Chapter 77: Valerian’s

Book:The Alpha Slayer's Redemption Published:2024-8-20

Valerian
“Valerian… No! No!”
I could hear Dominixe’s cries. She kept calling for my name.
“No! Valerian…”
I couldn’t open my eyes. But I could faintly hear her.
Honeydew… Where were you? You were not supposed to be crying since I died now. But I wanted to be there for you. I did not want it to end like this.
“Don’t you think it is dangerous, Dameta? Mother will find it out that we are in a different dimension…”
Hold on… Who was that? I heard a voice of a woman that I did not know.
“This is the only way. I cannot make my other self regret this. I have suffered enough. So, please bear with me, older sister.”
I was confused. I was hearing Dominixe’s voice. It was making my heart go wild.
I wanted to open my eyes. I wanted to see if that was Dominixe. But her voice sounded different.
“It is good that I freeze his body before his last breath. Being a Goddess of Time has come in handy. I can even rewind the time his body was not pierced by my sword back then.”
Huh? Goddess of Time?
What was Dominixe talking about?
“Whoa… Now, that’s why you said that we do not need to have Older Sister Iseldis come with us since she is the Goddess of Healing and Hunting. I am expecting that you would let her heal his wounds. That’s very smart, sister. Where did you learn it?”
And who the hell was Iseldis? Goddess of Healing and Hunting?
What in the world was happening?
But… why did I feel my body so light now? As if… I had never been gone with injuries and wounds.
“I used someone as my guinea pig…”
“No way… Do not tell me that you used my nephew on this… That isn’t warm-hearted of you! You have been abusing Demetrius, Dameta!”
“Tsk… Can we not talk about that child, Elixane? Look… Valerian is waking up…”
I slowly peeled my eyes open. “L-Lilith…?” I muttered her unique name that would forever be engraved in my heart.
My vision was filled with clouds, adjusting to my surroundings. I felt a familiar pair of hands helping me to get up.
“Valerian…”
“Domi…” I slowly looked up and was shocked to see Dominixe, who looked… aged. My wolf kept chanting ‘mate’ in my head as her familiar cognac orbs pierced me. “Why do you look… you had aged for more than 10 years?” I asked, hesitant.
Even so, she still looked beautiful in my eyes. However, seeing her eyes registered exhaustion with a glint of hope and delight when our eyes met had stirred inside me.
Why did she look… depressed in my eyes?
Dominixe smiled. Tears started to fill his eyes. “Do I look old enough to be called an old woman now? I’m… only 43 years old.”
“What?! 43? Since when did you age like that?” But I halted when my eyes roamed around to see that the place froze. What horrified me was I was at the moment where my surroundings were obscured with arson but frozen. “What is happening?” I was confused. “And… who are you?” I asked the other woman Dominixe was with.
“Just a passerby.” She shrugged.
“Passerby?” I looked at her in disbelief. Then to Dominixe, who aged like a fine wine. “What is happening? I knew that I had died. Am I in heaven or what?” I was getting suspicious since it looked bizarre being surrounded by two women, and the surrounding was not even moving but only the three of us.
They exchanged glances before Dominixe answered. “I managed to save you by returning your body to its original state, honeydew.” Her voice croaked. “This time… at least, I could save you in this timeline.” She smiled bitterly.
“What do you mean? I do not get it…”
Her smile did not reach his eyes. “I am Dameta. I am a spirit goddess and one of the daughters of the Moon Goddess.” I gasped. Daughters of the Moon Goddess? “I am also known as the Goddess of Time in my original timeline.”
“I… I do not understand…”
I flinched when Dominixe cupped my face. “Listen carefully since I am only going to say this once. Alright?” I nodded mindlessly. “I am Dominixe from a different dimension. In my dimension, you really died.” My eyes widened. “My mother, the Moon Goddess, did not even want to grant my request to return you to your life since your mission is over. I refused to believe that. Since I could turn back time, she restricted my abilities. I might have successfully brought down my father, but I was unhappy without you. That is why, as soon as Mother rereleased my abilities for the past years, I believed that another dimension exists where I might be able to change the course of flow and save you. I need you to help my other self to wake up her abilities as the Goddess of Time. Do not let her suffer anymore. Please. It was already enough that I was the one who suffered. Valerian… Please believe me…” she begged. “I am already proof that I came from another world…”
With that, she broke down and released my face. A woman who was with her approached her and caressed her back.
“Elixane…” Dominixe looked at her with tears.
The woman named Elixane hugged her and looked at me, pleading. “Please, believe us. You might be able to change the flow in this timeline, Valerian. You might be able to save Dominixe from her father…”
My wolf wanted me to approach Dominixe, who looked like she wanted everything to end worse. It broke me to see how she was crying profusely.
