with mine.
“You’re awake!” I said shockingly and surprised at the same time as I drew my chair closer to her making a light screech noise.
My whole body was humming and bustling with joy.
“You’re awake!” My voice came out a bit louder as I stood up.
“Yes, Come here!” She giggled as she widened her arms for me taken me aback as I raised a surprising brow at her.
“Hug!” She smiled emphasizing her word and I didn’t hesitate to hug her, her arms wrapped around me tightly as she buried her face into my neck.
I snaked my arm around her small waist and drew her closer to me and kissed her forehead before I heard her wince lowly and withdrew away from her almost suddenly.
“Shit! Did I hurt you?” I asked worriedly as she placed her hands on the side of her stomach.
“Not really! Just a minor pain!” She chuckled lightly as our gaze met before she sighed.
I leaned closer to her taking the hand she placed on her stomach as I sat on the little space on her bed.
“Promise me, you won’t ever do that again! No matter what happens,” I said gazing intimately into her silver lining blue eyes.
“I promise… I won’t do it again!” She breathed out smiling thinly at me while I nodded in confirmation.
“How are you feeling now?” I asked as I sat on the chair still holding her hand in mine.
“Good, I guess.” She said smiling and my heart melted warmly with those smiles of hers.
I pray she doesn’t hear the part of me telling her that I loved her yesternight because right now, I was feeling totally awkward.
We stared into each other faces for a while, as I became loss in words trying my best not to say anything that would remind her of any traumatic event she passed through.
I wanted to put everything in the past and make her live a happy life.
“You look cute when you sleep,” She said gazing at me as I felt her rub her thumb on my hand while a smile invaded my lips as a deep chuckle escaped from my mouth.
“And you look so innocent when you do,” I said winking at her as her face lit up.
I don’t know but I felt proud of her for trying to fight what she was passing through now.
“Lucas!” She called while I raised my head to look directly into her eyes.
“Thank you for staying by my side all through, I appreciate it,” She thanked giving me a genuine smile as guilt ran through my system.
I didn’t deserve any of her thanks or warm gestures, I wasn’t worthy of any one of them…
I nodded trying to force a smile on my face as I bent lowly and kissed her hands, then I stood up.
She gave me a questioning look…
“I’ll go tell the doctors you’re awake,” I said glancing at my wristwatch and noticed it was 8 in the morning.
“No, the nurses already know about that, they wanted to wake you but I told them not to…” She said nervously before she cleared her throat, “I-I wanted you by my side,” She stuttered avoiding my gaze as she played with her fingers.
I was speechless, I didn’t know what to say as I stared at her dumbfounded…
I wasn’t expecting this from her, I wanted her to drive me as far as possible away from her side but she was doing the opposite.
Just when I was about to open my mouth and talk someone chirped in, ” Camilla! You’re awake!!” I saw Beatrice brushed past me as she went to hug Camilla then Leticia followed next.
“Finally!” She squealed as she gave Camilla a light hug.
I watched them being so happy as Camila’s face trailed to mine while I sighed and walked out of the room.
I was walking through the hallway and was about to turn in my direction to go to the waiting room when a voice startled me.
“Good morning!” I heard and I turned around to see Ben with crossed arms on his chest resting the side of his body on the wall.
I rolled my eyes when I realized it was him and ignored him as I made my way to the waiting room.
“Hey man!” He said, catching up to me as I shoved my hands into the hoodie I was wearing.
“What do you want?” I asked harshly stopping in my tracks.
“Don’t tell me you’re still all worked up against me?” He throws while I rolled my eyes.
“What does it look like I’m doing?” I asked him with a snort as I started walking.
“I spoke to Jenny yesterday,” He said and I felt myself growling at the mention of her name, making my way to an empty seat.
“Then why are you telling me, I don’t want to fucking hear her name!” I barked at him as he scrunched up his face and sat next to me.
“She would leave!” He said and my gaze snapped at him confusedly.
“Explain yourself!” I said still gazing at him and he coughed lightly clearing his throat.
“I convinced her to leave the state, and go elsewhere to school and she will get over you when she finds someone else,” He said and I raised a brow at him.
“And what made you think she would leave, we’re in our finals and the exam is approaching soon,” I said staring at him and cringing at the thought of having to read to prepare for those fucking exams.
“She had her documents already, she was planning to leave immediately she was done with high school and I’ve convinced her to leave earlier and told her you might her kill her next time when you have the chance, so she agreed,” He yawned while I just gazed at him.
For centuries, he acted like a normal human being with sense.
“So, she’s gone for good?” I asked.
“Yeah!” He said.
“So, aren’t you going to say thank you? At least for not making you commit murder,” He smirked at me while I rolled my eyes at him.
“Thank you my feet,” I snorted earning a light jab from him as I glared at him.
“So, how’re things going with you and that crazy girl of yours in there?” I smirked at him trying to change the topic as his gaze darkened making him raise both hands behind the back of his head and rested on them.
“She’s not crazy but difficult!” He muttered making me chuckle as I earned a stern look from him.
“I called her severally yesternight but she placed all my calls to forwarding and this morning when I tried to approach her, she looked so cold and indifferent,” He sighed helplessly and I couldn’t help my lips which twitched slightly at his vulnerable state.
“I never knew you would fall so deep with someone,” I said amusedly looking at my best friend who was nothing but a player.
“I either, she got me wrapped up against her whole fingers, I love her,” He said disheartened.
“Have you told her about it?” I asked looking at him as he turned his head to the side to face him.
“What?” He asked.
“That you love her,” I said gazing at him, watching him as he released on his hands and raked his curly hair.
“No, I haven’t, I’m afraid she might not feel the same way too,” He said sadly.
“Then maybe you should, when you have the time but now she’s gonna kill you, if you mention that during this state of the period we’re in,” I chuckled and he laughed slightly.
“Yeah, you’re right!” He sighed with a slight smile as we gazed at each other for a while before he patted my knee and stood up.
“C’mon let’s get a drink,” He enlighten me while I chuckled at him as I stood up also.
“Yep!” I said throwing my arms lazily around his shoulders as we walked to where the soda machine was.
