Chapter 59. Goddess Magia, Please Let Me Die

Book:Alexa The Dark Witch Published:2024-8-20

In a luxurious, old-fashioned residence,
A thirty-two-year-old woman stared out of the window, feeling empty. A gentle breeze hit her beautiful face. It was so quiet, and there was only her. In the midst of the silence, the woman remembered someone, which made her sad and disappointed at the same time. “I miss my princess. I have not seen Alexa in a long time, and it is all because of my stupid husband,” she said, annoyed.
Just as she finished saying that sentence, there was a knock on the door, but the blonde woman chose to ignore what she heard and remained standing where she was. The voice kept on coming as if never giving up. However, the occupant of the room willfully ignored it. After ten knocks, the person who knocked frowned, feeling something was wrong.
“Why won’t Mom open the door? Didn’t she go somewhere? But the maids said Mom had not left the room since morning. Did she sleep?” muttered a twelve-year-old boy. “I will try again.”
The thin young guy knocked on the door again, saying, “Mom? Are you there?”
When she heard the call, the one-hundred-and-sixty-five-centimetre-tall woman was disturbed but still reluctant to speak up to the knocker. “That son of a bitch does not know himself. How dare he refer to me as ‘Mom’, even though I am not his mother.”
That teenage boy kept trying to knock on the door while calling out to the target, hoping that the woman in the room would come out, but to no avail, so he stopped. “I am very worried about her condition. Should I enter her room without permission? If I do that, Mom will be very angry, and I will be beaten up like last time.”
“Son, what are you doing?” The question made the young man look back. He could see a tall figure walking towards him within about ten meters. He smiled, knowing very well who the man was.
“Dad! I have been knocking, but Mom has not come out, and there is no sound at all. Is she sick?” The green-eyed man answered earnestly. Even his face looked sad.
When he heard this report, the head of the Writh family was stunned and not surprised by his beloved spouse’s attitude.
I could not possibly tell Larry that Lavena hates him so much. After all, he did not do anything wrong. Larry is our son, even though he is not our biological son, Tristian thought as he continued walking toward the target.
“Maybe Mom is sleeping, Son. Do not worry.” The thirty-seven-year-old man tried to calm the other person down. He had reached the front of the room and was standing next to the young man.
“I hope so, Dad. I do not want Mom to get sick.” The one-hundred-and-seventy-centimetre-tall young man seemed to dote on his mother, so that fact made the residence owner feel heartbroken. He patted his son’s shoulder three times as if to say that everything was fine.
“I will check on her. You wait here, Son.” Tristian deliberately said this because he did not want his conversation with his wife to be overheard by the young man.
“Okay, Dad.” Larry nodded and tried to obey his father’s advice, which made the red-haired man smile.
“Good boy.” After finishing that short sentence, the man with the bushy beard and sideburns knocked on the door. However, there was no answer from inside the room, so Tristian just tried to be patient, and tried not to say anything in front of Larry, especially about the status of their child.
“Wifey? Are you awake? I will go into the room.” Tristian deliberately said this so that his beloved woman would know he was going into the room. Lavena heard her husband’s voice, but she remained silent. The passion for life seemed to have disappeared, so she did not want to talk to anyone else.
Larry and Tristian did not hear any sounds from inside the room, so the situation was very confusing for both of them. The burly man tried to open the door and found it unlocked. Without hesitation, he rushed into the room, wondering inwardly about Lavena’s strange silence.
Was my wife upset with me again because we could not secretly visit Alexa? Circumstances were such that if we went there and met the envoys from the palace, they would report it to the emperor. If that were the case, then me, Lavena, and my parents would be asked to appear before the emperor, and that would be a very serious issue, thought Tristian, who had entered the room.
At the open window, the emerald-eyed man saw a slender woman there. There was no sound from the opposite sex, which made Tristian even more curious. He kept walking towards his lovely wife and tried not to make the slightest sound. Meanwhile, Lavena seemed to have figured out that there was someone else in the room, so she took the initiative to start a conversation. “Why did you come in here, Hubby?”
