Cade lay on the bed with his face towards the ceiling, he had been staring at the ceiling for some time the playback of their conversation running through his mind. He tried to understand her standpoint point but for some reason, his own judgment could not allow him to see her point of view clearly. Maybe he was been biased thinking of himself only.
“It was not too strange that she is asking us to abstain” he said to himself turning to his side. As he turned his eyes caught the clock. It had been an hour since he laid down and for some reason, his mind could not shut down so he could sleep.
“Cade Fred Vale” he said sitting up and calling his name as though he was trying to call himself to order. “This is no time to worry about such things” he said and stood up going to the floor and trying to tire himself out.
Maybe if he did some exercise he would be too tired to think about their conversation and just sleep off. The party stress must have not been enough to knock him out at once. “She is right,” he said through his heavy panting as he did some press-ups.
“We both do not have time to bother ourselves with children, she is busy I am busy and what if we are not careful enough and we manage to bring a child into this world? Do we create a broken child from a broken home just because of a minute of pleasure?” he asked himself angrily as he let himself to the ground panting hard from the press-up.
“I am so out of shape, better hit the gym first thing tomorrow,” he said to himself, his legs crossed as he sat on the ground. Heavy pants left his mouth as he tried to steady his breathing from releasing deep breaths from his mouth.
“We could be careful” he said kicking his legs in the air and throwing his back to the ground.
“Why am I even throwing a tantrum at something so simple?” he asked himself angry now at the situation and how he was reacting. He closed his eyes trying to think about the million and one tasks he had to get done. For whatever reason his mind kept circling back to their conversation every single time.
The worst part of it for him was that he had to stay at least two weeks with her and they were just going to act like strangers to each other. Maybe he should cancel the honeymoon and claim that there was important business to take care of.
He knew that doing that would awaken those who cared so much about the relationship and they would begin to dg and make claims about the authenticity of their relationship. They had two days to be together while living like strangers and then after that, they had three weeks booked out of the country for their honeymoon.
“Cade you have better things to worry about than to be worried that your wife is denying you s*x” he said closing his eyes tightly so that lines formed around them.
“But why is it so difficult to do?” he said to himself again. He jumped out of bed and into the bed closing his eyes tightly preparing to force himself to bed no matter what.
He shook in his bed as the alarm went off, he had set an alarm to begin going back to the gym. Working for his grandfather had made him so inconsistent with his life because meetings could arise at any time and needed urgent attention. Just because he was trying his best to be accepted by his grandfather he always himself.
“Good morning you are up early” Ophelia’s voice startled Cade as he got down the stairs. He was shocked to see her down there that early. He had wanted to wake up extra early so he could avoid her and maybe the only reason he would have had to encounter her was by running into each other by chance during the day.
“You are up early” he said clearing his throat.
“Going for a tun and judging by your fit you must be going on one as well,” she said with glee in her eyes it was hard to miss.
Cade wondered what kind of person she was. If she was pretending to be okay after the conversation they had yesterday then he would be okay but seeing the light in her eyes he would not believe it if he was told that she was just pretending. Her eyes looked real it was scary to him.
“Should we go together?” she asked snapping on her tracker to her hands. She did so well without needing help from him. He cleared his throat wondering how much independent she was.
“I like running alone” he replied going to stand by the door and trying to stretch out.
“That is because you have not done with someone else” she replied coming to stand beside him. “It is fun” she added turning to him with a smile.
“Exercising should not be fun” he replied with a stone-cold expression and frown on his face.
“Are you still angry about yesterday?”
“I already told you yesterday that I was not angry, there was nothing to be angry about and I do not like exercising with others” he said and took off before she could say anything to respond.
He had not been on a run in at least three months so he was not sure how fit his body was, he was not ready to show her how unfit he was and give her an excuse to refuse him more. He was barely a distance out of the gate when she caught up with him and was now running side by side with him.
“Why did you leave me alone? Leys go together and have fun together” she said and he slowed down jogging in place.
“What way are you going?” he asked and she pointed to the right, he turned on his heels now facing the left and moving as fast as he could in the opposite direction.
Ophelia stopped and bent to hold her knees with one hand. “He is mad”
