LOVED THIRTY EIGHT

Surprisingly Ophelia agreed to make up with Cade at that moment and they agreed that having meals together while being friends was not too much as long as they did not overdo it.
“Let us make a pinky swear that none of us will fall in love with the other party,” she said stretching her pinky to him.
“A pinky swear? What are you five?” he asked amused by her mind and the way it worked.
“Well, a pinky swear was never said to only be done by children, adults can totally make pinky swears” she said a frown and warning expression on her face.
“Okay, so I totally agree with you that none of us should fall in love with the other and to make it better I do not believe in love but..”
“Don’t you dare say what if, it is impossible and will never happen so just swear now” She cut him off before he could paint a scenario. She feared that any scenario he might make up might make sense making her consider it if it ever came up.
“Just look at it like a ten-year contract strictly business” she explained.
“We can at least have a little fun”
“Only when necessary,” she said. He was not sure if she was fliting back or if it was all in her head but he agreed struck out his pinky and corked it on hers holding it tightly like his life depended on it.
“What now?” he asked when their hands remained intertwined after a few seconds.
“Usually when I do this pinky swear with my boyfriends we usually finish it off with a kiss, I do not know if that is appropriate now,” she said causing a smirk to appear on his face.
“You know if you wanted to kiss this handsome face all you had to do was ask and it’s all yours” he said pouting.
“Uggh” she exclaimed mimicking a gagging as she pulled her finger away from his. “Now I have lost interest,” she said.
The smirk on his face widened as he said. “Oh so there was an interest?” he said she shook her head. “Keep the gift,” she said pointing to the bag in his other free hand.
“Thank you, I can not remember the last time I got gifts from someone, everyone assumes I already have everything and I do so” he said shrugging but she could see the hidden smile on his face and hear the unspoken words from his mouth. It was not about how pricey the gift was but that someone was thoughtful enough to get it that mattered to them.
“Is that not how our life feels?” she asked understanding every feeling he felt. They stood facing each other no words flying in the air but still having the greatest conversation of comforting each other. “So I need to go get ready to go out”
“You are going somewhere?” he asked confused. They had agreed to stay indoors until they got back from their honeymoon so he wondered where she was going when the idea was hers in the first place.
“Yeah I have to meet up with a few of my friends from school” she said.
“Why now? I thought we agreed to stay in until after the honeymoon?” he asked.
“I know we did but my friend travelled all the way from Starlit Haven for my wedding and missed it because of their delayed flight so I thought it would only be right to see them before they went back” she explained.
“You went to school at Starlit Haven?” he asked as if it was the first time he had heard it and she realized her mistake. She should not have mentioned it because she was sure it would unlock a lot of memories for him, some she might want to forget like that one night stand they spent together.
“Yeah,” she said dryly and his face lit up.
“Same here”
“I know that already” she replied before adding for clarification because of the expression on his face. “The entire Rosewood city knows where you studied and before you ask me, we did not go to the same university. I was at least forty minutes away from you”
“You seem to know it all”
“Because your business is currently always on the internet, it is hard to look away from it,” she said giving him a small smile before it dropped from her face.
“Well, that I can not disagree with,” he said and she nodded.
“Can I go get ready now? I would not spend that much time outside and we would be in a top VIP location” she explained. She felt like a teenager trying to get an excuse to go out from her dad. She had never experienced those kinds of feelings but she was sure this was what it felt like. She had always been left to fend for herself even with the wealth her family had.
Her mother was not in the picture anymore and her father was constantly away from the house like as if they lived in a haunted house and he was doing all he could do to avoid making contact with the ghosts that lived there. She had barely seen him and that was why when he sent her abroad she agreed to go because she had tried all to get his attention yet it was like talking to a rock.
“Okay but if you go out alone in public it might send a wrong signal, I will get ready and drop you off,” he said. She hated and loved that he made sense at the same time.
“I guess that can work,” she said feeling like the main female lead in a romance drama where the male lead was desperately trying to court her. He stepped out of the door frame and to the corridor. “See you in a jiffy,” she said as she closed the door.
“See you” he said lingering as the door closed shut slowly.
