Logan POV.
After they left, I went back to the rest of the girls making sure they all slept, Katie woke up once and I had to comfort her back to sleep, it didn’t take long, she just needed some back pets to get her to fall back to sleep. I went to the other rooms to check on the older girls, she and my Angel are the youngest they are just babies compared to everyone else.
Two of the girls have slept in one bed instead of sleeping in their own, I knew we all needed to be held some nights, and most nights, so I let them be and left the room to check on the rest, I still had two girls to check on, I opened their bedroom door and peaked in, just looking without making any sound. I saw one bed having a big lump in the middle of it, I knew that a girl was sleeping in there, along with the light snores I could hear.
I looked at the other bed and saw it was empty, I walked in to check for sure, and coming closer the bed was completely empty and still made from earlier this morning. I went to check the bathroom, I knocked and called before going in but she wasn’t there.
I left the room and checked every room in the house, including the one where the girls were sleeping, maybe I missed where she slept, maybe she had another bed, I kept on looking but nothing, it felt like that girl had disappeared from this place, no matter how much I looked she wasn’t there. I got my phone and called Hunter, but it went right to voice messages, I groaned and tried again but same thing, he wasn’t answering, the last message I got from him was the one where he sent me a picture of our little Angel sleeping in the backseat.
I kept on looking, did she leave the place, I should have locked the door but I didn’t think that the littles could or would leave the house, I thought they’d be too afraid, I didn’t want to annoy Evelyn, she needs her nights off, she got her chance to spend some time in William’s arms, and maybe they went crazy and called Dylan in as well. But that wasn’t the topic that I should be thinking off, I should be thinking and finding the lost little, I looked again, searching Evelyn’s room as well, I went down on my knees and looked under every bed in the place and every hiding spot there might be around here.
“We lost a little! Ilyssa isn’t in her bed,” I whisper yell at Hunter who just walked in holding our little Angel deep asleep on his shoulder.
“Fuck,” he groans tiredly, I know he didn’t sign up for this and probably needed some sleep, but if I have lost one of my littles I’d call the police and that included him, so this is his problem just as much as mine.
“Yeah, exactly, fuck,” I agree with him, he pointed to the girl in his arms, he need to set her down to be able to search along with me for the lost little, I pointed to Evlyn’s room, it’s the only room that isn’t taken by littles and if she didn’t want us to sleep in it she would have said, this isn’t her main home, she doesn’t have one home, she’s a traveller, and she doesn’t care sharing, she looks at places as if they are just hotel rooms.
He placed the little one on the bed with a pillow to help keep her in place, we closed the door behind us softly and went back to the search we could ask the other littles if they knew anything about her, but we couldn’t do that, we don’t want to tell them that we lost one of the other girls.
“Did you search the apartment?” Hunter asked me and I looked at him with a raised brow, does he think that I was stupid or new to the business, I knew how to search for littles and I didn’t find her, she was not in this apartment.
“Okay, you did, where could she have went?” Hunter asks me and I’m not familiar with this place, I know that they aren’t allowed to get out or leave, the security is down there for a reason.
“We should talk to the security,” I say, maybe someone signed her out, and she didn’t tell me for reasons that are still unknown to me.
“Come on, are they all asleep?” Hunter asks about the rest of the girls, we can’t risk losing another one of them.
“Deep into sleep,” I assure him.
We got in the elevator and went to the ground floor, I looked at Hunter hoping he’d do the work, making it sound like it was a police business and that I didn’t lose any of the girls by mistake.
“Hello, we’re taking care of the current littles, and we need to know the names of the people who signed them out,” Hunter says and I nod, he’s good.
“Evelyn, William, Dylan, you two are allowed to take them out, and finally Ilyssa is allowed to be signed out by Ryan,” he says the last part his face dropping, he didn’t like Ryan either.
“Did Ryan sign her out tonight?” I ask just to be sure, not caring about being discreet anymore.
“No,” the security answered and I groaned, how are we supposed to find her.
“Do you have security cameras of the hallway?” Hunter my smarter half asks.
“Of course,” the guy answers him, Hunter asked to check them and after showing him his badge, we were allowed to check them.
We picked up the camera that was on our floor, I checked the timing and noticed that she left the apartment while I was making dinner, I didn’t notice that she had gone missing, I didn’t hear it either, and then she was back, but that wasn’t it, we need to know where she went later that evening, we kept looking, skipping over the time laps until we saw her going out, she picked when we were busy with Angel when she was crying.
“She didn’t come back,” I whisper to Hunter who nods and follows her with the cameras, she didn’t go to Ryan’s place like I was worried she might do, he’s not supposed to be near the blues, or talking to them, including all the girls and code blue, not just our Angel.
“She’s on the roof,” Hunter says, he exited all the windows he had open and got up quietly, telling me to follow him, we thanked the security guy and got in the elevator, this time going to the roof.
It didn’t have a lock on the door like we expected and it was supposed to, the door was completely open, we got out and were welcomed with the cold air, the rooms are kind of cold, but the outside night air is even colder, we need to get her back in before she catches a cold.
We looked around for the lost girl and found her standing near the edge, looking down at the ground, my first instinct was to run and grab her back, tell her not to go near there that might get hurt but Hunter stopped me.
“Hey, Ilyssa was it? You’re enjoying the view?” Hunter asks her in one of his most comforting voices.
“It’s really high, I was never afraid of the height before,” she says in a sad voice.
“Well, I’m not too comfortable with it, why don’t you come back a little so we can talk?” he suggested, and she took a couple of seconds before nodding her head and taking a couple of steps back turning to Hunter with sad eyes that matched her tone.
“Hey,” she says back to him.
“Why don’t we take a seat, we can talk,” Hunter suggests taking his jacket off and placing it over her shoulder to keep her warm.
“I wasn’t cold,” she says.
“It’s a very chilly evening, better this way,” Hunter says while I sit down like a third wheel, anything to keep her talking.
“If you say so,” she says with a shrug.
“When did you come up here? I didn’t notice you leaving,” I comment.
“I’m not a very noticeable person,” she says with a shrug.
“Don’t be like that, I’m sure you’re gonna be someone special person soon,” Hunter says.
“No one picked me,” she says sadly.
“When?” I ask her.
“Always, even when growing up, I was always the last to be picked,” she says a tear going down her face, she wiped it right away, but we saw it.
“Sometimes the best are kept for last,” Hunter says.
“It’s not just that, we got some things coming up, and you’ll be surrounded by doms that want you,” I say, meaning the classes for littles and doms.
“No one would ever want me,” she says sadly, the poor thing, this all must be too depressing for her.
“Hey, don’t say that the will, just give it a chance,” Hunter assures her.
“Maybe I’m better off just going to sleep and not waking up,” she says sadly and I made the mental note to get her some counselling or something else to help her out here.
“No, you’re not we all go through our hard times, it gets better, I promise,” Hunter says.
“After how long?” she says sadly.
“We got time, that’s the one thing we can promise you, more time,” Hunter says, meaning when she’s turned into a vampire, she’ll have time and more time, but we can’t have her be a depressed vampire, she needs help.
