Ophelia got inot the room and shut the door before locking it with the key, she placed her back on the door and put her hand across her beating heart. She replayed the event in her mind to see what he had done that was so special causing her heart to beat as rapidly as it was but she found nothing.
“What is wrong with you Ophelia Rainbow Frost?” she asked herself loudly and then stopped to laugh at herself. She walked to the mirror to look at herself, Did her name change to Vale now that she was married to him?
“I always liked my name, it always reminded me that we have no frozen rainbows and that they only last for a short time but they are always so beautiful, that it was hard to look away. “One more thing to talk to him about”
She turned to the back of her dress and sighed, she wondered why these dresses were made in this manner, it was as if they wanted the person wearing the dress to be unable to take it off themselves.
She needed help and she knew she could not ask him. They were all alone in the house and there was nobody for her to call, Everyone they knew said they were giving them privacy before they went on their honeymoon in two days.
She struggled with the dress and finally gave up when she almost tripped on herself. She had almost given in and called Diana to come help her get out of her dress but she did not want to. She wondered how the designer wanted her to get out of the dress herself. She decided to go ask him for help, all he had to do was take down the tight gripping corset unveil the zipper behind it and then take it down.
She took a deep breath and walked down the stairs to meet him but he was not in the living room where she left him.
“Cade?” she called out.
“In the kitchen” he replied and she went to meet him. “Making us something because…” he trailed off when he saw her still in her dress.
“What are you still doing in that?” he asked pointing to her dress.
She latched herself to the doorway and bent her head in shame. “I could not get out of it by myself, can you help me please?” she asked as she stared at her feet.
“Help you? How?” he asked washing off his hands in the sink and then drying it off with a towel and then walking to her.
“You just have to take off this corset rope and then unzip the dress and I got it from there” she explained to him.
“Okay I think I should be able to do that,” he said dropping off the towel to the chair beside them.
“Don’t try any funny business, don’t try to look either” she warned and he laughed taking a step back.
“I have no intentions of doing that” he said somewhat bruising her ego. Was she not attractive enough for him? “I would not be doing this if not that you asked anyway” he added finally killing whatever ego she had left in her.
“Fine whatever” she said masking her shame and turning to him. “Just get it done”
Cade was confused at the complexity of the dress but pretty quickly he got a hang of it, she saw once again why he was a top student. “The zipper now” he murmured and she felt his breath on her back.
“Okay,” she said with a nod.
She heard the zipper go down and her hand was ready to hold up her clothes in the front so it did not go down to the ground. “Thank you” she screamed as she bolted out the door not stopping once until she got to her room.
She pushed herself inot the room and locked the door allowing the dress to flow freely to her feet. As soon as her dress was off she heard a knock on the door.
“Ophelia?” Cade called from outside. He did not know if it was a good idea to leave them all alone but he knew that many would begin to doubt them if they had the staff come in before they went on honeymoon.
“Yes?” she called back to him waiting to hear why he was at her door.
“I am making something to eat for us. You barely ate anything at the ceremony so don’t waste time in here and be down soon” he said.
“I am not hungry” she called going to the door.
“But you had nothing to eat”
“Yeah, let us just call it a night”
“Are you embarrassed?” he asked and she wished the ground would open up and swallow her there and then. Did he have to mention it to her again when it was clear she wanted to avoid him that night even though she was starving?
“No, just tired”
“”You should not sleep tired on an empty stomach” he replied, she knew that she would not be able to sleep at all that night after what had just happened. She wondered why he was so worried about her and she wanted to tell him off.
“I can do that for one night at least”
“And risk it becoming a habit?” he asked and she groaned. Why was he not getting the hint when she was being so open about it?
“Don’t be embarrassed, we might have to do more of that so you might as well get used to it”
“What do you mean do more of that?” she asked wondering why he was still at the door talking.
“Who knows what the future has for us, so don’t be embarrassed and come down soon, I made the meal for us” he said and then she heard his footsteps go away.
“Do I have to?” she groaned to herself. She could not believe she was going down after she had been so embarrassed a minute ago. She changed into something simple, a house shorts and a singlet,
“Here goes nothing” she let out as she dropped to the base of the stairs,
