“Do you have something else to report?” Cade asked Sue who was standing in front of him. She had given her entire daily report but still did not leave immediately. Looking at her he could tell she was contemplating whether to tell him or not.
“This might be nothing and I might be making a big deal out of it” she said taking a deep breath and gulping down taking out the tablet in her hand and giving it to him. On the screen of the tablet was an image of Cael and Frances photographed from the side.
“What is this?” Cade asked confused.
“Mr Vale was seen outside yesterday with Frances Gate”
“And you have this image?” he asked studying the image. It was not attached to an article, it was like someone sent it to her.
“Some reporter sent this to the PR team asking if it was real”
“And how did you get your hands on it?”
“I have my ways” Sue announced like she was declaring a fact.
“Are you dating someone in the PR team?” Cade asked and Sue shrugged as if she did not understand what he meant. “Why are you showing me this? Unlike my brother, I do not invest my time trying to be all up in his business”
“Do you not find the timing odd? I mean the news of your wedding has only been sitting in the news less than two days and he is now out and about with the youngest daughter of the Gate family”
“I guess my brother now understands the importance of marrying a strong family after all” Cade said. He did not want to be in the business of his brother.
“I think he plans to cover up the news of your wedding by announcing his relationship” Sue expressed her concern.
“And you think he would be able to do that?”
“If he pays the right people” Sue replied.
“If he doubles the payments we triple it. Our wedding must keep making the top headlines until after the wedding” Cade said as a finality. “And we don’t know if he really wants to topple my news over or if he just trying to get a family started”
“Mr Vale”
“Ms Sue, let’s get back to work,” Cade said dismissively.
His brother hated him but he would not waste his breath trying to take him down as he kept doing for him. He would try to be the bigger person all the way. After his popularity compared to that of his brother was higher Ophelia could not be compared to them both.
For some reason, she was well-loved by the media and everything she did made headlines. Frances Gate was a private person, even though their relationship made the news there was no way it would overshadow his news.
“Back to work now” Cade said again causing Sue to leave.
She was worried this was a kind of poly, she had worked briefly with Cael and she knew he was not the sharpest tool in the shed. He was full of useless emotions that were not good for business. He always delayed doing things which made him lose out on a lot. Working for Cade was better for her and she knew she would rise to the ranks if Cade managed to rise as well.
The company would be better in the hands of Cade than Cael even though he was older. Cael would be controlled by his mother and it would be hers. She might as well find a way to run down the company.
After a long day of work, Cade got a text message from Ophelia asking him to meet her somewhere no questions asked. Knowing that they were fighting on the same side he went to meet her. He dismissed his driver and assistant and drove by himself to the address.
Pulling up to the location he discovered it was a dress shop. “Did you have to do this?”
“I had to, the designer told me you had not come to pick out a design by yourself and our wedding is in nine days,” Ophelia said as he stopped by her.
“And eight days is enough time to get a tuxedo tailored for me,” he said and she shook her head.
“I gave you about five days to get your suit yourself but somehow you managed to fail at it so now I have taken matters into my hands and brought you here”
“This is not necessary”
“Of course, it is, even if it is a contract or arranged marriage I would not get married to you if you do not look up to my taste”
“Are you saying I have bad taste?”
“Of course not, I am just saying my taste is better” she replied scrunching up her face at him.
“Chop chop, we kept the designer waiting up until this time, and just to say this in passing you will no longer wear boring things when we get married”
“Why did you do something so unnecessary then?”
“Unneccessary?” Ophelia asked her hand on her waist as her face turned up in a frown. “Get into the shop while I am being nice, right now” she said and he nodded walking into the store sheepishly.
She followed behind and made him change into various outfits while discussing the style with the designer. After a long back and forth they finally agreed on one outfit and was going to have it fitted for him.
“I must commend you, Mr Vale, you have such a beautiful body I would be delighted to make you a custom-made suit, I am sure it would be perfect for you” the designer said.
“Oh my, that is such a great idea, after the wedding, we will be back for that suit,” Ophelia said before Cade could turn him down. He did not need a custom-made suit he already wore designer suits that cost a fortune to work, he did not need one from him.
“Oh I would be happy to do so”
“Thank you for staying late for us”
“My pleasure” the designer replied before walking away.