Tristian was startled, so he stopped walking. “I thought you were sleeping because, from the moment Larry knocked on the door, you did not answer him at all, Wifey.”
A woman who had never liked her adopted son just smiled sarcastically, though the other person could not see that. “What is he looking for me for? I am okay here and do not need him. He is not my son.”
Lavena said all that in a flat tone, so Tristian shook his head. He did not want to fight with his spouse, especially on the same topic, which was about their adopted son. “Wifey, why do you always say that? Having Larry does not mean forgetting Alexa.”
The sharp-nosed woman ignored her husband’s advice. Alexa Jocelyn Heart’s biological mother was deliberately silent for a long time because she was reluctant to talk to the interlocutor. The atmosphere between them became quiet again because the conversation that had occurred was over. Tristian did not understand the opposite sex’s heart, so the man only watched Lavena’s every move.
“I will never forgive myself for agreeing to your plan, Hubby,” Lavena said softly, and a deep sense of guilt and longing for her biological daughter tormented her. Tristian could only listen to his lady’s complaints without intending to interrupt.
“I hope you forgive me someday, Alexa. When the ancient prophecy is finally fulfilled, I am not sure if I will still be alive or not, but I will always love you, my precious.”
Lavena’s last words scared Tristian so much that he could not bear to reprimand her. “Enough, Wifey! You can’t say that, because your words could come true!” the Writh patriarch scolded.
“I am useless as a mother because I can’t prevent you from taking our child away from here. But, if I die, I will guide and accompany her. May Goddess Magia accept my soul and my wishes.” Lavena seemed to be giving a testament that although the green-eyed woman was physically healthy, she was not mentally healthy.
“Wifey. Stop it. You do not know how much I miss Alexa, too, but things are bad. I don’t know when this will end either.” Tristian, who was the second child of Sir Elmer Louis Writh and Madame Phoenix Lily Katira, remained patient with Lavena’s ramblings, even though he sometimes got tired of repeating the same words.
“What is the proof that you miss our daughter too, Hubby? I never see you mention Alexa’s name unless I initiate it first,” Lavena asked sharply.
That man paused, not knowing what to say to the other person. To be honest, since Larry came along, I have gotten over the sadness of parting with Alexa. I have been spending time with him because Lavena hated him so much. If I had told Wifey the truth about how I felt about him, she would have been furious. This situation is a difficult choice for me, Tristian thought.
“You do not have to say anything, Hubby. I already know that you love Larry more than Alexa. I will make you regret it.” Once again Lavena had managed to confuse Tristian. He did not understand what the last sentence meant, but the man was tired of arguing and chose to keep quiet to prevent a fight between them.
A woman who passed down her beauty to her biological daughter could only stare at the sky, but in a part that was protected from the sun. Tears rolled down both cheeks slowly, unable to bear the longing for. “O Goddess Magia. I beg your mercy upon me. Please let me meet and take care of Alexa, for I cannot bear to be here. Please take my life as soon as possible so that I can be with my daughter at all times.”
“Wifey!” Tristian did not expect Lavena to be so desperate to make such a request, so he accidentally snapped at the opposite sex.
“My husband does not need me anymore, so I do not mind dying young. He has never prayed for our daughter like me, so there is no important for me to longer anything to keep in this marriage. Please grant my wish. If you fulfil my prayer, I promise to be your loyal servant.” Lavena ignored Tristian’s words because her will to live was gone.
Meanwhile, outside the room, a young boy in his late teens stood at the door. The young man could not hear what the parents had been talking about, but he became very worried as he heard his father’s unprecedented yelling.
“Are Mom and Dad fighting in the room? I have never heard either of them yelling. I am getting worried. Should I enter the room? But, Dad already told me to wait here. Hopefully, nothing will happen there,” Larry murmured, worried.
