Suzanne drove away. Aurelia took out two cards and gave them to her two friends, explaining with a look of despair, “Callum doesn’t care about this little money at all. He said that if you two don’t accept it, it means you don’t treat me as a good friend. Just accept it. I feel helpless to accept it myself.”
Liana wanted to refuse again. “No, we have already taken the VIP card for the fifth floor of Alioth worth millions from Mr. Finnegan. Aurelia, how can we accept it?”
Aurelia shook her head. “I don’t understand the thoughts of rich people.” If what happened today was her accepting her friend’s husband’s gift which was worth millions, she would be embarrassed as Cathy and Liana did.
“Okay, both of you stop thinking about it and just take it.”
That night, when Aurelia decided to talk to Callum in person, Callum went on a business trip out of town. According to Rory who had just returned, Callum would be away for at least a month.
Although Callum was gone, she still had everything she was supposed to do, and there were people to supervise her. He really treated her like a woman, with yoga and dance classes during the day, and from time to time, he arranged flower arrangement, tea party, art exhibition, bowling, women’s baseball… and a milk bath and flower petal bath for her in the evening.
All she did were the daily things that a socialite in the upper class should do. Just when Aurelia was about to go crazy, Callum finally came back.
Since Callum went on a business trip, they had contacted each other via text message for more than two months. Aurelia certainly didn’t want to accept his arrangements, but Callum shut her down with just one sentence, and she never talked to him again.
Even after Aurelia found out that Callum had signed her up for a dance program at the school’s New Year’s Eve party, and she was going crazy and hating Callum more, she didn’t even call him to question him.
The day Callum came back was the New Year’s Day Gala. Because New Year’s Day was a Sunday, the gala was held three days in advance.
On the stage, Aurelia slowly walked onto the stage in a retro sky blue dance costume.
The moment the light hit her and her face was exposed to everyone’s sight, everyone in the audience was so shocked that they couldn’t say a word.
They couldn’t believe that Aurelia, whom they called a tomboy before, could be so ladylike and elegant.
Spinning, jumping, every dance move deeply attracted everyone’s attention.
When the dance ended, the audience burst into thunderous applause.
Aurelia did not feel any joy. She came down from the stage, changed her clothes, and left the school in a depressed mood.
She would never talk to Callum again, the man who would torture her every day even if he left. The folk dance was a success. He must be satisfied if he was there!
She opened the door of the villa and fell into a familiar yet unfamiliar embrace in the darkness, and her screams were blocked.
Phew… He was the only one who could scare her.
However, something seemed to be wrong. She seemed to smell blood.
Letting go of the man, she turned on the light in the villa and saw Callum covering his arm with one hand, which was covered in blood.
“What happened?” She anxiously grabbed his arm, and the man’s face turned pale.
Callum suppressed the emotions that had just risen up. “It’s okay, call this number and ask him to come over.”
“I’ll take you to the hospital!” She threw her schoolbag aside and prepared to help him out.
Her action was stopped by Callum. “This matter cannot be known to the media. Send me upstairs. this is a doctor’s number. Don’t worry!”
Aurelia’s eyes turned red with distress, and she dialed the number on his phone. After the incident, she complained unhappily while helping him walk upstairs, “You still remember to come back? And you came back with injuries. You have me worried sick!”
Callum stopped, touched her face, and praised her sincerely, “I saw your performance. It was great!”
Aurelia was about to cry when she thought about her life in the past two months. “Callum, you bastard. The classes you arranged for me are killing me! I don’t want to be a socialite. I just want to be myself…”
“Okay, then don’t do it.”
Callum was initially determined to force Aurelia to take the classes, but after seeing the aggrieved look in her eyes, he instantly softened his heart and changed his mind.
“Humph, only when your life is in my hands now did you listen to whatever I say! When I sent you a message to protest, didn’t you swear that you were doing this for my own good?” She had only protested that one time, but Callum shut her down, saying it was for her own good. Since then, perhaps she was just sulking with him, she never sent him a message.
What made her even angrier was that she didn’t contact him, and he never contacted her on his own initiative. Wasn’t that infuriating?
“I don’t want to see you feeling aggrieved.” Perhaps it was too much for her. He was surprised that she did not go abroad to find him. After all, she was so lively and carefree.
“How can you be so hateful? You had made my days a living hell for the two months you were away, and now that you’re back, you want to coax me into submission by giving me a little sweetness? No way!” Her voice was slightly choked with sobs, and there was a hint of coquettishness in it that she was not aware of.
Helping him to his bed, Callum laid down and held her hand. “I’m sorry for upsetting you. I won’t do it again.”
She cried so hard that she couldn’t make a sound. She stretched out her fist and hit him on the arm. Then, remembering that he was injured, she turned her fist to his chest.
The man held her hand and pulled her into his arms. “Why? Don’t you miss me after not seeing me for two months?”
“W-Why should I miss you? I don’t miss you at all.” Aurelia was stubborn and said this at the moment. She fell into the man’s arms and had to be careful not to touch his wound.
“But I miss you so much.” His magnetic voice sounded in her ears.
Aurelia’s heart was beating fast and her face was flushed. She really didn’t know how to answer his question, so she simply changed the subject and asked casually, “What happened to you? Why did you get injured? Was it because you protected a woman somewhere?”
This time, the man was silent.
His silence made her heart sink. She stood up from his arms and glared at the man. “Looks like I got it right!”
At this moment, she felt uncomfortable and bitter.
He held her hand again, saying, “Do you know why Roy and I adopted Laura? Because her parents died tragically at the hands of others in order to protect us.”
So, the woman he saved was Laura.
Aurelia didn’t know what she felt, but it was very complicated. The feeling of thinking that Callum did the right thing but at the same time feeling sour and uncomfortable. She herself couldn’t understand.
