“Quentin!” Quentin grabbed her hand and saw a cut several centimeters long on her arm. His heart ached, but fortunately, it was not serious.
“It’s nothing, just a scratch from the stones those protesters threw,” Charlotte said with a bitter smile.
Quentin glanced at the messy scene filled with garbage.
He then looked at the group of protesters with eyes as cold as ice, making them shiver.
“What are you looking at? Trying to bully us? Come and hit us if you dare! We’ll sue your Time Group!”
“If you’re not happy, call the police. Let’s see who’s right!”
“Time Group! Unethical business!…”
Realizing Quentin was also from Time Group, they quickly resumed their protest, even more vigorously.
“Quentin, what should we do now? They won’t listen to any explanation,” Charlotte said, worried. Even calling the police wouldn’t help much in this situation.
“No worries, let me make a call,” Quentin said calmly and dialed Chad’s number.
“Mr. Holland, what can I do for you?” Chad answered respectfully.
“Send people to Time Group immediately to stop the protesters outside the building.”
“Understood! We’ll be there right away!”
Quentin hung up the phone.
“Wait a bit; I’ve notified the authorities.”
“Okay,” Charlotte nodded. She had no choice but to rely on Quentin now, and he had indeed managed to get official help before.
The protesters continued causing trouble, but soon several green jeeps arrived at the scene.
“What’s going on? Why are the authorities here?!”
“Does Time Group know these people?!”
“The boss said only the police would come at most.”
“Maybe we should leave now.”
Some of the smarter protesters started to run, while others continued their foolish shouting.
Soldiers from the war department got out of the jeeps, each holding steel guns with solemn expressions.
About twenty to thirty soldiers surrounded the protesters. Though they didn’t raise their guns, their presence was intimidating.
“Everyone, squat down with your hands on your heads. Any resistance will be met with severe consequences!”
The soldiers’ words were stern, and the protesters dared not resist. They dropped their trash and protest signs and squatted down with their hands on their heads.
Facing so many real guns, the protesters were terrified and trembling.
“Mr. Holland, the protest has been stopped. What are your orders?” a leading officer saluted Quentin.
“These people initially agreed to a settlement; some even took compensation. Now they’re causing trouble again. There must be someone behind this.”
“Take them all back and interrogate them thoroughly to find out who’s behind this.”
“Understood!”
Following Quentin’s orders, the leading officer commanded the soldiers to escort all the protesters into the vehicles and take them away.
The sudden protest was finally brought to an end.
Charlotte instructed the staff to clean up the scene and returned to the boardroom with Quentin.
“Quentin, you said someone is behind these protests. Is that true?” Charlotte asked, puzzled.
“I’m not sure yet; it’s just a guess. The truth was already revealed at the previous press conference. This could be the work of a competitor.”
“I’ll handle this. Let me treat your wound first. It might sting a bit,” Quentin said.
He took out a medical kit from the office, disinfected Charlotte’s wound with antiseptic, and wrapped it with gauze.
“Ouch, it hurts…” Charlotte winced as the antiseptic touched her wound.
Quentin smiled silently. Seeing him seriously treating her wound made Charlotte feel both touched and sweet inside.
“You need to be careful when I’m not around. Protect yourself…”
Before Quentin could finish, Charlotte suddenly kissed his cheek lightly, like a dragonfly touching water.
Quentin was stunned for a moment. When he came to his senses and saw Charlotte’s shy expression, he was delighted.
“Oh, taking advantage of me when I’m not paying attention? I’ll get back at you.”
“Stop it! This is the office. What if someone sees us?” Charlotte shyly resisted as Quentin tried to kiss her lips.
The more she resisted, the more Quentin wanted to kiss her, feeling a sense of conquest.
“Ms. Pittman, a Miss Shannon is here to see you,” someone knocked on the door suddenly.
“Ahem, come in,” Charlotte said.
They quickly let go of each other. Charlotte hastily tidied herself up while Quentin continued bandaging her wound.
The door slowly opened.
A noble and elegant woman walked in.
