Chapter 46. Are You Okay?

Book:Alexa The Dark Witch Published:2024-8-20

In the afternoon, approximately 5:20 PM,
In a medical room in the Ztatzav Orphanage, a girl with short, black hair was sitting near a bed that had been filled with a patient. It was very quiet, due to the absence of conversation. Aileen began to yawn due to the drowsiness that came unbidden. When she was done doing so, the twin sister turned her attention to the door, but there was no sign of anyone else present.
“Why are Samuel, Aiden, and Adaline taking so long in class? What was going on?” grumbled the virgin, annoyed. “Should I just catch up with them? I am curious.”
The twelve-year-old girl yawned again, and the drowsiness that came with it made her forget her original intention of leaving the medical room. Slowly but surely, the atmosphere in the room became cold, so Aileen was immediately alerted, as the change in temperature was far different from the previous one. Her goosebumps stood up as if to inform her that another figure was present that she could not see.
“What happened in this room? Why is the temperature so cold? Is it going to rain soon?” muttered Aileen, who could not help but get up from where she was sitting. The young lady walked amidst the silence, and the feeling of uneasiness was unavoidable. However, the smart girl tried to dismiss all the anxiety, wanting to find a logical explanation for the strange events she was experiencing.
When Aileen reached the door, she could not open it for some reason, as if something was holding it back, and the situation left the girl wondering. “What was wrong with this door? Everything was fine when I entered the medical room, but why is this problem now? There is no way this door could have suddenly become broken if there was no cause. Ugh! It is so hard for me to open it.”
Without Aileen realizing it, a woman with three bodies, a face, and three pairs of hands was floating in the air. She was indeed looking at what Aileen was doing, but that form still let the girl do what she wanted. The goddess’ gaze was drawn to the first daughter of the couple, Tristian Varden Writh and Lavena Isolda Keira, who was still lying on the bed.
Alexa’s face was very pale, and the bruises were no longer visible in the face area and at the corners of the lips, making the stranger smile. She quickly floated over to her messenger and was now on her target’s stomach, but not too close so as not to hurt her. Goddess Magia looked down and kept an eye on the young woman’s expression. “I have already taught your five bullies a lesson. They all fainted and were very stressed, having seen the apparition of a horrible figure and of course, it was me who did it.”
“I will not allow anyone to do harm to you, let alone to the point of physical violence. I will haunt all the detention rooms filled with Odessa, Frazto, Drutz, Shul, and Drena so that they are traumatized to commit the same abuse. If any of those five children dare to inflict such harm, then I will eliminate them from the Earth. I do not care about Asiles.” Goddess Magia said very quietly. However, those words were heard by Aileen, who immediately got goosebumps because the virgin felt that she had heard an unfamiliar voice and it was coming from the same place as her.
Am I dreaming? No, I am not dreaming. It is still in the afternoon. Why am I hearing someone saying something? Could it be Madame Ethnia? No, that voice did not belong to her. Do I have to look back to find out who it was? Why am I getting scared? Should I do that? Thought Aileen, who suddenly stopped opening the door as fear dominated her.
“I will keep an eye on this orphanage. If your time has come, I will make you leave this place and go to the community to which you should belong.” Goddess Magia said in the same tone of voice, which made the young woman who had been at the door lose her nerve, not daring to look at Alexa at all. Aileen’s body seemed to have been deliberately made rigid, like a statue, and she could only stand there while listening to all the words of a stranger she had never known at all.
Ouch… how is this? Who exactly was that voice talking to? There was no way he was chatting with Madame Ethnia since she was in the Healer’s room. Could it be that she was targeting Alexa instead? What did she do wrong? My friend was still unconscious. Damn! I can’t move my body! If I stay like this, what about Alexa’s safety? I am here to keep her company and protect her from people who might have bad intentions towards her. A young girl with a mole on her nose continued to think about saving her new friend, despite the granddaughter of Sir Elmer Louis Writh and Madame Phoenix Lily Katira being fine.
“Whoever dares to disturb you will be punished accordingly. I have not killed a mortal like I used to, and I will do it again since today.” After saying the last sentence, the woman simply disappeared from the medical room, and the temperature there returned to warmth as if nothing had ever happened. Aileen tried to move her body. When her left hand could be moved, as soon as possible, that girl turned around and ran towards Alexa’s bed, which looked safe.
When she arrived at Alexa’s side, Adaline’s Petmurzkha twin sister was emotionally overwhelmed. She burst into tears, as her friend was in good condition and did not appear to have been harmed by anyone else. The sound of sobbing gradually disturbed the Chosen One’s peace, so her left finger slowly moved, although Aileen had not yet noticed the event. Moments later, Alexa’s eyes opened. She could faintly make out the sound of heart-wrenching crying, but she didn’t know who it was yet.
When Alexa’s vision began to clear, the chestnut brown-haired woman began to recognize the figure that was shedding deep sorrow. She was puzzled, having never witnessed the person crying, as their friendship was still new. “Why are you crying, Aileen? Are you okay?” asked the young lady, who was still of noble descent.
The name’s owner suddenly raised her face because she heard someone say her name. Aileen could not contain her excitement, and without further ado, she hugged Alexa, who was still confused. “What happened? Did you get bad news?” That teenage girl who had just woken up asked again because she felt something was wrong with her friend’s attitude, who was still silent but still crying.
Did anyone have time to hear the bad news for Aileen? Or did she get angry at me for caring for her, even though I did not ask for it? If that was the case, she should not be here because I did not want to bother her at all, Alexa thought, feeling guilty.
After crying, Aileen released the hug and then looked at Alexa with a puffy look. The hazel-eyed woman did not dare to say anything yet, even though she was very curious inside. However, she deliberately waited for an explanation from the interlocutor, who was still regulating her sad emotions.
“I… I thought that strange woman was going to kill you. I… I was so scared.” Aileen replied stammeringly, which made Alexa frown, not understanding what the girl had meant.
“What did you mean? Who was she? I am fine, and no one is trying to hurt me.” Alexa said softly as she forced herself to smile. The wallflower girl felt sorry for her friend, who was still grieving, even though nothing strange had happened to her. Aileen wiped away the remaining tears that still stuck to both cheeks and did not forget the eye area.
“When you were unconscious, I found out something strange. No, I heard a weird voice. I did not hear clearly what it was said, but its voice was so quiet and so horrible. At that moment, something mysterious happened to me. When I wanted to check on you, suddenly, I could not move my body. I had never experienced such a crazy event before. I just did not want her to hurt you.” Aileen burst into tears again after she finished answering Alexa’s question.
The one-hundred-and-seventy-centimeter-tall girl could understand the other person’s feelings. She did not consider what her friend said to be a lie because Aileen looked sincere and serious.
“I see. When I was sleeping, I did not see or hear anything there. I have never met a ghost, but it could be that what you heard was the voice of a ghost. Thank you for looking out for me, Aileen.”
Alexa tried to hold Aileen’s hand as if to offer support. While doing so, she was no longer in pain, and the virgin marveled at Madame Ethnia’s ability to treat her relatively quickly. Adaline’s twin sister noticed that the patient was holding her right hand and stopped crying. “You are welcome. You do not think I am lying, do you?”
Alexa shook her head, which made Aileen instantly relieved. “No, I did not think like that. It must have been really hard for you, and not everyone is able to go through it. You are great because you are strong and brave enough through it all alone.”
