LISA
“Remove every jewelry on her.” I heard the voice distantly. It was a masculine voice and even though my eyes were closed and I couldn’t find the strength to open them, I knew that it had to be a man in his late forties or early fifties at the very least.
“Yes sir” I heard a feminine voice I knew belonged to Irene.
Irene. Yes, she was the reason I was here. She was the one who injected me with some unknown substance and she was the one who brought me here.
I had done nothing wrong to her, right? Why did I have such luck at having friends? Why is no one a true friend to me? Francesca, Leon, Bryant and now Francesca? Why is there no one who is in a sincere relationship with me?
Lucius. He is the only who loves me. The only who is sincere with me is Lucius Devine. If only I could reach him. No, if only I had waited for him and not go to see Irene.
I felt my earrings being removed from my ears and then my hair clip and then I felt the hand on my wrist, attempting to remove the bracelet Lucius had given to me.
I shook my wrist with all the strength I had in me, recalling that Lucius had told me to never ever remove it but my little strength was not enough to even count as resistance.
The bracelet was removed from my wrist. I knew I was tied to a chair, my legs were tied and my hands were tied behind me too.
“Throw everything into the fire” I heard the masculine voice order.
“Yes sir” Irene replied.
How did Irene get into this? Why was she taking orders from this man? Or had she always been into this?
I didn’t even know what to think.
“I know you can hear me now” I heard the man say.
“I will wait until you are strong enough to open your eyes” he added and then silence fell in the room.
For about a minute, there was not a word said in the room and then I felt strong enough to open your eyes.
Opening my eyes dimly, I slowly took in the room. It was a small room, painted white and there was a shelf on the wall.
It was in front of the wall that the man who had been speaking earlier was seated, on a chair.
He had his gaze on me and it made me shiver in fear. He was looking at me like a hunter looking at his prey.
“Now that your eyes are opened, you look really beautiful” he grinned menacingly.
“I now understand why Lucius fell in love with you”
Lucius? How was he related to me being kidnapped by this man and Irene? Was it his relation with this that made him lie to me about Irene’s disappearance?
Even with how weak I was feeling, my brain was working on overdrive, seeking answers to the questions that were increasing by the second.
I turned my head slightly and my still dim gaze fell on Irene. She immediately looked away from my gaze the second our eyes met.
“What did I do wrong to you?” I asked in a whisper.
The man sitting on the chair stood up and walked towards me, the grin not leaving his face.
“Which will be more exciting?” He asked as he walked closer.
“Killing you and throwing your corpse to Lucius the moment he walks in here? Or letting him get here before I drive bullets into your lovely body so he watches life leave you?” He asked and I shook my head in fear.
Tears were quickly gathering in my eyes and my heart was pounding in fear.
“Sandro” Irene’s voice came and the man turned to look at her.
“We didn’t say we would kill her” Irene said and the man named Sandro laughed.
“And I didn’t say I would not. Lucius killed my brother…” His face turned grim as he turned back to face me.
“And I have to make him know what it feels like to lose someone. This death of this little bitch right here is the only death that would make Lucius feel what it is to lose someone. And anyways, she should have died since she was five. She should be glad she was allowed to live this long” he said.
“What’s… What’s going on here?” I found myself asking.
My fear had mixed with even more confusion now. Why were they talking about deaths? And why would Lucius have killed someone? And why should I have died since I was five?
I could not understand a thing.
“She knows nothing. She definitely knows nothing. She would not be dating Lucius if she knew anything” he grinned and then laughed.
“Do you want storytime before you die? Sounds exciting. Hating on Lucius and cursing him with your last breath before you die would be satisfying for me. I would stand right here and lay your corpse in front of me and then tell him that your last words were ‘I hate Devine with all my life and I would not forgive him even in the afterlife’. That would be so exciting” Sandro cackled.
“Your darling Lucius Devine…” Sandro crouched down in front of me and reached his hand to my face.
“Don’t… Don’t touch me” I whispered and sniffled, feeling disgusted by him.
But he forcefully grabbed me by my chin and forced me to look at him.
“Little bitch! You are quite stubborn, aren’t you? Just like your father, Seb. Stubborn and witless! Do you wanna know how your father died? Aren’t you curious?” He asked as tears rolled down my cheeks.
I could see Irene and she was avoiding looking at me. This… This would be the last time I attempt having a friend.
“Your darling Devine killed your father” he grinned and I felt my whole world go dark.
That was impossible! Lucius could not have killed my father. He was my father’s best friend, right? He could not have killed my father. Why in the world would my father’s killer take care of my mum and I?
No! This man was a liar.
“I can see the disbelief in your eyes” he laughed, letting go of my chin and rising to his feet.
“You don’t believe that your father was killed by Lucius? You trust him so much, don’t you? You trust that he is just a billionaire CEO with no dirty secrets?”
“Shut up!” I cried out with the last strength in me.
“You are a liar! Lucius was my father’s best friend! There’s… There’s no way he would have killed my father!”
“Best friend? That’s what you were told?” he laughed maniacally.
“What a terrible lie. I was right there when Lucius stabbed your father. I was there as he turned your father into a bloody mess. He killed your father”
Lies. Lies. Lies.
All of these had to be lies.
