Alpha Knight stood still and placed his arms on his waist. He was already wearing black sweatpants but what he was doing earlier still had him in a frenzy.
“Wayne,” Olive’s voice called from the door. He heaved and walked to it. He opened it and she was standing there in her towel.
“Yeah? I’m sorry, I took long,” he apologized immediately.
“Can I come in and wear my clothes?” she asked.
“Yeah, sure,” he answered and opened the door wider. She flashed him a short smile and passed by him.
“That’s what you’re wearing,” he said and pointed to the red crop top and short on the glass table. She walked to it and nodded. She was going to take underwears but-
“You are not wearing any underwears.”
“Why?” she blinked confusingly at him.
“We would be in here until it’s time to go out so no need,” he shrugged and backed her. He picked up his lip balm and closed it then returned it to the drawer.
“But my nipples would be taunt in this,” she complained. He looked at her over his shoulder.
“Exactly,” he said and she scoffed.
“You…” she muttered under her breath.
“Aren’t you going to wear a shirt? I suppose not,” she stated and he turned to look at her.
“No. I’d like to flaunt my abs for my girlfriend,” he teased and moved his hard chest muscles up and down. Olive gasped then chuckled. She turned around and held her cheek. That was sexy.
Olive heard him leaving and closing the door behind him. She exhaled and wore the outfit. She towel-dried her hair and let the damp locks fall on her back and shoulders. She then looked at the full mirror and turned around.
Olive looked smoking hot. Her hips were protruded and she turned to stare at them. Alpha Knight was going to be struck by her oozing sex appeal. Slowly and in a sexy catwalk, she stepped out of the dressing room. Wayne was chugging down a glass of water and when he sensed her, he turned around and his dark eyes lit up brightly.
Hotness.
She could feel his stare on her, but she ignored it and walked to a shelf containing gold medals and awards. She trailed her hands on a large golden wolf standing on its hind legs.
Underneath the plaque was ‘Alpha Power Of The Decade’. Her eyes widened with surprise. So he had worn that? That was the ultimate award in the werewolf world reserved for the most powerful Alphas all over the world and awarded once in ten years. She couldn’t believe her mate had won this decade’s award. She was so proud.
“You have so many awards, Waynie,” she said in a buttered up voice. Q
“Mmm hmm,” came his throaty reply. She looked over the rest of them then smiled and turned to look at him. He was resting against the dining table and looking at her. Or in better words, her body. She loved every gaze he was giving her. She wanted him to look at her that way for all eternity.
She was dumb enough before to think he didn’t desire her. That he didn’t even like her. But he did. She could recall that he showed small signs of desire back at the river he took her to.
“I think I should blow-dry my hair. Can you help me?” she said in a honeyed voice. Determined to hypnotize him. He looked her over and he inadvertently bit his lips. Then he walked to the bathroom and brought the blow dryer. She sat at her table while he switched it in and turned it on. She relaxed herself and he took her hair bit by bit and blowdried it, taking his time as he went. Olive loved the way he was being careful, as if her hair could break if he did it too rough or too fast. She loved the feel of his fingers in her hair. Gosh, she was going crazy over this Alpha.
“You are so good at this. Have you blowdried a girl’s hair before?” she asked. She knew the answer would be a no. He didn’t seem like one who went about blow-drying girls’ hair. She was definitely his first. She chuckled inwardly.
“Yes,” came his answer and disappointment flowed into her mind.
“Oh,” she said in a voice that was well opposite the excited ones she had been using earlier. She bit her lips and looked into the mirror. A question was burning at her heart but she didn’t want to ask it. However-
“Who?” she asked it.
“My ex girlfriends’ hair,” he answered casually.
“Ex girlfriend-sss?” she asked in a surprise tone, laying emphasis on the ‘s’ sound.
“Cara, Jade, Noris, Jessica…” he trailed off, not completing the list.
“How many did you have?” she asked, a little agitated.
“More than five. The last was Cynthia I guess.” He was still talking in his casual tone. Olive flared up and jerked her head from him. He looked surprised at her action.
“What? Did you blow-dry her hair too?” she shot at him. He didn’t answer. She scoffed and stood up but he pulled her back down and began blow drying the last damp hair.
“I didn’t blow-dry Cynthia’s hair,” he answered.
“But I guess you went on dinner dates with her. Probably you bought her the world. Ah! No wonder she was always shining and beaming with smiles whenever she returned from town. She also changed her entire wardrobe. No wonder!” she fumed and crossed her arms very angrily. Wayne who was behind her was trying too hard to stifle his laughter. He pinned his wrist to his mouth as he laughed silently. Olive turned to look at him abruptly and her face blanched as she saw him laughing.
