Chapter 9 The Third Option

Book:Please Let Me Go, Mr. Sheridan Published:2024-8-20

Aurelia didn’t want to choose either of them. The current principal was the eldest son of the Richmond family, Elliot Richmond. She had countless reasons not to mess with Elliot.
But… Aurelia was shocked. The principals of other schools were at least 50 years old or 60, but the principal of her school was only 30!
Elliot had been one of the honorary principals of their school since last year. With his outstanding appearance and talent, he was also a man that made many female students crazy.
If she messed with Elliot, the students would see her as a common enemy.
The most important reason that Aurelia couldn’t mess with Elliot was because he was also Callum’s good friend and one of the Four Young Masters in Evercrest.
She couldn’t afford to mess with anyone who knew Callum!
Fortunately, Briar and a few others signed up for the marathon with her, so at least she had someone to run with.
Thinking about the marathon which was more than 21 kilometers long…
She wanted to kill herself.
However, Evelyn also offered her the third option, which was to find a place and yell ten times “Callum, I love you”.
Evelyn knew that Callum hated women taking the initiative, so she purposely offered Aurelia this devious option.
After comparing the three options again, Aurelia already had a plan in mind.
On the day of the half marathon, the weather in Evercrest was gloomy. Wearing the official marathon T-shirts, Aurelia and Briar moved their ankles and wrists to warm up before the race.
When several people saw the former marathon runner appear on the track, they were instantly confused. They came to realize that they were tricked by Evelyn! They all fell into her trap!
Aurelia couldn’t help but grit her teeth, swearing to get revenge.
Briar cursed and clenched his fists. “Damn it! That bitch dared to play tricks on me? Next time I see her, I’ll teach her a lesson!”
Aurelia took a deep breath and said nothing, mad at herself for being fooled by Evelyn.
Now that they understood what was going on, Cathy patted Aurelia’s shoulder encouragingly and said, “Aurelia, don’t force yourself. If you really can’t hold on any longer, just stop. At most, you can choose to lock Mr. Richmond in the office!”
Evelyn gave Aurelia three choices. The first one was to confess to Felix, the gay. That was impossible at all! And the third one… It would be better for Aurelia not to mess with Callum now. After considering all the options, the second one was the best!
However, Elliot was not someone who could be ticked off! Thinking of this, Cathy couldn’t help but curse inwardly. What kind of choice did Evelyn give Aurelia?
Aurelia hugged her back, “Don’t worry. I’ve won many long-distance running championships. Even though I haven’t run a half marathon, I’ve run five and ten kilometers. I won’t lose that easily! Besides, I’ll never lose to Evelyn!”
Though Evelyn desperately wanted to embarrass her in all kinds of ways, Aurelia had no intention of losing this game.
“Aurelia, I believe in you!” Thinking of the sports trophies Aurelia had won, Liana looked at her with admiration.
Aurelia responded confidently with a flying kiss. “I believe in myself too. Let’s go! It’s about to start!”
“Okay!”
There were more than 6, 000 runners and 500 volunteers in this half marathon. Students from several nearby schools came to support their classmates.
Add to that the fans of the Olympic champions who fired the starting gun, fans of several celebrities who came to cheer, and fans of the runner-up in the full marathon… There were huge crowds of people on both sides of the track at the starting line.
The half marathon representative had already started his speech on the stage. “Ladies and gentlemen, welcome. On this beautiful day with a cool breeze, we gather in this beautiful place…”
Aurelia was listening to the boring speech and was about to fall asleep when she heard a whistle from the front. All the contestants were alert, and there were waves of cheers from both sides of the track. Unexpectedly, Aurelia also heard many people calling her name.
“Aurelia, come on! You’re the best!”
She stood on tiptoe, looked into the distance, and unexpectedly found that more than a dozen people from Class 22 were cheering for her.
Briar beside her also looked a little surprised, and held her shoulder casually, saying, “Our classmates are really awesome this time!”
Liana took a deep breath and pointed to Briar. “That’s right! Aurelia, you know what? Larry and Briar called on them to support you, so how could they not come?”
These people were the ones Larry and Briar organized for Aurelia to come and cheer her on!
Before Aurelia could react, Briar started to complain, “Liana, can we keep this a secret for a while?”
Aurelia was touched and amused by Briar. She patted Briar and Larry on the arm and said, “Thank you, guys! I will do my best to live up to your expectations!”
Larry shook his head. “Aurelia, don’t put too much pressure on yourself. We are here to let you know you’re not alone. Even if you lose, we will accompany you to confess your love to Felix, or lock Mr. Richmond in the office!” As for the third one, after the previous unpleasant experiences between Aurelia and Callum, he didn’t even dare to think about it.
“Okay! It’s settled then. Let’s go confess our feelings to Felix together!” Aurelia felt that it was so great to have them around.
Cathy suddenly had an idea. “Aurelia, maybe you really should take Briar and Larry with you. Felix might fall in love with one of them and ignore you!”
Several girls burst into laughter. Larry and Briar walked towards Cathy, ready to give her a piece of their mind. As Cathy screamed, a gunshot was heard from the front, and the contestants next to them ran away in an instant.
Liana reacted first. “Run! We are the only ones left!”
Cathy was running in front, and Briar was chasing her from behind. “How dare you, Cathy? You’d better hurry up, or if I catch up with you, you’ll be dead!”
Aurelia tugged at Briar’s clothes and said, “Don’t run so fast at the beginning.” Running too fast at the beginning at long-distance running was never a wise option.
Half an hour later.
Many people were so tired that they started to walk quickly on the spot, gasping for breath.
In a school’s lounge which was only for special guests, a domineering man was sitting on the sofa smoking. Not far away was a huge screen showing a live broadcast of the marathon event.
“… includes posters, and mascots… Mr. Finnegan, is this okay?” Callum, who was the sponsor of all the necessities for the marathon, pursed his lips.
