Stella didn’t know what to say. She just looked at
Harper with a faint smile, which made Harper feel a little annoyed.
She asked them to sit on the sofa, then turned around and knocked on the door of the bedroom.
“Taya, someone’s looking for you.”
Taya had already woken up when they opened the door and came in.
She had heard their conversation outside, but was too weak to get up.
When she tried to get up, Harper had already come in.
Seeing that she wanted to get up but couldn’t, Harper immediately rushed over.
“Taya, what’s wrong?”
Jackson and Stella also came in.
Jackson wanted to step forward, but Stella beat him and said, “I am the doctor. You go away.”
Jackson was pushed to the side, and Stella stepped forward quickly. She raised her hand to touch Taya’s forehead, and then took out a thermometer to take her temperature.
“Did you get wet in the rain?”
The temperature was not very high, but for Taya, this bit of temperature could kill her.
When she walked out of Griffon’s villa, it was raining. Jackson had used his jacket to shield her from the rain, but she still got wet.
Jackson’s face was full of self-blame. He wanted to grab her hand, but Taya avoided him.
Occasionally, it was easy to forget just how delicate Taya was with no wolf to protect her and help her heal.
In front of Stella, Taya was afraid of being exposed, so she just avoided his touch and didn’t drive him away.
Her resistance was like a thorn in Jackson’s heart.
Taya would never be the same as before…
She once agreed with him that he shouldn’t take it seriously if she said hurtful words when she was angry.
He would wait for her to calm down and then coax her. She would definitely forgive him.
But he had been waiting at the door all night and still couldn’t get Taya back…
Stella saw their small movements, and she couldn’t help but have suspicion.
However, since she had found an excuse to see Taya,
she would not ask any more questions.
“It’s just a slight fever. I’ll be fine after taking some aspirin.”
After taking Taya’s temperature and giving her some aspirin, Stella handed her the bag and the medicine she’d brought.
“This is what you left in Alpha Knight’s house. He asked me to return it to you…”
At first, Stella wanted to give her a few more boxes of medicine, but seeing that she kept winking at her as if she didn’t want the other two people in the room to know about her illness, Stella didn’t take them out.
“Thank you.”
Taya was grateful that Stella had helped her hide her illness.
Stella could tell and blinked at her. “You’re welcome.”
Taya looked at the coat on the table and said, “Stella, please take the coat back to him.”
Stella followed her gaze.
If they broke up, why would she have worn his coat home?
Stella had many questions swirling around, but she couldn’t ask any of them. She nodded, picked up the coat, and left with her medical bag.
When Harper heard that Taya only had a low fever and was fine, she heaved a sigh of relief.
She sat in front of the bed and helped Taya sit up.
Taya looked at Jackson, standing by the bed like a statue. “You can leave now.”
Jackson’s heart skipped a beat. Something was choking him again, making it hard for him to breathe.
How could Jackson accept this? How could the old Silas accept this?
His eyes were red as he stared at her pale face. “Taya, please give me another chance…”
“I’ve made myself clear to you,” Taya said with a poker face.
Hearing this, Harper understood that Taya would not forgive Jackson. She stood up and said to him, “You can leave. Right now.”
Jackson looked at Taya, who had turned her head away. The pain suddenly spread all over his body, making him shake.
His wolf wasn’t sure how to process anything he was feeling and was having a visceral bodily reaction.
“Are you so cruel to me because you’ve fallen in love with Griffon? I’ve loved you for most of my life. How can you do this to me?”
There was a sudden resentment in Jackson’s eyes. It was resentment towards Taya’s heartlessness and her falling in love with someone else.
She had been promised to him. They had plans.
Even though everyone else had looked down on her for being a human, for not getting her wolf, Jackson had still loved her and not cared.
And now she was doing THIS to him.
How dare she?
Taya looked at Jackson and clenched her fists. She gritted her teeth and said, “Yes, I fell in love with him. You know what I look like when I love someone. Since I’ve fallen in love with him, I won’t show mercy to anyone else.”
Hearing this, Jackson was so angry that he could not stop trembling, shifting partially into his wolf form.
He rushed forward, grabbed Taya’s chin in his clawed fingertips, and leaned over to kiss her.
His domineering kiss was the same as before. But in the past, Taya would respond to him…
Jackson slowly let go of Taya, who did not react at all. His heart completely sank when he saw the disgust in her eyes.
“Taya, you’ll regret this…”
Jackson turned around and staggered away.
Looking at his back, Taya felt a lump in her throat and burst into tears.
Seeing Taya like this, Harper was a little puzzled. “You obviously can’t bear to part with Jackson. Why did you send him away? Are you still blaming him for kicking you…”
Taya shook her head. “He didn’t do it.”
Taya told Harper about Jackson’s twin brother.
So, it was true that Silas had lost his memory and then become Jackson. He hadn’t lied to them.
Their love for Silas had not been in vain, but…
There was a profound look of confusion in Harper’s eyes. “Then why did you do this to him…”
Taya took a deep breath and was about to tell Harper about her late-stage heart failure when Harper’s phone rang.
“Damian’s calling.”
When Taya saw Harper’s bitter expression after hanging up the phone, she asked worriedly, “What happened?”
“He said something happened at his parents’, and he was rushing to get there.”
“Then don’t stay here with me. Hurry and go back with Damian to help take care of things,” said Taya.
Not only was Harper not rushing to leave, but she also sat down beside Taya’s bed.
“Damian said that his family owed others some debts. He’ll pay them back as soon as he gets back. I don’t have to go with him.”
I don’t Damian wants to take Harper home. He’s hiding something, thought Taya.
Taya looked at Harper sitting there, peeling an orange. She wanted to say something but didn’t know where to start.
Now that Harper and Damian were mated, regardless of what she said, she feared it would affect their relationship. Harper would always take her mate’s side.
After peeling the orange, Harper looked at Taya. She smiled and said, “I know what you’re worried about. Don’t be. I’ll handle it. Damian doesn’t want me to go back to his pack lands. It’s no big deal…”
