“Mom, she….”.
“Let’s just go. We are late already”. Zayn interrupted Silas, pulling me up.
As Zayn led us out of the dinning, I could feel the heat of his anger rolling off him in waves. Silas and Ezra followed closely behind, their eyes darting between us, a mixture of concern and frustration in their expressions.
I gave them a little smile, to indicate I was fine. Zayn opened the back seat door for me, before entering into the driver’s seat. Silas and Ezra by my side.
The tension in the air was thick as Zayn fired up the car and pulled out of the driveway, the tires crunching against the gravel. Silas and Ezra were silent, their gazes locked on the road ahead.
I shifted uncomfortably in my seat, feeling a sudden sense of claustrophobia. They haven’t said a word. Were they mad at me?
“I’m sorry about earlier,” I said softly, breaking the silence. “I didn’t mean to cause trouble.”
“Don’t you fucking dare apologise”. Silas growl angrily.
Zayn’s eyes flashed to the rear-view mirror, a look of warning in his gaze. “Silas, calm down.”
“Calm down?” Silas scoffed. “How can I calm down? You heard Mom in there. She’s acting like Lyra’s presence is a bad thing, like she’s not a part of this family.”
Ezra cleared his throat, his voice gentle. “Maybe we should talk about this later, when we’re not in the car. You’re gonna scare her by getting all worked up”.
“Fine,” Silas snapped, turning to stare out the window.
“Don’t apologise when you’re not wrong, ok?”. Ezra whispered smoothly, pulling me closer to his chest.
Ezra’s touch was comforting, his warmth seeping through my skin. I leaned into him, feeling a little safer, nodding to his words.
“Where are we going? That’s not the way to school?”. I said.
“You haven’t eaten yet…”.
“Zayn, I am fine. Let’s just go please”. I plead. There is already enough tension at home, getting to school late and having everyone stare at us like we just finished fucking is something I don’t want.
Zayn let out a frustrated sigh, his knuckles turning white on the steering wheel. “We’ll go, but only if you promise to eat at lunch, okay?”
I nodded, my stomach growling in protest. “I promise. But I need to get to school, Zayn. I don’t want to be late.”
“Fine,” he muttered, turning the car around and heading in the right direction.

“I heard we got a new student, it’s a girl. Can’t wait to meet her”. Michelle giggled excitedly as I sat beside her in the class.
I rolled my eyes and chuckled. Michelle is literally the kind of girl that would make friends with over hundred people and choose the one she likes, ditching the rest.
“Yeah, and you’re gonna come back later and tell me “oh please, she was so proud and acted like the world revolves around her, I mean I only wanted to be friends”. I mocked.
Michelle scowled at me, her lips pursed in indignation. “You’re so cynical, Lyra,” she huffed. “Why can’t you just let me be friendly for once?”
“Because I know how it always turns out,” I retorted, laughing. “And besides, with the way you go through friends like they’re fashion accessories, I doubt this one will be any different.”
Michelle’s eyes narrowed, but then she grinned, nudging me with her elbow. “I guess I need to change you soon then” she teased.
“By the way, where are you alphas?”. She added, teasing me.
“They went to get food”.
“Why? You don’t want to go to the cafeteria? And you were hardly paying attention in class today, what wrong?”.
I rolled my eyes, trying to keep a straight face. “It’s a long story. Let’s just say I had a bit of an… altercation with their mother this morning.”
Michelle’s eyes widened in surprise. “Oh that’s new. I thought Luna loved you a lot”.
I sign, relaxing against the chair. “That’s what we all thought but here we are”.
“Leave that, tell me about the new girl”. I said, not wanting to discuss the topics any longer.
Michelle nodded, the excitement returning to her face as she turned to face the mysterious new girl.”Well, for starters, she’s a total babe,” Michelle said, lowering her voice to a whisper. “Like, drop-dead gorgeous. And apparently, she’s already got the whole football team vying for her attention. I mean she’s not even I. School yet and they are already fighting for her attention, someone posted her picture yesterday, although I didn’t get to see them but judging from everyone’s reaction, she must be drop dead gorgeous”. She paused, a naughty smirk on her face.
“You might want to hold on tighter on the alphas, who knows they might….”.
“Hahaha, very funny”. I frown, rolling my eyes. I haven’t even seen this girl yet but I’m already getting a bad feeling about it. I doubt if the triplets have seen her yet.
But whoever she is, she sure is making me uncomfortable with even doing anything.
