Shortly afterward, on the fourth floor of the girls’ dormitory,
It was already very quiet. The only light came from the torches that had been set to stick to the walls. Not a single child’s voice could be heard outside, though there was some light from their respective rooms. The chestnut brown-haired woman stepped slowly as if afraid to make even the slightest noise, which could disturb the peace of each room’s occupants.
In the midst of the silence, the first daughter of the couple, Tristian Varden Writh and Lavena Isolda Keira, recalled the attitudes of the four new friends, who all seemed happy to be friends with her.
I am so glad that Aileen, Sam, Aiden, and Adaline are showing so much goodwill. Why didn’t I just get to know them from the beginning? Maybe it is fate; no matter how much you want to force it, it can’t happen if it is not time yet, thought Alexa, who continued to walk with a carefree heart.
When they arrived at their destination, the young girl started to open the door, and the room inside was dark. Alexa seemed to let the light from outside, which came from the torch fire, into the room, although it could not be one hundred percent. “I should get a candle because going to bed without changing first is not good.”
A shaft of light entered the girl’s room, which made Alexa fumble around the table, looking for the candle she used to get from Madame Loiston. “Where is the candle? If I am not mistaken, I put one on the table,” Alexa muttered quietly.
While Alexa was busy looking for candles, a woman who had met the virgin lady in a dream suddenly appeared. However, the immortal goddess only observed what her messenger was doing without wanting to say anything to her. After two minutes of holding the table from all sides, the young lady finally managed to get the object she had been looking for.
“Finally, I got it!” said Alexa, happy.
Alexa turned around and walked out of the room. However, she was not alone, as a female figure was following her from behind. The young lady, who had height of one hundred and seventy centimeters tall, stopped near a torch located not far from her room. She brought the candle closer to the torch, more precisely to the flame that was still burning. After the candle was lit, she returned to her room and did not forget to close the door that was still wide open.
The wallflower girl put the lit candle into a small place designated for candles only. Her room became a little brighter because the light from the candle had illuminated the place, although it was not as bright as the sun. As she was about to open the cupboard, the temperature in the room slowly but surely cooled down, causing Alexa to frown.
“Hm? Why is it so cold in here? I did not even open the window. Maybe because it is nighttime, so the temperature has changed.” Alexa tried not to think about what she was feeling, even though the source of the cold was not the change from day to night but the presence of the Queen of Witches.
A few minutes later, Alexa had finished changing and she quickly climbed onto the bed and looked up at the ceiling. The girl had not yet noticed the other figure present there, and for the first time, the Chosen One smiled to herself as if she had experienced an event that made her happy.
“For the first time in my life, I finally have a lot of friends. I admit that today was not so bad. Odessa suddenly hit me, so I fell down, and everyone just kept quiet. Thanks to the universe’s help, help came. They got punished. Even Madame Aufrodine threatened to punish anyone who hurt me.” Alexa was talking to herself, but what the young girl was doing was more like praying.
“Thank you to whichever god or goddess has given me protection and defense. I’m tired of being insulted constantly. Odessa and her friends are in the detention room for one month starting today. Hopefully, they will come to their senses and not repeat the bad deeds again.”
“Now I wanna sleep. Please protect and accompany me in dreamland so that nothing evil interferes. If allowed, I want to see Mom and Dad, even if it is just for a moment.” Alexa ended the prayer, and the girl did not mention any gods or goddesses, whether it was intentional or not.
Sir Elmer Louis Writh and Madame Phoenix Lily Katira’s granddaughter began to drift off to sleep. She looked exhausted, but there was happiness in her heart. That immortal goddess had been listening to the prayers and watching the target’s actions and had yet to comment. However, Goddess Magia looked lovingly at Alexa. “You should not be with your friends for too long unless it is with the young man who is indeed my people, Aiden. The mortals will betray you, just as Emperor Droitzon did to Lord Utzkah.”

In dreamland
A girl with chestnut brown hair appeared to be in a lonely forest. No other people were in sight, but that did not matter to her. Alexa looked around and the young woman only saw a lot of trees and a few birds flying around. “Where am I? Have I ever visited this place? This is only in my dream, so why should I be afraid? Everything must be fine.”
The one-hundred-and-seventy-centimeter-tall young lady kept walking, not thinking there was anything bad ahead. The longer Alexa walked, the more she noticed the sound of running water, which made the virgin frown. “Is there a river around here? I would like to see it.”
Alexa walked back, It turned out to be true what the girl thought, that it was a river. Her face turned bright, eager to get closer to her destination. When she was almost in the area, about twenty meters away, the intention to reach the river had to be aborted because she instead saw three people having a conversation. Still, the Chosen One did not recognize any of them at all.
“I heard that the child written in the ancient prophecy was born in Zlatav long ago, but I do not know where it is.”
Alexa’s instincts kicked in, and without any prompting, the sharp-nosed girl hid in a tall tree out of sight of the three strangers. As soon as possible, she remembered her conversation with Aiden when they were still in the dining room.
Could what Aiden said about the Chosen One be true? Why would anyone mention that? Gosh! This situation is so horrible. I can’t imagine having to live in a state of fear every day, let alone if I get caught, they will kill me! Alexa was already imagining the worst-case scenario if, one day, the palace discovered her existence.
“I do not know if the rumors are true or just lies. Madame Lizhard has already been questioned, and she said she never received a guest who was pregnant with the fetus of the messenger of Goddess Magia. If she found out, then she would have informed the palace as soon as possible.” Another male voice was heard, which made the girl’s heart beat faster.
“Have the families of the nobles all been checked? Perhaps the child in the ancient prophecy came from the nobility?” The first man asked his friend, while the second just observed their conversation. Unbeknownst to them, a girl was eavesdropping on their conversation and had not moved from her hiding place.
“In fact, they are the ones who are checked first by the palace because the population records of noble families are more accurate, and most of them directly update the genealogy of family members, whether newborn or deceased, in their respective family trees.” The third man answered his friend’s question and looked at the two men with him.
“They were clean because no record was found of a baby being aborted or dying. Most of the nobles had a son, and some even had twins. There were also families with daughters, but there were no bad records from Madame Lizhard. All were good.” The same man ended his story. He answered casually, having gotten the information from a reliable source beforehand.
For some reason Alexa even remembered the dream that happened the previous day. Still, that young lady had forgotten most of the marital conversation in the dream, even though it was the most important part, so she was immediately annoyed.
“What do you think? How do we find out about the child mentioned by Lord Utzkah? It is impossible for us to go to remote villages just to find that child.” The second man seemed reluctant to go far. However, he had no other choice, as it was part of his duty.
“There is no other way because we have to obey our Emperor’s orders. We just finished checking two villages and have to go to the third. The sooner we find the kid, the sooner we return to the city. Remember, do not kill that kid before he is dragged to the palace. The Emperor wanted to see her face before asking the executioner to kill the Chosen One.”
“What? Do they want to kill me? How dare they!” said Alexa, quietly. The girl’s hands were clenched into fists, holding back her anger. Alexa’s eyes were glazed over, but she was trying to stay strong and could not help but stand there so that the three evil men would not notice her presence.
