Lonny lowered her head. Feeling the impolite gaze from all around, she slowly clenched her fists that were in her lap.
Now that Tiana had been fired and Rorey’s contract had been terminated, she had no backup in TEG News at all. She also had no reason to stay there any longer.
Initially, she had wanted to resign on her own, but when she saw the new Managing Director, she did not want to leave anymore.
Honestly, the reason why she was willing to help Rorey was that she had hoped that she could introduce her to a good partner so that she could step into a rich and powerful family.
However, Rorey went back on her words time and again. Furthermore, those whom she introduced to her were not very good-looking.
Now that there was such an outstanding man who was in close proximity to her, how could she possibly miss it?
While Lonny was planning all this in her mind, Morphy had already finished talking and it was now Corey’s turn.
Corey first gave everyone a cheerful smile. His bright smile almost blinded everyone’s eyes.
“Rosiley, is your brother-in-law always so coquettish?”
Yayoi whispered in Rosiley’s ear.
Rosiley looked at the man who was smiling vibrantly and the corners of her mouth twitched slightly. She said helplessly, “He has always been so coquettish.”
He had a completely different personality to that of Sachin. One was introverted and indifferent while the other was outspoken and full of sunshine. Their complementing characters caused Rosiley to uncontrollably be in awe of how Sachin’s mother was so good at giving birth.
“Hello, everyone. I’m Corey, the new Managing Director.”
As soon as he finished his words, a burst of warm applause broke out from the audience.
Corey nodded his head in satisfaction. “It looks like everyone welcomes me a lot.”
If this was not a company’s general meeting but a Zev meeting for a celebrity instead, there might have been screaming and cheering.
Immediately after, Corey said a bunch of formalities. Rosiley could not help but yawn. She felt so bored that she was about to fall asleep.
All of a sudden, she heard her name.
“Rosiley.”
She looked around blankly and found that everyone was turning around to look at her.
“Your brother-in-law is calling you,” Yayoi said in a low voice.
Rosiley glanced at her and then looked up at Corey, who was looking at her with smiling eyes.
She resisted the urge to roll her eyes and slowly stood up. She asked in a neither servile nor overbearing tone, “Managing Director, why did you call me?”
“No reason.” The smile on Corey’s lips deepened. “I just wanted to see how the woman of the hour looks like.”
Rosiley laughed dryly. Was this guy really going to make her a thorn in the side of everyone infatuated with him?
She had already felt the envious gazes from his Zevs.
He was creating an enemy out of her! He was setting her up!
As if not understanding the impact of his actions, Corey minded his own business and continued saying, “I didn’t expect us to have such a beautiful member of staff. She’s not inferior to a celebrity at all.”
Then, he changed the subject. “Rosiley, are you interested in joining the entertainment industry? I promise that I can make you famous.”
“I! Am! Not! Interested!” Rosiley stressed each word as she replied to him.
Corey’s heart skipped a beat. Had he gone overboard?
He noticed that there was something wrong with his sister-in-law’s gaze, so he hurriedly ended the little side-track.
“Alright then. Please take a seat.”
Standing over to one side, Morphy held back his laughter and thought to himself as he rejoiced in Corey’s misfortune, “Wait and see how Big Brother will take care of you for teasing your sister-in-law like that.”
