Book:His Burning Obsession Published:2024-8-26

Finally, it’s Friday, the bell rang as every student hurried to their classrooms.
I opened the door with a loud thud, luckily no one was present in class, I straightened up and took my seat beside the window side at the far end of the class.
I brought out my books and pen and started scribbling some irrelevant stuff at the back of my book.
A ball of paper landed on my face, shifting my eyeglasses aside, I adjusted my glasses looking up slowly at the idiot who did that and found out it was Jenny.
She was with her two puppies, Bella and Susan who stood at her back.
“Hey Nerdy!” She greeted, but I knew there was something fetish behind that smile.
I ignored her and continued with what I was doing.
We’re having maths today, meaning it would be a general class for everyone.
My book was snatched from me and I snapped my head in anger.
“Hey!” I snapped angrily.
“What the hell is she even writing?” Bella asked as she tried to read from Susan.
“Something meaningless,” Jenny answered as she glared at me.
“Give me my book!” I demanded.
“Good morning class,” luckily the maths teacher chose this period to walk in the class.
Everyone settled on their seat as Susan threw my book to my face.
I groaned slightly as I bent to pick up my books.
The class started but I couldn’t help to think of what occurred between me and Lucas, yesterday.
He deliberately kissed me on purpose and I don’t know the reason for that.
But he hates and despises me?
Why would he ever kiss me?
All these thoughts ran through my head.
“Miss Evans, are you here with us? I think you’re zoning out” Mr. Harrison looked at me with concern.
“I’m fine, it’s nothing,” I said rather too fast.
Everyone stared at me while I gave a tight smile.
Mr. Harrison gave a nod and continued with his lessons.
I glanced back to check if he was in his seat but it was empty.
Jenny was also staring at me but diverted her attention immediately when a girl tapped her.
He’s not in class!
I don’t know whether to be happy, relieved, or sad.
Well, I was happy and relieved at the same time.
Mr. Tormentor wasn’t around.
I had a sleepless night, doing his homework afraid I will be bullied or punished by him.
‘Did something happen to him?’ I questioned myself.
Well, I was a little curious about that.
I know he doesn’t like maths class but he never for once missed it.
I don’t even know why I’m even caring and bothering myself about him.
Even though I hate him, I wouldn’t want something bad to happen to him.
‘Camilla concentrate!!!” My mind cautioned.
I focused on the board trying to write but I was frustrated, my palms were just getting sweaty at each moment.
Fortunately, the bell rang and I scurried out of the classroom.
I don’t want any encounter with Jenny and her escorts.
The next period was up and he still wasn’t on his seat.
Well, I think he should have a break from bullying.
I finally became calmed and relieved, I don’t need to worry about any bad guy coming my way.
I had all my classes smoothly, except for Jenny who just cast glaring glances at me.
I walked timidly to my locker and arranged my books neatly in them.
“Sweetie!” A voice chirped and an arm wrapped tightly against me.
No one needs to tell me it was Beatrice.
“How are you?” I asked feeling happy too.
“I’m good! Let’s grab some lunch, seems someone is happy after all,” Beatrice chuckled as we made our way to the canteen.
“So, hint me up, got a lottery?” Beatrice asked laughing.
“No!!!” I said rolling my eyes.
We got to the canteen and ordered a hamburger with a banana milkshake.
We took our tray of food to the table and sat.
“Let me guess, the movie night,” Beatrice said being excited herself.
“Not that!” I chuckled.
“Then what, stop keeping me in the dark,” Beatrice pouted.
I glanced around suspiciously and turned to face Beatrice who was staring at me.
I leaned closer to her face and whispered, “Mr. Bully is not around.”
“Oohhh!!!” She mouthed as her lips formed an ‘o’ shape.
“Now, I see why you are happy,” Beatrice laughed loudly.
“Hey, keep it low!” I warned Beatrice, afraid that he might jump out from somewhere at any moment.
“You must be so relieved,” Beatrice chuckled taking a bite of her hamburger.
“I wondered what happened to him” I trailed off thinking.
“Hello! Are you okay?” Beatrice waved her hands in my front bringing me back to reality.
“What?” I asked puzzled as she stared at me like I’ve grown two heads more.
“Why in the universe would you be worried about that bastard?” Beatrice asked almost shouting.
I stood up trying to cover her mouth with my palms.
“Hey, shhhh! You’ve got a loud voice, Beatrice, keep it low.” I said worriedly, glancing around.
She glared at me and I realized I was still covering her mouth.
I let go of her shyly as I sat on my seatback.
She gave me a look to explain myself.
I swallowed my spit and tugged the strands of hair behind my ear.
“I’m not worried about him like you put it, I’m just wondering what happened to him,” I explained.
“Humph!” She scoffed, taking a bite of her hamburger.
“Well, I pray something bad and drastic happens to him and he should never return and set foot in this school ever again,” She said confidently as a mischievous smile crept on her lips.
I choked on my drink, after all, that she said.
“Is there a problem?” She asked raising a questioning brow at me.
“No-Nothing!” I stuttered, forcing a smile on my face.
I wouldn’t want him to get that hurt, even though I don’t like him.
Beatrice could be an evil witch, she shows no mercy to her prey and that’s what I like her.
Sadly, I’m the forgiving and gentle type. She’s clearly the opposite of me.
Sometimes, I wonder why our friendship lasts so long.
“So, about the movie night, I’m going to pick you up at 7:30 p. m,” She announced.
“Yeah sure, I’ve told mum about it already, she said I should be back before 10,” I laughed.
“Yeah sure, we won’t stay that long, immediately we watch the movie we’re coming home straight,” Beatrice said.
“What are–”
“Hey girls! I see you two you’re having the best moment of your life,” A voice we hated so much interrupted us.
“And is that a problem for you?” Beatrice fired as she glared at Jenny and her crew.
“I didn’t come for you bitch, I came for this slut,” Jenny fired back at Beatrice.
“Watch your tongue, wench!” Beatrice fumed with a loud bang on the table as she stood up.
Everyone got their attention in the canteen.
“Here, we go again!” I muttered.
I lowered my head as I listened to the tongue-lashing words Jenny and Beatrice fired at each other.
“Where is he?” Jenny asked me as she came over to me stomping her feet.
“Who?” I asked confused.
“Don’t you give me that innocent face bitch!” She warned.
“I don’t know wha–”
“Why don’t you call the sick bastard and ask him?” Beatrice asked interrupting with a smirk.
Jenny turned and eyed Beatrice.
“Let’s go!” Jenny motioned to her two stupid puppies and they glared at us once more before they walked away.
I gave Beatrice a thumb up.
“Great job you did now!”, I tried to muffle the laughter finding its way out.
“You should be paying me for having someone like me,” She said proudly as she settled on her seat.
“I love you, Beatrice!” I cooed.
“I hate you!” She glared at me as she threw the crumbs of bread on her plate on me as she sticks out her tongue at me while I couldn’t help but laugh.
