LOVED TEN

Ophelia was graceful in her dress and Cade could not deny it so he was almost jumping on his toes, pointing his hands in her face and laughing his ass off when she said her legs hurt.
“I told you to wear something comfortable,” he said as he could not help himself.
“I did not know that I would need to go around a bookstore trying to educate a grown man on how to treat a woman, the way a woman wants to be treated” she sighed.
“Wait here then” he said pointing to the bench behind them.
“Here?”
“Yes”
“Why?”
“You ask a lot of questions and I will be back soon” he said turning on his heels and walking away. She watched him go and her eyes darted to a group of schoolgirls giggling in the corner. Their eyes turned to face her and they had the most offended look on their face. She knew they were schoolgirls because they were still in uniform.
“If you have a beef to pick with me don’t be a coward and go for it” Ophelia said making the girls turn to her. If those girls made a scene here she was sure she could get off it so fast and they might be the ones who pay for whatever she decides to start.
“Beef to pick with you?” one of the girls murmured like it was one of the most ridiculous things she had heard.
“I mean, it’s rude to stare but you kept staring at the ass of my boyfriend and now you are acting all strong and mighty because I caught you”
“What do you mean by we were staring at the ass of your boyfriend?” another of the girl asked in a high-pitched voice.
“What do you mean boyfriend? Why would Cade Vale be with a wannabe like you?” the first girl that spoke asked in anger.
“Oh good, you know him, then you should do your research,” she said. Maybe she was enjoying the attention but she wanted to keep the conversation going.
One of the girls in the group began tapping away at her phone rapidly and then a shocked expression appeared on her face, she showed the phone to the girl beside her who whispered to the girl standing in front. That one turned to them in shock and demanded to see the phone. She read through whatever it was that was on the phone screen before turning to Ophelia.
“You are Ophelia Frost?” she asked.
Ophelia began to walk towards them. “Have I been away for too long that any Tom or Harry can think of talking to me?” she asked and stopped a few meters from them.
“We did not know because it has been so long since we heard about you, we are actually fans,” the girl who did the research said and Ophelia chuckled.
“But is it true that you and Cade are together”
“Don’t we look like we are on a date right now?” she asked.
“It is just unbelievable that is why, he has always been single” another girl replied.
“I guess he was just waiting to meet me,” Ophelia said as she threw up in her mouth.
“Oh my gosh,” one of the girls let out in a shocked tone.
“Are you disappointed?” Ophelia asked. Was she asking for validation from school girls? Seeing that they were in this neighbourhood, maybe one or two of them came from money. She knew all five of them couldn’t come from money. She was sure that the two who were quiet were the wealthy ones among them. They did not concern themselves with such matters.
“Of course not, you two look so good together” Ophelia could not tell if they were being honest or if they were just trying to butter her up.
“But you did not think so until you knew me” Ophelia responded.
“No, we were just speaking out of spite,” the first girl said again.
“Oh were you?” Ophelia asked and then moved closer to them. “What do you think? Would we make a great couple if we got married?” the reason she was asking them all these questions was that teenagers do not hold back to spare others’ feelings, they were annoying little beings who loved telling the truth about issues that were not their business.
“Of course,” the girl said with a thumbs up. She studied their faces and she realised that they were telling the truth.
“Your phone” She stretched her palm to them. The girl who had been speaking rushed to the front and dropped her phone in her hands. She turned the camera on and clicked a few selfies. “Brag about meeting me to your classmates,” she said.
“They would not believe me” the girl trailed off before her eyes lighted as though she got the brightest idea. “Unless we get a selfie together”
“Come here” Ophelia said and they both posed for the camera. “Should we get someone to take us all?” she asked her eyes roaming around. As if Cade was timing them he came in and walked toward them. She turned to him so her back could be to the girls.
“Honey” she said but her eyes were telling him to cooperate with her. He understood immediately and leaned into her.
“Yes Baby,” he said.
‘Oh he is good at this’ she said to herself as she watched the expression on his face.
“Can you take a picture for us?”
“Sure,” he said taking the phone she stretched to him.
Cade clicked and after a while, the phone was back into the hands of Ophelia. She handed the girl the phone with a smile.
“If you tag me online, I might as well buy you and your friend’s lunch one of these days”
“Really?”
“Yes”
“Can we choose what we want?”
“Of course”
“Five-star restaurants too?”
“Seven stars if you want”
The girls stood in shock as Cade led Ophelia away from them and out of hearing reach.
“What was that all about?”
