What A Surprise Part Two

Book:Alexa The Dark Witch Published:2024-8-20

Inside a room,
“No, I did not hear something. What happened to you?” asked Aufrodine, surprised.
The black-haired woman frowned, looking around the room. However, she saw nothing suspicious there, so the girl began to assume that her colleague was starting to have hallucinations.
“I swear, I heard someone’s voice earlier. It was more like a whisper,” answered Loiston, a little frightened.
The twenty-seven-year-old girl dared not look ahead because the eerie feeling was so strong, even though she could not see directly. Meanwhile, a figure of the immortal goddess was still in the same area and had not moved at all.
“I did not hear or see anything strange here. After all, this is my workroom, and during the time I occupied it, there had never been a single strange incident. All is normal. Perhaps it was only your imagination.”
A young lady, who had a height of one hundred and seventy-two centimetres, tried to calm the person she was talking to. However, in her heart, she still harboured an oddity because she had not experienced what her co-workers and best friend were facing. Meanwhile, Loiston still did not dare to answer, as if she was trying to calm herself, who was in shock from the mystical experience.
“You have lived here for seven years. We both know if no one has ever experienced a strange event, especially since the incident was within the scope of an orphanage. There are no ghosts nor spirit. Do not be silly and so stop scaring yourself.”
The intonation of the voice used by Laveyny Aufrodine sounded irritated because she found nothing unusual there. Now, the woman with thin eyebrows could only watch what her colleague was doing. She had not provided additional comments at this time because she was waiting for a reaction from the other person.
A red-haired woman also tried to brace herself, although the terrible air still felt. She kept the baby in her arms, and then her left hand began to be tucked into the basket as if she was looking for something. That girl’s expression changed after her left hand pulled something from there, which was witnessed by Laveyny Aufrodine.
“Look! I find a letter here. I wonder what they wrote about it. It might be important for us.”
A sharp-nosed girl waved a light brown envelope, which, as soon as possible, attracted the attention of the woman, who was frightened by the children in the orphanage. The atmosphere at the location still felt cold, as if there was a strange creature, but Loiston deliberately did not say what she felt so as not to cause protests from her work partners.
“Yeah, it is interesting. Usually people who throw children here rarely leave letters. In fact, some only left a piece of paper with their kids’ names on it. If they still care, why do they have the heart to abandon their own and flesh? It is crazy. You can give the letter to me. I want to read it.”
“Okay. Take this, because I want to continue looking for something from this basket, Lenny.”
Loiston also gave the object she had found to the woman sitting in front of her, and Aufrodine accepted it with a feeling of confusion and curiosity. She tried to open the letter and hoped that nothing bad was in there. Meanwhile, a woman who had freckles on her face, although not too many, put her hands back into the basket.
That young lady felt that her hand touched something, then quickly pulled back the thing that felt soft with a feeling of heart. When she was able to see the item, Loiston was wide-eyed again because she did not expect such a thing to happen. “Len, I found something new-”
Before she could finish her words, the tall and slender woman had already cut her off. “Apple! It turns out that the baby is no ordinary child!”
“What? Why do you talk like that? Do you find any news about who was her parent?” asked Loiston, confused.
A woman called ‘Apple’ frowned because she heard the words from the interlocutor that surprised her. Alexa squirmed as a result of the orphanage’s head voice. However, that baby had not cried or woken up yet, so the woman holding her was relieved.
“Do not speak so loudly, Lenny. She can cry and then we will be the ones in trouble!” Loiston tried to warn her partner, glaring at him.
“I am sorry. I was just shocked when I read the contents of this letter.” The woman with thin eyebrows looked a little regretful, though the look of shock had not completely disappeared.
“What’s in the letter? Can you read it for me?” asked the green-eyed girl.
Aufrodine seemed silent for a moment, then began to exhale. Loiston, who saw this, was astonished because such a situation had never happened to the other person. The figure of the immortal goddess was still observing the two women without blinking at all.
“Okay. Dear Miss Laveyny Aufrodine and Miss Ioxinete Loiston.”
That girl deliberately paused to read the letter because she wanted to see the reaction of her colleague. The woman who was still holding a baby was, of course, flabbergasted and could not believe what she had just heard. “How could the sender of the letter know our full names? It is impossible,” said Loiston, amazed.
“This is just the beginning. I will continue to read this letter for you,” said Aufrodine. “We have been observing the orphanage you manage for a long time, so we knew your full name. You do not need our name, because we are just human being. Please do not be surprised. If this letter is in your hands, then we can be sure that our beloved daughter is there with you.”
“We, well, not really ‘us’, but Goddess Magia has chosen a beautiful name for her. You have to use that name or something bad will happen to you. Her name is Alexa Jocelyn Heart.”
“For the sake of Goddess Asiles! It turns out that this child is the chosen one?”
The green-eyed woman spontaneously turned into the eldest daughter of Lavena Isolda Keira and Tristian Varden Writh. She looked at her in horror, although the feeling of being unable to bear it was simultaneously confused, and all emotions mixed into one in her mind.
“Can I continue it?” asked Aufrodine, annoyed.
“Of course you can. Go on, Lenny,” replied the woman one year older than the questioner.
“We gave a bag of gold coins for our daughter’s expenses. You can take it all, but please use it to buy Alexa needs only. If you dare to lie, then you will get the bad luck. Beyond that, please take good care of our little angel. Do not hit nor hurt her, because she is a messenger from Goddess Magia. Everyone at Zlatav knows about the ancient prophecy, especially The Queen of Witchcraft, so you must know what will you get next.”
“Fuck! They just having thrown away their daughter in this place! This baby would have become the most dangerous girl in this country in the future, and then the letter sender could still threaten us! How dare them!” Loiston cursed quietly.
That woman seemed unable to contain the words from her inner turmoil. Aufrodine glared at her work partner, so the other person, without further ado, went silent. The cold air returned to them, so they both looked at each other.
“Shut up! Do not you dare to say bad that could threaten the safety of your soul! There is no sane human in Zlatav who wants to face the Moon Goddess who is also The Queen of Witches, because their lives are at stake. In fact, Goddess Asiles could not match her power. So, watch out for your words!” The black-haired woman warned earnestly.
“I am sorry, Lenny. I did not mean to be rude to Goddess Magia. I just felt upset, because-”
Before she could finish her words, Aufrodine had cut her words again. “Stop! Do not you continue! The air inside this place became very strange, when you mentioned the name of that Goddess. I am sure that She is here. I do not want to risk my life and this orphanage, Apple!”
Meanwhile, a mysterious woman who had been observing all the behaviour, as well as the conversation between the two female mortals, did not say anything. However, her eyes colour turned red, as if she was holding back anger. Alexa’s body squirmed, and then the small lips began to part. Loiston, who realized this moment, immediately rocked the baby so that the baby girl would not wake up.
“Okay, I will stop saying things like that. Is there anything else the parents of this baby say? If there is, please continue, because I want to listen to it.”
“Yes, there is still a continuation of the letter. My wife and I thank Miss Aufrodine and Miss Loiston, because you have accepted our little precious, even though you were forced to after knowing about who is our daughter. It is difficult to us to do this act, because we love her but this situation forces me to do so. Please take care her with love and so much attention, even though she is different from any children there. If the time has come, we will go back there, to-”
