“Who is Callum?” Liam asked slowly.
Aurelia casually responded, “Forget it. Why are you calling?”
“I’ve been in Evercrest for a few days now, and I happen to have some free time tonight, so I’d like to treat you to dinner.”
“Oh, sorry, I’m not in Evercrest right now. I’m out having fun.”
Liam was surprised that Aurelia was not in Evercrest. Then he remembered that Aurelia liked traveling. She had been to many more places than he had.
“It’s okay. How about this? After I finish my work these two days, I’ll take you to England for a trip at the beginning of next month. Interested?”
Aurelia refused without a second thought. “No, I’ve been very busy lately. I have to attend various classes every day. I just took time out of my busy schedule to have a trip.”
Aurelia did have a busy schedule. After she returned home, there would definitely be endless dance classes, yoga classes, and German classes waiting for her.
“Aurelia, you’re lying to me. Others may not know this, but I know that you hate studying the most! Don’t use class as a pretext to fool me!”
“No, Liam, that was only in the past. Now I’ve signed up for yoga, dance, German, math, etc. Also… I don’t learn martial arts anymore.”
There was silence on the other end of the phone for half a minute. “Are you going to give up learning martial arts? You had never agreed to give up martial arts no matter how many times my mom and I asked you to do so. Why are you giving up now all of a sudden?”
And that long list of classes she was talking about, all of which she hated.
Aurelia smiled, “I don’t need to protect you now!” How could she protect him if she didn’t study martial arts well at that time? Oh! And his weak sister.
Indeed, she fell in love when she was 16 and was with Liam for two years until they broke up a few days before she turned 18. She had protected him and his sister like a tomboy for two years.
In the end, Liam still mocked her for being unfeminine. How ridiculous!
Liam’s heart tightened, and he apologized in a low voice, with infinite guilt in his voice, “I’m sorry, Aurelia. It was my fault. I didn’t treat you well and didn’t cherish you well. In the past three years, I regret it very much.”
What he said was true. He had been around many women in the past three years, but he could never find another woman who loved him as wholeheartedly as Aurelia did.
Aurelia couldn’t cook, so she bought and delivered meals to him.
She had a lively personality, but tried to be quiet in front of his family for his sake.
She was good at martial arts and he came from a wealthy family. Every time he was kidnapped or got into trouble, she would do her best to protect him and prevent him from getting hurt.
She couldn’t hold her liquor, but she was willing to drink for him. And over the course of time, she got to drink a lot.
The love she showed him was so great that he couldn’t count it all in one night.
He once failed her, but now that he was back. He wanted them to get back together and never let her go.
“Liam, it’s too late.” Every time she mentioned Liam’s name, she would feel pain. After all, she loved him all her heart. And what did she get in return?
Nothing but pain.
She casually passed by a dessert shop, where delicious desserts were placed in the glass cabinet. Durian-flavored mille-feuille, snow meringue, and cake were her favorites. In the past, every time she ate these, Liam would scold her, saying that they tasted disgusting and that she would get fat after eating them. He even told her explicitly not to eat these in front of him.
But that night, Callum… She could tell that Callum also hated durian. But even though he hated it, he was willing to eat it with her.
Also, for the desserts Aurelia and her friends had on the fifth floor of Alioth that day, Callum had arranged in advance for durian pastry and durian pancakes.
Callum was several years older than her, and he was much more thoughtful than her. Even on the dining table at home, durian-flavored desserts or dishes will appear from time to time.
On the first night, she sneaked into his room and was discovered by him instantly. After that, she never got caught sneaking into his room again. Now that she thought about it carefully, it was not that he didn’t notice it, but he probably let her sneak into his room and his bed on purpose.
But how did Liam’s sister, Alice Moore, treat her before?
It was Liam’s birthday, and it was too late at night, so she slept over at Liam’s home. She slept alone in the guest room, and there was thunder and lightning in the middle of the night. She was too scared to fall asleep, but she couldn’t go to find Liam. So, she knocked on Alice’s door.
Before she lay down, Alice pushed her out impatiently, locked Aurelia out of her room, and warned her not to disturb her sleep again.
Suddenly, Aurelia found that she missed Callum.
The man who was so domineering that he was annoying, so straight that he had male chauvinism, and so vindictive that he was hateful.
Aurelia then hung up the phone without giving Liam a chance to speak. Looking at the missed call on her phone, she decided that if Callum called again, she would definitely answer.
However, she had only been in Elfbeach for two days, and Callum hadn’t called her again.
After dinner on the third night, Aurelia rubbed her bloated belly and walked into a jewelry shop. Under the dim light, she pointed at a locket and said, “I wanna take a look at that.”
The bald, fat, and big-eared shop owner said with a grin, “Sure! The lockets we have here are guaranteed to be high-quality, and this locket is even more exquisite.”
“Oh, how much is this?”
“Twenty-eight thousand!”
That’s daylight robbery! Aurelia knew a little bit about jewelry. She held the locket under the light and took a close look at it. Obviously, it was not well-made and didn’t justify the price of 28, 000 dollars!
Putting the locket down, Aurelia said, “Let me take another look.”
When the shop owner saw her turn around, his expression immediately changed and he said fiercely, “Hey, you! How can you not buy it after seeing it?”
Aurelia was a bit confused. “Why should I buy it just because I see it? If I don’t like it, of course I won’t buy it.” What kind of logic was this?
The shop owner slammed the table twice before saying in a warning tone, “If you don’t want to buy it, what are you looking at? You must buy it today!”
“Oh, are you forcing me to buy it?” She observed the environment inside the store. Not far away, at an octagonal table, there were four wretched-looking men playing poker. When she met their eyes, Aurelia had a bad feeling.
“I am! Hurry up and pay for it! 28, 000 dollars, not a cent less!” The shop owner could tell from her dress that she was wealthy. He was not going to let Aurelia go until he managed to rip her off.
When faced with something like this, Aurelia just wanted to get away as quickly as possible, so she didn’t say anything more to him and turned around and walked out of the store.
But the shop owner took out a remote control from the side and locked the automatic door. “If you don’t buy anything today, don’t even think about leaving!”
Aurelia flared up. She rushed over and grabbed the owner’s collar, warning him fiercely, “Let me out!”
