MONALISA
THE NEXT DAY
I was in front of the mirror, dressed up in a dress that Lucius had picked out for me. It was a beautiful knee length yellow dress that had beautiful flower patterns.
The neck was v shaped and revealed every bit of my neck. It was a very beautiful dress and I liked it but I could also see the hickey on my neck and without a scarf around my neck, everyone would be able to see that I had a hickey on my neck.
“I think I am going to grab a scarf” I mumbled to myself and walked away from the mirror. I headed into the closer and grabbed a black scarf and then a yellow one.
I didn’t know which to choose. A yellow scarf would make my outfit be a bit too ‘yellowy’, right?
I got back in front of the mirror and wrapped the yellow scarf around my neck just to look at how it looked. I was still hesitant and so I pulled it off and wrapped the black one around my neck instead.
I was still trying to decide which was better when the door of my room opened and Lucius walked into the room.
“Cupc…” He stopped midway, his gaze settling on me.
“You are here” I turned my head to look at him.
“Which one looks better? The yellow one or the black one?” I asked, looking back into the mirror.
“None” he said the one word, stopping right behind me. I looked at us in the mirror and felt my knees go a little weak.
With him much more taller and bigger than I was, I felt small and yet there was this feeling of safety that came from it.
“None looks good?” I asked as his hands reached for the black scarf on my neck and he loosened it and pulled it off my neck.
“Would you help me pick a new one then?”
“No, Cupcake. This dress looks perfect on you this way. You don’t need to cover up. If anyone stares as you in a way you do not like, you just have to let me know and I will take care of it” his arms wrapped around my waist.
Take care of it? In what way?
“I…” I tried to speak but realized that I had nothing to say.
He leaned even more into me and that butterfly fluttering feeling inside of me started again.
“You look perfect this way, Cupcake” he assured me and when I looked into that mirror, I did look perfect.
In fact, I now thought the hickey looked just perfect on my neck. It wasn’t like it was strange for a college girl to come to school with a hickey anyways so that was nothing.
“I have a question” he kissed my neck, the exact spot where the hickey was.
In the mirror, I could see him looking at the hickey with a small smirk. He had done it intentionally. That was obvious from the smirk on his face.
“What question?” I asked, unable to resist the urge to lean back into him.
“Leon” he started and my brows immediately arched.
“What about him?”
“How did he treat you while you were dating?” He asked and I was going to get out of his grip but he tightened his grip and kissed my neck softly down to my shoulders, making me melt back into his arms.
“Don’t try lying to me, Cupcake. Just tell me the truth and we will be over this in no time.” He demanded and I just could not help but notice that since yesterday, he had been a bit more possessive.
“He was… He was quite nice.”
There was a low growl.
“Explain to me fully, Cupcake.”
“I guess he was nice but he was a bit flirty with other girls. That was the one thing I didn’t like…” I trailed off.
“There’s nothing more?”
“He might have…” I shook away that one bad memory. Apart from the fact that I and Leon were sexually incompatible, there had been one other bad memory that I had pushed to a forgotten part of me.
“He might have done what?”
A part of me told me not to say it but his words were so persuasive and those eyes were pushing me to say it.
“He might have hit me one time but he was drunk that night and he had been mad over her sexual life failure. He apologized and I have forgotten about…”
I stopped when I realised the look in his eyes. It was dangerous, dark and deadly.
“He hit you? And he apologized? And you didn’t call the cops on his ass? But you forgot about it?”
“He apologized a lot. For days and said it was because he was drunk, Francesca also apologized on his behalf so I just…”
“Francesca” Lucius groaned. He called that name like it was the filthiest thing ever.
“Thank you for telling me this” he pulled away from me.
“What are you going to do with this information?” I asked before he could walk away.
“Nothing really” he shrugged his shoulders.
“Are you sure?” I asked and he flashed me a smile. His signature small smile that made my heart relax.
“Yes, Cupcake.” He took a step closer and kissed my forehead.
“I will be gone a second and then I will be back to take you to school, alright?”
“Alright” I smiled back at him and watched him leave.
There was a feeling of unease around me, still. Something told me I shouldn’t have told Lucius about that one forgotten incident. A drunken incident that was most likely incited by Francesca since I knew now that she has hated me for so long.
But I shook it off. He was probably just curious about Leon. Nothing was going to happen. I assured myself. Or tried to, maybe?
Even if anything was going to happen, it wasn’t going to be….
“Fuck, nothing is happening” I shook my head and walked to my bed, grabbing my purse and my phone.
I sighed as I realized my messages had not been opened by Irene and her phone was still switched off. I was going to see her in school today, hopefully.
And if I don’t, perhaps I could get her house address at school and go see her at her home. And if I couldn’t get the address, I would go to Lucius’ hotel and ask for her mum.
Hopefully Irene would be fine and safe cause I was starting to get really really worried now.
With a fake smile, I dropped my phone into my purse and walked out of the room with no scarf around my neck and nothing covering the hickey I had on my neck.
