Gina strolled out of Liam Callahan’s penthouse, deeply engulfed in thoughts and seriously deliberating on what she had heard from Liam while he spoke on the phone. She was listening to the call all along and had walked back and pretended to have come out from her daughter’s room that moment.
A feeling of bewilderment clawed at her as she discovered vital information- Liam was having second thoughts about his fiancee. He had always been able to see things from a different perspective; always calculative. If Liam had sensed something going on with Isabelle, then there must be a problem she wasn’t aware of. Her daughter was hiding something from everyone, a secret that would be quite useful. She ought to find out.
“Welcome ma’am” the polite greeting of the security man working for Russo company jolted Gina from her thoughts.
“Thank you” she responded with a smile plastered on her face as she sauntered through the elevator leading to Damien’s office.
The light tap on the door of Damien’s office failed to draw his attention the moment she stepped into his office.
“Damien…” she yelled out with a tone hinting at a slight irritation. “Penny for your thoughts… I’ve been standing here for the past five minutes”
“Oh! Gina you’re here”Damien exclaimed as he quickly tried to gather his thoughts together. “I’m sorry, I was bothered about something else”
Gina raised a suspicious brow at his words, “What are you thinking about?”
Her questions made Damien sigh in frustration. He was endlessly tired of her meddling in his affairs and influencing every step that he took or any decisions that he made. As always, his goals was the only reason he was coping with her nagging. He deliberated for a while before deciding not to open up.
“I was stressed about the current happenings like the project Phoenix. The work is quite difficult for my technicians” Damien half lied with a straight face. In actual sense, he was deeply worried about the call from the doctor, informing him of Rachael’s sudden decision to discharge herself. He was meant to call her or even search for her, but his pride was way stronger than his guilt. He was going to wait till tomorrow. If she doesn’t appear at work, he’ll take the next step that comes to his mind.
“Just that, are you sure?” Gina’s suspicious gaze deepened. “Don’t forget that the oath was to keep secrets from each other”
“I know, Gina, and I assure you that there’s nothing else to tell”Damien countered her words. He wasn’t going to go back on his words. What was the purpose of his ego?…
“So, what brings you back here at this time of the night?” Damien inquired, trying to deviate from the main topic.
“Well, I went to the Callahan’s penthouse and I got some information just as I had expected” Gina revealed with excitement rising in her tone. “I thought it was best to let you know immediately. You know, the earlier the better”
“Come sit, my dear” Damien gripped her gently by the arms, pulling her towards the expensive couch in his office. “Now tell me what did you get?”
Damien’s curiosity was at its peak as Gina readily explained in detail, the events that had transpired in Liam’s house. From meeting Max to her daughter’s fever, then to the main deal, Liam’s distrust towards Isabelle, his fiancee.
“My dear, you’re one hell of a genius” Damien complemented with glittering eyes as he couldn’t help but pull Gina into a hug for the good news she had brought to him.
“You’ll have to assign someone to do us the honor of getting the videos from the security cameras” Gina suggested with a knowing look.
“Sure, I’ll send Rachael…..”
“No, don’t” Gina refused cutting him short, but then she quickly realized her actions and tried to reframe her words,” She is currently wounded which makes her indisposed. Imposing such a daunting task on her could make her condition worse”
Damien reasoned with her words and without hesitation, agreed to send someone else to do the job. “I’ll send someone more reliable but meanwhile, I believe spreading rumors about this information could bring more opportunities to our table”
“Hmm… That makes sense a lot” Gina nodded her head slowly in agreement. Then, an idea popped up in her head”What about Max?”
“No.. involving him will only have more issues on our plate. Leave him to play his part. He’ll be useful that way”Damien concluded with a dismissive wave of his hand

“Boss, I found something” Adrian revealed to his boss with a hint of hesitation. His discovery was something his boss wouldn’t accept.
Liam, who sat comfortably on his office chair with closed eyes finally spoke after a moment of silence, “Give me the details, Adrian”
“Sir, young madam didn’t come home immediately after you left” Adrian stated with a solemn look in his eyes as he mentally prepared himself for his boss’s outburst.
Liam’s eyes shot open immediately, “where did she go?” He asked with a cold voice.
“Your cousin, Max picked her up by the roadside. That was the last thing the security cameras displayed on the screen” Adrian concluded as he inhaled deeply.
The temperature in the room dropped instantly as Liam stood up and walked over to the window, his heavy footsteps echoed repeatedly as he stood at the window staring at the sky with clear severity. A calm atmosphere was set in place, a huge contrast to the chills emitting from Liam’s aura.
“Adrian” he called out with a tone of severity. “Find out what happened after that and let me know as soon as possible”
“Alright sir.. um… There’s something else” Adrian shivered, a result of the chilly temperature in the room. “I detected a signal from the Russo’s company. It looks like they were also after the same information. The problem is how did they find out about the order you had issued to me?”
Liam kept staring at the adjacent building through his window. His cousin had pushed him to his limits. His promise to his father wasn’t going to stop him from taking drastic action. It was time he put that treacherous cousin of his in his place.
