Passed Out

Book:Mated To The Big Bad Alpha Published:2024-8-20

“I need new clothes, Alpha. Things suitable for strolling outside,” Olive’s voice reverberated in his head.
“Jackets, I suppose. Boots and Jean pants. I had lots of them back at the cult,” she added while staring into space with a weird smile on her face.
“What’s with the awkward smile?”
“It feels like a dream. That I can wake up in another house not belonging to The Vrek Cult, and not worry about going back,” she answered and looked at her cold pizza.
She smiled, lifted it up to her lips again and took a very big bite. She munched happily and nodded her head rhythmically as if she had earphones plugged in.
Wayne watched her in amusement. How could she be carefree and innocent looking one moment, and the next she turns into a guilty faced and nervous female then back to looking carefree.
He placed another pizza slice on her plate from the box and got on his feet.
“Sleep now since we have about two more hours until evening. I’ll wake you up when we’re ready to go,” he said as he was walking out of the room.
Olive wanted to scream at him to wait, but only her mouth opened wordlessly. She watched as he opened the door and disappeared behind it immediately.
Olive couldn’t help feeling down again. Whenever he left her, she felt sullen and sad. She wanted him to be around her 24/7 even though she knew that was impossible. He was an Alpha. The Alpha of the biggest pack in the country. Surely, he had loads of responsibilities and couldn’t hang around his wanty little mate all the time. She finished the last slice he had given her and wiped her fingers clean. She placed the plate on the bedside table and laid down, covering herself with the blanket. She closed her eyes and drifted up to sleep.
Alpha Knight had returned to his quarters, but not to his room. He had entered his gym and was hitting punch bags with so much viciousness that the bags were bursting open. He didn’t know why he so wanted to let off steam, but couldn’t call his men to spar.
He wanted to be alone, yet he hated the loneliness. He sunk to the ground and gripped his hair tight. His eyes became blurry and he felt darkness taking over his mind.
“No,” he muttered as he fell to the cold floor. Few seconds later and he was unconscious.
When he opened his eyes, he was tucked in his bed, shirtless and weak. He looked around and his room was empty. How had he gotten to his bed? He remembered passing out in his gym. He gulped dryly and walked out of his bed. He was only wearing his shorts and was even barefoot. He walked to his bar, chugged down enough water then walked towards his pool. He dived in directly and let himself sink to the bottom.
‘Miserable. That’s what you’ll be’ he heard that feminine voice echo in his head. His eyes yanked open and he swam to the surface. He began breathing fast, his wet hair covering half of his face.
He hated the feeling he was getting. It had been years since he last felt that way, because he had mastered control. He was now rock-hard, wicked, and dark even more than before. So, why did that feeling of despair crawl back in?
He blinked his eyes and packed his wet hair backwards with both his hands. He needed to see Mufasa again. As he was stepping out of the pool, his door opened and he hoped it was Olive returning. He wanted to see her desperately. But why? It couldn’t just be because she was his mate? Something deeper caused that feeling.
However, it was Jake that stepped in. He saw Wayne and bowed his head slightly.
“Alpha,” he acknowledged him.
Wayne just walked to the towel rack opposite the pool by the wall and picked a towel. As he was drying himself, Jake was watching him intently.
“You passed out, Wayne,” he finally spoke up.
“Were you the one who brought me in?” the Alpha asked. Jake hummed in acceptance.
“Are you alright, Wayne?”
But he didn’t answer. He wasn’t alright. But he couldn’t let Jake know he was slowly crumbling again.
“Did you get the clothes? Olive and I are leaving soon,” Wayne changed the topic. Jake sighed and looked at the closet.
“Yes, I have. They are all packed in the closet,” he answered. Wayne moved there and a look of satisfaction sprawled on his face the moment he took in all the mixed clothes. The closet used to be so masculine before, but now Olive’s clothes, though still dark coloured, made the closet a little bit less brooding.
“Please bring her in from Dolly’s room.”
“Yes, Alpha,” and Jake was gone. Wayne took a quick shower and wore his clothes. He sat on his sofa, legs wide apart. One of his hands was on the armrest, the other stretched on the headrest. He was gazing at the table, but his mind wasn’t even near it.
He was snapped out of his world of thoughts when the door slowly opened. Her scent filled him, bringing life and energy with it. He looked at her directly and let his eyes look her over.
His wolf purred in his head at the angelic princess, taking slow and gentle strides into the room with her pretty black dress swaying slightly. That feeling he first got when he saw her for the first time returned. To protect.
She didn’t seem to see him yet as she was glancing around the large room.
“Olive,” he drawled and she slowly moved her head to look at him. Their eyes locked again, brown to green.
There was something about the way he called her name just now that got Olive feeling warm from the inside. That call was possessive, yet soothing. It was seductive yet safe. It was tantalizing to her ears and what wouldn’t she do to have him call her that way again? With that deep, smooth voice of his.
As Olive’s eyes locked with his, she realized yet again that Alpha Wayne Knight was breathtaking. His hair was damp, and tousled. His eyelashes clung to one another, making him look like a beautiful man. The way his jaw was clenched, she felt like he was telling her to run her hands on it. The way he sat down like the big and dominating wolf that he was, she felt like crawling into his embrace and just to safely stay there.
No doubt, Olive was getting very attracted to this mate of hers. And it wasn’t even the mate bond this time. It was simply because he was seductively handsome.
