“Well… I was planning not to let you go last night, but what a shame I got injured.” Callum told Aurelia his thoughts truthfully. He had been patient for long enough. If he didn’t take action, he would definitely go crazy.
Aurelia glared at him speechlessly. “But since you got injured, just give up the idea!”
“But instead of my injured arm, there’s another part of my body that desperately needs attending to. Aurelia, I can still hold you up with one arm. Why don’t we try…”
Aurelia was really going crazy. What was wrong with Callum today? He kept talking dirty and his hands were wanton. She stepped heavily on the back of his foot. “Can you talk properly?”
The man chuckled at her shy yet frantic expression, lowered his head and kissed her gently. “Honey, I promised you to go to the hospital, you have to give me something in return.”
Aurelia couldn’t help but smile at his sudden “honey” and asked softly, “What do you want in return?”
“You’ll know!” As soon as he finished speaking, she fell into his arms, their lips met, and the only sound in the room was slightly rapid breathing.
When she came out of the room, Aurelia covered her hot face and rushed back to her room to find a new mask.
Finally, Aurelia armed Callum and made sure that he would not be recognized after putting on sunglasses and a mask, and then the two of them left the villa.
Rory had made an appointment at the hospital, and Callum’s bandages were removed and the medicine was reapplied. It took two hours to get everything done.
Callum held Aurelia’s hand and did not leave the hospital, but walked towards the inpatient department.
“Where are we going?” Aurelia asked confused.
“Go to the inpatient department. Laura is still in the hospital for observation.”
As soon as the two of them walked to the door of the ward, they heard Laura’s happy laughter coming from inside. Aurelia clearly saw the corners of the man’s lips slightly raised.
She grimaced quietly.
Laura was sitting by the bed in the ward, accompanied by Alex and Roy. At this moment, Alex made Laura giggle.
The moment she saw the two people suddenly appear, Laura’s eyes lit up and she trotted over to Callum. “Callum, are you okay? Does the wound still hurt?”
Callum let go of Aurelia’s hand and caught the girl who ran over to him. “Yeah, I’m fine. Don’t do any strenuous exercise.”
“I’m much better now, but Roy won’t let me leave the hospital!” the girl complained aggrievedly in his arms.
“It’s for your own good.” Callum pulled her out of his arms. “Aurelia is here too. Ask her if she agrees to let you out of the hospital.”
Laura seemed to have just seen Aurelia and greeted her shyly, “Hello, Aurelia. I’m sorry. I was too worried about Callum to notice you’re here. After all, he was injured because of me. I feel guilty…”
Aurelia tried hard to suppress the discomfort in her heart and said indifferently, “Laura, you don’t have to feel guilty. It’s Callum’s duty to protect you. After all, your parents had a life-saving grace towards him.”
“Ah, Callum told you everything?”
“Yes, Callum and I are a couple, and there are no secrets between a husband and a wife, right?” Aurelia smiled slightly, took Callum’s hand, interlocked their fingers, and finally raised her head to look sweetly at Callum beside her.
Callum squeezed her hand and met her eyes, tenderness in his eyes evident.
He loved to hear what Aurelia said just now.
“Hey, are you here to see Laura or to show off your wife?” Alex protested loudly.
Hearing this, Callum put away his gentleness and gave Alex a cold look, “Get lost if you can’t bear it!”
“Callum, we’ve been friends for more than ten years, and not only were you rude to me, you even chased me away. Pals before gals! Remember?”
Alex put his hands in his trouser pockets. Although his tone sounded very dissatisfied, his expression was nothing but nonchalant.
“Why didn’t you show up when I was injured?” the man responded bluntly. Everyone went to check in on Callum last night, except Alex.
Alex didn’t feel any guilt when he heard that, and admitted openly, “Laura is much more important than you. Of course I had to make sure Laura was okay before I went to see you!”
Laura laughed, went over and pulled Alex’s sleeve and acted coquettishly. “Alex, you are the best!”
“Of course!” Alex casually grabbed Laura’s shoulder and looked at Callum provocatively.
Callum didn’t bother to talk to him and asked Roy, who was silent beside him, “What did the doctor say?”
“An asthma thing again. Don’t worry. Laura can be discharged tomorrow morning.” Roy withdrew his gaze from the window.
Callum said nothing more, pulling Aurelia to sit on the sofa beside him, crossing his legs elegantly, and watching Laura and Alex talking and laughing.
After a while, the door of the ward was opened again. This time, Elliot and Renata came in.
Elliot saw Aurelia and greeted her first, “Hi, Aurelia.”
Aurelia tried to stand up from the couch, but as soon as she stood up, she was pulled back to her seat by Callum, and she looked back in confusion.
Callum said calmly, “This is not a school. There’s no need to be so polite to him.”
Elliot smiled gently and said nothing.
Aurelia speechlessly withdrew her gaze and greeted the two people again, “Hello, Mr. Richmond and Renata.”
Elliot nodded and went to Laura’s side.
Renata, on the other hand, waited until Elliot passed by, then walked over to Aurelia. “How is Callum’s arm now?”
Aurelia looked at the smiling woman in confusion. Callum was right beside her. Why didn’t she ask him directly?
Without waiting for her to speak, Renata raised her voice. “Aurelia, as Callum’s wife, you know better than anyone about your husband’s current situation.”
“He… I…” Aurelia was truly confused.
Renata pulled Aurelia from Callum’s arms, put her arm around Aurelia’s shoulder intimately, and smiled helplessly, “When we went there last night, you slept soundly next to him. No wonder you didn’t know. You must be tired after taking care of Callum!”
Aurelia was in a daze. It turned out they had been to the villa last night.
Thinking of her sleeping face being watched by a group of people, she turned around and rolled her eyes at Callum. “Callum, why don’t you wake me up?”
The man raised an eyebrow, “I’ll pay attention next time.”
Renata was amused by them and seemed to have just remembered to ask Laura, “When will you be discharged from the hospital?”
Laura replied sweetly, “Thank you for your concern. I will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow morning.”
Elliot reminded, “Where are your manners, Laura? You haven’t greeted my wife.”
