The morning was approaching, and warm sunlight began to illuminate the surroundings. The sound of a rooster crowing in the morning tells the residents that a new day has arrived. Dew can be seen on the grass and leaves around the orphanage, adding to the freshness there.
The orphanage was located in a remote place. The conditions were still beautiful, with big trees, so it was almost like living in a forest, even though it was not in reality. The situation in the orphanage looked very quiet as if there was no activity because most residents were still fast asleep.
A young girl with long, wavy chestnut brown hair, like waves in the ocean, with a pair of hazel eyes, was still asleep. Not long after, those two beautiful eyes opened by themselves. She tried to get up, but her body was not strong enough. Her small pink lips yawned wide. Drowsiness still felt inside me.
The candle that was used last night to light the room has died because it has melted by itself. Now, Alexa was sitting on the bed. Her eyes blinked several times, and then both hands rubbed the area for a few moments.
I feel different today. My body feels light, and the headache that is usually dizzy after waking up has disappeared. Get up early, too. There were no scary dreams. In fact, as far as I remember, a Goddess appeared. She wore a crown, had three bodies, and had a unified face. There was no scary aura at all. The dream seemed natural, thought the intelligent girl.
“Last night, I had a wonderful dream. A Moon Goddess has come and blessed. If one day I can find out the name of the Goddess, I will make a statue to worship her as a sign of gratitude,” she muttered softly.
I would better take a shower; otherwise, the other children will definitely come in first and stay there for a long time, and Madame Aufrodine will anger me. It was still early; the sun was not too high yet; I would better hurry, though, Alexa.
Alexa started to get out of bed and then tidied it up. After that, the teenage girl with a sharp nose walked towards a dull wooden cupboard, peeling on all sides, then took out clothes and a cloth to dry her body, which would be used for bathing.
That slim girl took everything she needed, walked out of the room, and did not forget to close the door. The atmosphere in the corridor was tranquil because none of the other children had woken up, and only Alexa was awake. Beautiful memories with Aileen and Adaline came back to the girl’s mind, so she became sad but had to hold back her tears so that other people would not hear her sobbing.
“How are Aileen and Adaline? What are they doing? Usually, when I’ve finished showering, Aiden and Samuel will appear together. It’s been a day since we’ve been apart; I already miss them.” Alexa softly muttered, remembering her memories before the two female twins left the orphanage.
The daughter of the couple, Tristian Varden Writh and Lavena Isolda Keira continued walking until she arrived at her destination. The atmosphere there was tranquil, so this situation relieved Alexa. The intelligent girl immediately got in there and started showering without wasting time.
Twenty minutes later, the bathroom door was opened from the inside, and the messenger of Goddess Magia came out. The virgin’s body is clean and fresh, but not her mind. Alexa came out of the bathroom and did not find anyone else there. The Chosen One stopped walking and looked around, but the view she saw was still the same.
“Where are Sam and Aiden? Usually, they appear after I finish showering. Are they up late?” Alexa became curious, but she could not do anything yet because it was impossible for the girl to go to the boys’ dormitory and check on the condition of her male friends.
The hazel-eyed girl walked out of the area. The cold air could be felt on the skin but was completely ignored. From afar, two adult women could be seen looking at Alexa. However, they acted as if they were not looking at her.
As time passed, the distance between the two orphanage administrators and the Chosen One got closer. Alexa, who initially didn’t realize the two women’s existence, greeted them without hesitation, “Good morning, Madame Aufrodine and Madame Loiston.”
“Yes, good morning,” they both said in unison.
The twelve-year-old girl was stunned for a moment, then walked away. She was surprised because she had never received such treatment.
Have Madame Aufrodine and Madame Loiston changed? They will usually snap or give a cold stare if they accidentally meet like that. This is a good sign. Hopefully, all the bad things that happened will disappear this morning. Alexa could only hope in her heart, even though there was no guarantee that her hope would come true.
Meanwhile, the two women who worked as caretakers at the orphanage were surprised because they were able to return greetings from a young girl they did not like. They both loved all the children there. However, because of an ancient prophecy regarding the arrival of a famous Dark Witch in the country of Zlatav, whose physical characteristics were within Alexa, most of the people in the orphanage ostracized the poor child.
“Why do you even answer Alexa’s greetings, Apple?” scolded another woman standing next to her. A blue-eyed woman looked wary because she did not expect that her colleague would be able to greet the Chosen One like that.
A woman who was asked could only shake her head several times. She did not understand why she could do that. What she did was something out of the ordinary that could not be prevented at all. A woman called Apple had the full name Ioxinete Loiston.
“I do not know either, Lenny. When I saw Alexa, for some reason, compassion and affection arose. If only the girl were not the child chosen by the Goddess Magia, perhaps her biological parents would not have abandoned her away here.” The thirty-nine-year-old woman was actually concerned about the fate of the granddaughter of Sir Elmer Louis Writh and Madame Phoenix Lily Katira.
“She is still a child, even though she has grown into a teenager. Are we not being too harsh? I still remember when she appeared at the door when she was a baby; she had such great charm that we could not help but hold her and give her attention. Did you remember that moment?”
Laveyny Aufrodine was silent as if at a loss for words. They did not talk to each other and were busy with their own thoughts. Both of them could not deny that they often saw the girl being verbally abused. However, they chose to just ignore it, except when Odessa physically attacked her, so the girl and her four friends had to go to detention and were punished there for one month.
A cold wind blew, adding to the morning’s frigid atmosphere, making it even more difficult for the principal and her deputy to erase the guilt of their actions towards poor Alexa.
