Yayoi wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes and said to Rosiley in an extremely helpless tone, “Rosiley, don’t scare us like that anymore. You could really scare someone with a history of heart attacks to death.”
Rosiley knew that she was in the wrong. She nodded obediently and said, “I know. I won’t do it next time.”
Yayoi smiled and looked up at Morphy. She hesitated for a bit before saying, “Morphy, our relationship is our own business. You shouldn’t get Rosiley to help you.”
“Oh,” Morphy responded faintly.
If she had not turned him down, would there have been a need for him to tell his sister-in-law everything?
At the thought of this, Morphy heaved a long sigh. He stared deeply into her eyes and said, “Did you turn me down because you really don’t like me, or are there other considerations?”
Rosiley also looked at her quietly while waiting for her answer.
She looked at Rosiley, then looked at Morphy, and gave a faint smile. “I don’t deny that I have good feelings towards you, but it’s not enough for me to nod my head and agree to be with you. Also, even if I really like you, I don’t want you to be in a conflict with your family over me. I’d feel very uneasy.”
What she had said was very clear. She just did not want to be with him.
Morphy laughed at himself. “So that’s how it is. In that case, I won’t force you.”
He had never been a man to pester shamelessly. since she had already said so, it would be discourteous of him to keep pestering her.
Maybe Morphy couldn’t see Yayoi’s inner struggle, but Rosiley could.
She saw the pain that Yayoi had thought she had concealed perfectly in the depths of her eyes as she spoke.
Yayoi did like Morphy.
The only problem was that she was afraid that it would lead to the same outcome as her previous relationship.
At least, she thought so.
She reached out to hold Yayoi’s hand, and the latter turned to look at her in surprise. When she saw the pity in Rosiley’s eyes, she understood it instantly.
A self-deprecating smile spread from one corner of her lips. Indeed, the one who understood her the most was her ‘sister’.
Her eyes became sore uncontrollably. She blinked and then smiled apologetically at Morphy. “I’m sorry, Mr. Shen.”
“You don’t have to apologize. A relationship is all about mutual consent.” Morphy returned a smile, one that carried a slight tint of distance.
Feeling the change between the two of them, Rosiley sighed softly in her heart.
They obviously liked each other, why were they missing this chance?
It was such a pity.
Rosiley felt that it was pity, but she could not intervene in their relationship.
Just when she was secretly feeling sorry, a thought suddenly flashed across her mind. Rosiley’s eyes lit up. How could she have forgotten about it?
Hence, she put on a smile and asked, “Morphy, have you received the invitation from Tanghai?”
“Yes.” Morphy nodded.
“Good.”
Rosiley turned to look at Yayoi with a pitiful expression.
She pleaded, “My dear Yayoi, could you do me a favor?”
“What favor?” For some reason, Yayoi had a bad feeling.
“Attend Tanghai’s gala on my behalf. When you see Leila Shen, tell her I want to meet her.”
“Leila Shen?” Yayoi frowned. “That little star who helped you by releasing that video?”
Rosiley nodded. “Yes, I want to thank her in person.”
However…
Yayoi glanced at Morphy. Eventually, she nodded in front of Rosiley’s pleading eyes.
“Thank you, Yayoi.” Rosiley looked at her gratefully.
Yayoi smiled and said nothing.