“You are laughing at me!?” she boomed and was on her feet.
“Wayne!” she yelled as he began to step backwards, laughing out loud this time.
“Gosh! You are so, so funny,” he laughed and crouched down, placing his arms on his knees.
“You are so mean!” she nagged and ran out to the terrace. She stood in the wind and was breathing in and out heavily. She could still hear Wayne’s laughter. She scoffed. She had never heard him laugh like that and when she did, it was at her. She rolled her eyes.
He dropped the blow-dryer and walked unto the terrace too.
“Hey,” he said with a grin. His jaw hurt because of that laughter but he still couldn’t stop grinning. He thanked the moon goddess for a mate such as this. When was the last time he laughed heartily with real emotions like this?
Olive looked back at him as he approached her and huffed then crossed her arms.
“Come here, baby,” he said coaxingly and hugged her from behind. Olive’s head centered on that last word, ‘baby’. That was the very first endearment he had used on her. Somehow, her anger began to diffuse until it was finally gone. Wayne had called her baby.
“I’m sorry, okay. But you were so cute and jealous I couldn’t stop myself from laughing that way. I haven’t laughed that truly in ages, Olive,” he rasped as his arm held her across her chest, pinning her to him.
“But still, you should have answered me,” she complained yet again.
“I didn’t do any of those things with Cynthia, okay? I didn’t blow-dry her hair. Didn’t take her on any dates. Didn’t take her shopping,” he explained sincerely.
“Then how do you explain why she was radiating during those times she was your girlfriend? Even before I came to kill you, she had recently acquired a very expensive phone and kept shoving it in my face.” Olive’s voice was filled with disgust for Cynthia.
“I gave her lots of money, Olive. She was very demanding and I just gave her to avoid her whines,” he answered. Olive gulped and remembered something that once hurt her the very moment she heard it.
“That day, Cynthia had said something. She said you should give me a quick death so you could…” she trailed off and remained quiet, as if the burden of the words were too much for her to bear and push them out her throat.
“Go on,” Alpha Knight nudged. She turned her face to look at him.
“She said you should give me a quick death so you could… use your energy on her in bed,” Olive completed. Wayne was silent but she could see his eye color changing slightly golden. It was like a flicking lightbulb. It finally returned to normal and he smiled.
“She was trying to rub it in your face,” he answered.
“But you would have done it with her if you had killed me, right?”
Wayne ran his fingers through his hair and shut his eyes.
His wolf was agitated again.
Fury.
He was listening to Olive, but what he was seeing was her battered form. Her skin that was almost in blo. ody shreds. Her blo. od flowing on the floor and how weak and helpless she was. He would have never forgiven himself if he had ordered his men to finish her off and not wait for him. What would he have done if she had di. ed and he stepped into the room, only to see that the cor. pse was supposed to be his mate?
He would have gone feral. His men wouldn’t have survived that ordeal.
Even in his controlled and happy state after Olive was okay, he stopped himself from dealing mercilessly with Cynthia when Olive had fought with her in the garden that day. Now that she was bringing back Cynthia, and what happened that day, his wolf was getting that same anger again.
“I planned to ditch her that night. After the threat from The Vrek Cult was over,” he answered her question.
“You mean, you didn’t like her as a girlfriend?”
“I didn’t. She was a needed informant about someone. She loved attention and was proud. She would have told me anything as long as she could brag that she was with me. So I just let her in. I would have broken up with her already if she hadn’t come with the news of the cult coming after me.”
“Oh. I thought… I thought you cared for her.”
She looked forward and leaned softly against his chest. He smiled at her now relaxed self and slipped his second hand around her waist.
“I care only for you,” he rasped into her ear.
“And I’m sorry for what I did to you. I can’t seem to forgive myself for having you tortured. And for planning more torture on you.”
She turned around and cupped his face, his two hands holding the back of her waist.
“It’s fine, Wayne. Don’t regret it. But promise me something,” she demanded.
“What is it?”
“That you wouldn’t misuse me no matter what. You wouldn’t see me as a tool, a weapon, or a thing. That you wouldn’t selfishly make use of what I can do, except if I permit it,” she stated and he stared at her with his eyes turning to a slightly fiery blue.
The Vrek Cult had broken his woman. Had misused her. He would never.
“I promise.”
