“Hahahaha…..” Laughter erupted right in the office of Damien Russo whose eyes were keen on the television. “Liam Cahallan… You must have an undeniable charm to have both your former lover and your cousin launch a sync attack on you”
Damien had plotted his schemes but who would have thought that such an interesting and pleasing incident would occur, giving his well-orchestrated plot a grand opening to present itself?
“Too bad it didn’t end as expected” Damien mumbled to himself as he let out a throaty chuckle oblivious to the menacing glare glued to him. A question abruptly popped up in his head.
“Um… Rachael, where were you? You weren’t at your desk when I came looking for you?” He berated her with a raised brow.
“Huh… I went out for a walk. I needed some breath of fresh air” she responded with a bright smile on her face but beneath her happy voice laid a tone laced with a hidden meaning that made Damien shiver deep down in his heart.
“For that long?” He probed further, bothered by the disturbing feeling her smile stirred up in his heart. “You…. ”
The door to Damien’s office was flung open startling the two people in it. A woman dressed in a dark purple gown that complemented her aura, adorned with expensive jewelry walked in majestically, exuding a kind of confidence that drew people’s attention. The fragrance of her perfume wafted into the air, enveloping the space as she sauntered into the office.
“Gina….” Damien muttered in surprise as her presence shut the curse that threatened to escape from his lips ” You didn’t inform me that you were coming”
“Oh! I just decided at the last minute to stop by since I wasn’t far from here” she remarked with a dismissive wave of her hands as her gaze darted from Damien and rested on Rachael.
“Um. Rachael, can you please excuse us?” Damien requested with a pleading gaze at Rachael whose expression was unpleasant as she glared hard at Gina. The hatred in her heart was deeper than the depth of an ocean. She had already taken a step to pulling them apart, there was no turning back. They could enjoy their beneficial friendship while it lasted.
Damien’s gaze flashed with a tinge of guilt as it lingered on the door where Rachael had walked through. The more he felt sorry for her, the more he pulled away, sinking into the depths of his ambitions, his thirst for revenge. He felt a warm but chilly touch on his chin which pulled him out of his thoughts.
“You’re not thinking about her, are you?” Gina queried with an evil smirk mixed with a seductive gaze on her face that made Damien feel a sense of unease but a magnetic pull towards her.
“Of course not, my darling. Just a feeling of pity” Damien uttered in defense as his lips morphed into a seductive smile. Unbeknownst to them, Rachael was eavesdropping on their conversation. His words cut deep, like a knife into her soul. The piercing sense of betrayal hit her hard. She had also convinced herself that his betrayal was all for the sake of his revenge, but his words at that moment, opened her eyes to the hurtful truth thereby strengthening her resolve to destroy them completely. The two players’ conversation was a dagger to her heart but she had to listen if she needed a weakness to exploit.
“Have you seen the news?” Gina whispered into Damien’s ear in a low voice, her hands massaging his shoulders as she sat on his lap.
“Yes, I have,” Damien mumbled his voice barely a whisper as he felt numb from her tickling hot breath grazing his bare neck. “It will help us further our plans” he managed to say.
Gina chuckled heartily at his expression, feeling a sense of pride about the effect she had on him. “We need to move fast and that assistant of yours, don’t you think she needs to be out of the picture?” She suggested as she chose her words carefully, unsure of the bond between them.
Damien was brought back to his senses by her words. Rachael would never betray after all they’ve been through together, right?…. “She wouldn’t think of snitching on us. You should watch your words” he uttered, feeling upset.
“I was just kidding” Gina snorted, realizing she had hit a soft spot. She was going to make him trust her fully to influence his decisions in a way that would favor her completely. But she imperatively needed to shield her daughter from the repercussions that would result from her actions.

Kyle Brenett sat comfortably on his sofa, nursing the wounds and bruises he had obtained from the brawl between him and Liam. He had managed to cause a dent in Liam’s reputation but the main plan had failed woefully. The masses would begin to question Liam’s authenticity but that was enough. He desired more ways to plunge his ex-lover’s life work to the ground. His train of thought was derailed by a phone call that resonated through the room.
“Hello, Kyle… Looks like we have a problem at hand” the caller on the other end stated in a low baritone voice.
“Hmph.. looks like?” Kyle snorted with a gloating tone “We do have a problem at hand. Maybe, if you had gone straight to the point instead of messing around, then we wouldn’t be in this situation” he accused with an angry tone in his voice.
“Hmm…..” The caller sighed “At least we managed to instill a sense of unease and desperation. I know my cousin well enough. He’ll act irrationally and then, we would be able to take him down” the caller pacified.
“Suit yourself,” Kyle said dismissively. “What about the fiancee, have you gotten a hold of her?” He curiously asked in anticipation. They were both in cahoots after he had Liam had broken up when they both realized that they had the same goal.
“Haha… That’s my area of specialization, Kyle. I always get what I want with the ladies” the caller said with a sense of pride, feeling satisfied by his achievement.
“Good! We could use that to throw him completely into chaos. That way, he wouldn’t be able to deal with the blow directed at his company and his relationship at the same time. We need evidence” Kyle muttered excitedly before ending the call as he imagined what the coming storm would present to him as a profit.
