I smiled at him. Good. I can’t really imagine you hurting anyone. I said. But blondie over there doesn’t look too friendly. I said afterwards.
He just gave me a death glare. Don’t make me tie another layer of knots over you. He threatened, looking serious.
Well then I guess I’d just have to sing again… I trailed off with an innocent smile.
I snickered as their eyes grew wide in fear and they took a step back.
Before they could say anything, the door banged open and in walked the stout chipmunk. He reminded me of a plum…
Cody and brunette boy suddenly stepped on either side of me, looking emotionless and guarded once again.
Skylar, Skylar, Skylar. Alvin dragged my name out, walking towards me in slow steps. Do I have a lot to tell you. He grinned evilly at me.
Sweet ! I was kind of hoping for a story. I said enthusiastically with a smile. I noticed Nathan step into the room over Alvin’s shoulder and couldn’t help but relax just a little.
His eyes searched for mine and once they found them, he relaxed too. But his gaze hardened as he took in the knots covering me.
Glad to hear your interest, especially since this involves your family and why you’re here. He grinned at me like Lucifer from Cinderella.
Awesome. I’ve been waiting for this talk. I said back with a huge smile. I wasn’t sure if I was ticking him off with my perkiness or just looking plain stupid.
Alright, shall we begin ? He asked in a calm tone. If he was agitated with me, then he was doing a good job of not showing it.
I don’t know about you guys, but I’m all set for story time. I said, looking up at Cody and brunette boy.
They both spared me a quick glance, brunette boy looked surprised at my attitude and Cody just looked amused.
Good. So let’s start with your real father. Alvin started off, his tone going into story mode.
I held my breath, bracing myself for whatever he’d say next. My real dad was a topic I had always avoided and had just recently opened up about to Nathan.
Or should I say, my brother. Alvin added, looking at me evilly.
My heart stopped, my jaw dropped, the world seemed to freeze and I couldn’t do anything but stare. After a while of it sinking in, I found my tongue again.
No. No no no. I said, shaking my head furiously, not believing him.
Oh but yes. It’s true Sky. So I suggest you stay calling me Uncle- I didn’t let him finish as I let out a cry of agony.
So- so this means I’m related to- I’m related to a chipmunk ! I cried out in shock. This couldn’t be. I couldn’t imagine being related to this chipmunk.
Chipmunk ? Alvin asked confusedly.
Oops… I had slipped ! I quickly tried to plot up a distraction.
Oh the shame ! I cried out dramatically. The agony ! I added, looking up at the ceiling.
Alvin gave me an annoyed look, before turning around to face Nathan. Rag her. He ordered.
I snapped my head back down to see Nathan coming towards me with a rag in his hand. As he passed Alvin, I could see he was shocked by the revelation as well. Or maybe just my reaction to it.
Once he was behind me, a black cloth appeared in front of me and before I could protest, Nathan had already started tying it.
Once the rag was firmly in place, Nathan walked past me and back to Alvin’s side, shooting me a wink that I almost missed.
I shot him a look back.
I knew the sexy stripper liked having that rag around my mouth…
Now that I can speak again without any interruptions. He said sternly, looking at me with a deadly squint. Let me tell you what your father really was. He said.
I kept my eyes void of any emotion he was trying to pull out of me.
Skylar my dear niece. He started off with a sickening smile.
I growled at him.
I’m not over exaggerating when I say this, but… He trailed off. I’m in one of the country’s most dangerous and largest mafias. And so was your father. I knew you weren’t always exactly… close with your father which is why you never met your grandfather. You see Skylar, a girl like you should be happy to be related to a family like ours. He said with a grin. You know why ? He asked me, leaning in closer.
I stared at him blankly.
Because your grandfather is the leader of this mafia. He said slowly, grinning at me like a madman.
So he was saying that some old guy is a leader of some mafia ? The old guy being my own grandfather ?
You see, your father was a great man in the mafia, he was going to be the next leader. Your grandfather was going to hand him the throne. Everything was going well but then your step father had to come in and ruin everything ! He yelled out angrily. He tore your dad’s life from him ! He took his family. His own wife. He spoke through clenched teeth.
I stared at him in confusion. My real dad had nothing to lose. Why would he even care about the family he never loved and only abused ?
The bastard Randy made your dad sink into depression. He was so far gone that he didn’t even notice that night when our rival gang was following him. He had his back turned when they shot him up like cowards. Alvin spoke angrily, looking upset all of a sudden.
I was truly shocked by now. My real father who I had tried so hard to erase from my memories was… dead. The last thing I had known about him was that he had ran off…
Anyways, once your dad left us, the gang fell to pieces. Your grandfather had a heart attack once he found out the news, and with no leader to run the gang, chaos erupted. He shook his head. So I automatically became the new leader. I didn’t want this because I knew I wasn’t fit for it, but I knew I had to take control. So here I am, getting revenge on that bastard Randy for ruining my life, my family and my gang. He finished with a sigh. And I can’t wait to do the same to him. He shot me an uncomfortable grin.
I stared at the man in shock, never expecting this. I was basically here to help my chipmunk-mafia-leader uncle get revenge on my step-father who I wanted nothing to do with.
But things weren’t making sense. I knew for a fact that my step-father only cared about himself and possibly my mother. He never spared a second glance at my brother nor me. Neither my mother nor my step-father really cared about what would happen to us. I mean, it had been almost a year since I last saw them.
I was honestly aggravated at this point. My brother and I were getting dragged into this whole mess when being tied to that man was the last thing we wanted.
But I guess that didn’t matter to Alvin. His drive for revenge was too strong to care. All he cared about was total destruction and obliteration.
I snapped my eyes to the crazed small man and gave nothing away. Finding out why I was here still didn’t solve anything. All it did was grow my frustration towards him. But just like Nathan, just like Cody and brunette boy, I was left helpless. But this was why it was all about to change. So, I kept quiet, not like I had any choice due to the lovely rag from Nathan around my mouth, and decided that sticking to the plan was truly the only way out. Save Hana, put Alvin behind bars, and just put this whole thing behind me.
