Liam walked towards the door, his steps firm and decisive. He had to act, and he had to act now. He needed to find out who else had been compromised, and who else was working with Damien Russo. He couldn’t let his life, his business, be destroyed by this insidious betrayal.
He stepped out of the penthouse, the cool morning air a stark contrast to the wave of anger that coursed through him. He knew who to blame, who to seek out. His instincts told him that Kyle Barrett was at the heart of this, a viper in the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
He slipped into his Bentley, the engine roaring to life, a symphony of power and rage. He punched in the address, his hands gripping the steering wheel, his knuckles white with tension.
He needed answers, he needed justice, and he needed to protect Isabelle, no matter what the cost.
As the Bentley sped through the city streets, Liam’s mind raced his thoughts a whirlwind of fury and paranoia. He couldn’t let Kyle Barrett win, not this time. He wouldn’t let him ruin his life, his future.
He was Liam Callahan, and he was not one to back down from a fight.
He arrived at Kyle’s house, a sprawling bungalow perched on a hill overlooking the city. The front door was a solid oak, studded with iron hinges, the only hint of vulnerability was a narrow window set high above the entrance.
Liam reached out, his knuckles rapping sharply against the wood. The sound echoed in the silence, the only evidence of his presence, the only sign of his brewing fury.
He waited, the blood pounding in his ears. He felt a familiar surge of adrenaline, the kind he had relied on countless times in the cutthroat world of high finance. But this was different. This was personal.
The door creaked open, revealing Kyle Barrett, his face a mix of surprise and annoyance. His hair was tousled, his eyes red-rimmed, as if he had just woken up.
“Liam?” Kyle said, his voice surprised, laced with a hint of incredulity. “What are you doing here?”
Liam didn’t bother with pleasantries. He had come for answers, and he intended to get them.
“You’ve been threatening Isabelle,” he said, his voice a tight hiss, his eyes blazing with anger. “You’ve been trying to sabotage my marriage, haven’t you?”
Kyle’s face shifted, his surprise giving way to a smirk. “That’s a rather bold accusation, Liam,” he said, his voice smooth as silk. “What would make you think that?”
Liam’s anger boiled over, a volcano ready to erupt. “Don’t play dumb with me, Kyle.” he snarled, his voice tight with fury. “I know you’re behind this. I know you’ve been interfering with her life.”
“What makes you think I’d do such a thing?” Kyle asked, his voice laced with mock innocence. “We haven’t exactly been on good terms lately, but I’m not some petty ex-lover out for revenge.”
Liam slammed his fist against the door frame, the sound echoing in the silence. “Don’t you dare pretend you’ve moved on! You’re the one who broke things off, the one who left me for a younger, more glamorous model. And now you’re trying to ruin my life, my marriage because you can’t stand the thought of me being happy.”
“You’re paranoid, Liam,” Kyle said, his voice laced with disdain. “You’re ashamed of yourself, ashamed of the truth, and you want to play Mr. Perfect now. But you can’t outrun your past. Your secret is out.”
Liam’s rage intensified, his fists clenched, his knuckles white with fury. “You’re the one with the secrets, Kyle,” he spat. “You’re the one who can’t face the truth. You’re the one who’s afraid to be happy.”
“I’m not afraid of anything,” Kyle said, his voice cold and hard. “And you’re going to find out, Liam, just how much power I have. You have no idea what’s coming.”
Liam’s rage finally reached its boiling point. He took a step forward, his eyes locked on Kyle’s. “You’re going to regret this, Kyle,” he whispered, his voice laced with a chilling threat. “You’re going to regret messing with me.”
He threw a punch, a straight right that landed square on Kyle’s jaw. The sound of the impact echoed in the air, sharp and brutal. Kyle stumbled backward, his hand flying to his jaw, his eyes flashing with pain and rage. He staggered, his grip on the doorknob slipping, the door swinging open with a crash. The force of the impact sent Kyle tumbling backward, crashing against the wall.
Kyle’s eyes narrowed, his fists clenched. He slowly got to his feet, his jaw throbbing, his face contorted with anger. He glared at Liam, his gaze filled with a burning hatred.
“You’re going to pay for this,” he whispered, his voice raspy with anger.
Just then, a shadow fell over them. A police officer, his face etched with concern, stood at the top of the steps, his gaze switching between Kyle and Liam, both of whom were breathing heavily, their bodies tense, their faces locked in a silent duel.
“Is everything alright here?” the officer asked, his voice calm but authoritative.
Kyle instantly switched gears, his anger melting into a forced smile. He put a hand on Liam’s shoulder, his grip tight, almost painful, a stark contrast to the casual air he was trying to exude.
“It’s nothing, officer,” Kyle said. “Just a lovers’ quarrel. We’re all fine.”
The officer looked at them, his gaze skeptical. He scanned their faces, noting the red mark on Kyle’s jaw, and the tense posture of both men.
“I was just driving through the neighborhood when I got a call from your neighbors,” the officer said. “They were a bit concerned about the noise.”
“We just got a little carried away,” Kyle said, his smile widening, his voice dripping with a fake sincerity that was almost comical.
The officer, clearly unconvinced, offered a final warning. “Well, just try to keep things down, okay?”
He turned and walked away, his footsteps fading into the distance. The moment the officer was out of sight, Kyle’s smile dissipated, replaced by a cold, calculating stare. He looked at Liam, his eyes filled with a dark intensity.
“You have no idea what’s coming, Liam,” he whispered, his voice laced with malice.
Liam glared at him, his eyes burning with a simmering rage. “I’m ready for you, Kyle,” he said, his voice low and dangerous. “I’m ready for anything you throw at me.”
He turned and walked away, his footsteps echoing in the silence, his anger a burning ember in his chest. He had to protect Isabelle, protect himself. He had to win this fight, no matter the cost.
As Liam disappeared down the driveway, Kyle watched him go, a cruel smile playing on his lips. He pulled out his phone, his fingers flying across the screen. He had a plan, a perfect play, and he knew it would be the final blow.
He tapped out a number, his thumb hovering over the call button. Then, with a sinister grin, he pressed it.
“I have some juicy news for you,” he said, his voice smooth as velvet, laced with a dangerous undertone. “Something you won’t want to miss.”
He listened, a sly smile spreading across his face as the voice on the other end of the line became increasingly agitated.
They were going to be surprised. He had given them exactly what they had been waiting for. It was time to put Liam Callahan’s world on fire…
