CHAPTER 64

Book:Bride of the vampire Published:2024-8-24

Damien woke up to an empty space beside him, crystal was not by his side anymore. He growls lightly and yawns. He had such a peaceful sleep after a long time.
As he entered the house, he could hear the sounds of laughter coming from the kitchen, only God knows what Max and Crystal were discussing so early in the morning. He made his way through the hallway, but he didn’t feel like talking to anyone, so he decided to avoid the kitchen. He went straight to his room, closed the door, and took a cold shower. He let the water run over him, trying to wash away the tension and anxiety he felt.
As the water cascaded down his body, Damien closed his eyes and tried to clear his mind. But no matter how hard he tried, his thoughts kept drifting back to the same place – Crystal. He couldn’t stop thinking about her, he found himself thinking about Crystal again. He wondered what it would be like to talk to her, to really talk to her about his feelings. But he knew that was impossible. They were from two different worlds, and he couldn’t risk exposing his true nature to her.
After a few minutes, he finally turned off the water and stepped out of the shower.
Drying himself off, he put on pants only and came out of his room shirtless.
“Good morning guys”. He greeted, taking an apple from the Fridge.
“Holy moly,” she thought to herself, her mouth hanging open in awe. Max looked just as stunned, and one could see a blush rising on her cheeks. This was getting very uncomfortable, very fast.
Crystal gushed down nothing as she stared at his hot body.
“Damn! God made something”. She thought.
She tried to calm herself down, but her heart was racing and her mind was spinning. She had never seen anyone so… perfect. His physique was absolutely breathtaking, and she couldn’t help but admire the way his muscles rippled beneath his pant. It was as if he had been sculpted from marble, with every inch of his body carefully crafted by the god themselves.
She wondered if he knew the effect he had on her. Did he realise how attractive he was?
Max wasn’t left out, even though he considered Damien’s his brother he couldn’t help but admire his body.
“G-g-good morning”. Crystal stammered.
“How are you, Tesoro ? Did you sleep well?”. He smirks.
“I did, you?”.
“Same”.
“Good!” Crystal replied, trying to project as much normalcy as possible. “How about we start with some breakfast? I was thinking about making some pancakes. What do you guys think?.” She busied herself gathering ingredients from the fridge, desperate to break the tension.
Max and Damien looked at each other, then back at her.
“Pancakes sound great!” Max said, the enthusiasm in his voice sounding a bit forced. “Can we help?”
“What do you mean “we?”. Damien glared at him.
“Did I bring her here for you to keep following her around?”. He added.
Max tried hard not to laugh as he stared at his jealous boss. He tried to hide his amusement, but he couldn’t help but grin at Damien’s obvious jealousy.
“Oh, come on, boss. There’s no need to get your panties in a twist. I’m just being friendly. You should try it sometime.”
Damien shot him a withering look. “Watch it, Max. I’m still your boss, and I could fire you if I wanted to.”
“Then I will take crystal along with me”.
“Don’t you dare!”. Damien growl, grabbing a spatula ready to hit it on max
Max chuckled, thoroughly enjoying riling up his boss. “I’m just messing with you, man. I have no intention of stealing your girl. But I do think you need to lighten up a bit. You’re way too serious all the time.”
Damien looked like he was about to snap, but then he let out a long sigh.
“Whatever.”
“You both shouldn’t start your own today. Yesterday it was Liam. Leave my kitchen now”. She ordered, pushing them out.
“Hey, come on now,” Max protested, holding his hands up in a defensive gesture. “We were just having a little fun. No harm done.”
Crystal shot him a look that could have frozen molten lava.
“That’s how Liam and Damien started too, playing around before getting in a heated argument.”
“Now leave, I will call you when I’m done”.
Damien and Max both walked into the large parlour, falling into the huge cushion.
“Lover boy”.
“Stop it”. Damien growls.
“Alright, alright,” Max said, raising his hands in mock surrender. “I’ll stop teasing you. But seriously, boss, you need to relax a bit. It’s not good for your health to be so tense all the time.”
Damien glared at him, but then his expression softened a bit. “Maybe you’re right,” he admitted. “I just have a lot on my mind lately. Things have been a bit stressful lately.”
Max’s smile faded and he looked at Damien with concern.
“You can talk to me if you need to, boss.”
Damien stared at him, remembering his conversation with Crystal that day.
“Perhaps you have something you want to tell me?”. Damien said.
Max looked a little taken aback by the question, and he hesitated for a moment before answering. “Well, actually… there is something I’ve been meaning to tell you, but I wasn’t sure how you will take it.”
“You can tell me anything, Max. We’ve been together for a long time, and I trust you.” Damien’s tone was reassuring, and he gestured for Max to continue.
Max took a deep breath, biting his lips nervously. His heart was beating so long that he could hear and feel it in his throat.
“Damien……” he trailed off.
“I-I-I…..”. He stuttered continuously.
Oh goodness. What if Damien takes it the wrong way again? He really didn’t want to leave Damien side again.
“Max!!.” Damien called, assuring him to go on.
“I’m really sorry, I never meant for it to happen”.