“How am I going to help my honeydew?” I asked and decided to approach the aged Dominixe. Then I knelt on one knee and gently wiped her tears. “As long as it might help me to free her… I am willing to cooperate.” And I hated to see her suffering.
How much more if I saw Dominixe at this timeline? That would hurt me more.
I was still trying to comprehend everything, but I understood the concept. I did not know that there was another dimension existed. I was… baffled.
And Dominixe is a daughter of the Moon Goddess? Was that the reason why she did not know who her mother was?
Dominixe sniffed and looked at me lovingly. “I knew that you would be a good choice…” We helped her stand up. “Having Elixane here, you can infiltrate the Cantavalle estate undetected.”
“What do you mean? What is she going to do?” I glanced at her. “Could you be… one of the daughters of the Moon Goddess?”
She nodded. “I am Elixane. It is my deity name. There is no need for you to learn my mundane name.” She glared at Dominixe. “Dameta, you promised not to let him find me in this timeline. You will be in big trouble if you ruin the laws of nature. Mother is going to intervene with us.”
“I know… That is why I have been careful. But I have a feeling that she already knows, sister.” Dominixe looked guilty.
“Why are you calling her sister? And why is your name different?” I couldn’t help the curiosity kick in me.
“Dameta is Dominixe’s deity name. And she is my sister. We have the same mother, the Moon Goddess,” Elixane explained.
“It would have been better that you should call me Dameta instead Dominixe, Valerian. So you wouldn’t confuse.” Dominixe smiled.
“Um… Alright. D-Dameta…” I practiced using that deity name of hers.
Dominixe nodded in approval. “So, here is the plan.” She turned at Elixane. “Please, sister…” She gestured her hand.
Elixane nodded and stepped forward. “Since all of you assumed you were dead, you shall need a disguise.”
“How?”
“The best course of action I thought of is to rip out your wolf from you.”
“H-Huh? What kind of disguise is that?” I stepped backward, frightened. “Rip out my wolf from me? Then I would become wolfless!” I exclaimed, not liking this idea a bit.
“In order to have a complete disguise, your wolf would take over your body and become a different person. His features would even change as well. Fret not. Dominixe wouldn’t be able to recognize your wolf. We are going to conceal your scent,” she explained.
“I-Isn’t that dangerous?” I was hesitant. “My wolf inside me is a rebellious one. He wouldn’t be able to keep himself around Dominixe. Even facing Dameta is enough for me that I couldn’t control if she is around.” My wolf kept urging me to pull Dameta into my arms. He kept making my mind miserable.
Dameta chuckled. “You never changed, honeydew.”
My stomach somersaulted, hearing her chuckle. I felt embarrassed all of a sudden.
If she was making me feel like this, then she was Dominixe, after all. But she was in a different timeline where I died there.
Imagine the misery Dominixe had to go through… I could see myself dealing with the devil to be in her situation. Lucky for her, she can go to any timeline or turn back time if she wants to since… I couldn’t believe that she was the daughter of the Moon Goddess.
I hadn’t heard such things that the Moon Goddess could bear daughters.
“Your wolf won’t. But he needs to adjust in his human life as soon as I switch the two of you.”
“What will happen to me then if you are going to separate me from my wolf?”
“You are going to be inside him. You will be two souls existing in one body,” Elixane explained. “However, you cannot come out since it would be your wolf to take over your body. You can only watch your wolf. You may argue with him.”
“In short, you will become a wolf soul, Valerian.” It was Dameta who spoke.
“Huh?” I was in disbelief. “But…”
Dameta took my hand. “This is the only way. Please… I will guide you. You will be able to return to your original state once my other self manages to activate her abilities as the Goddess of Time. But for now, you wouldn’t be able to do so after Elixane switches your souls.” Her hold tightened around my hand. “Valerian… My other self and I both regretted that you died… Slaughtering your pack members made us feel guilty. Please… let us atone for our sins.”
When she said those words, I felt anger rise inside me. I remembered how Dominixe slaughtered my pack members.
“I hate you for killing them…” I said through gritted teeth. “I cherished my pack members, but you caused them suffering.” I raised my fist and was about to hurt her. Even Dameta was prepared for my fist and closed her eyes. It was as if she was accepting it with no hesitation. My fist ceased before it could reach her beautiful face. I put down my hand and sighed, hurting. “But even so, I still love you, Dominixe… despite the betrayal you did.”
She bit her lower lip. My heart kept hammering inside my chest how she looked guilty right now.
“That is why I am here now to atone for my sins…” she muttered. “Even that child… I caused so much pain on his part.”
I creased my forehead. “What are you talking about?”
Dameta averted her gaze. “Nothing…”
I looked at her suspiciously. I thought I knew so much about her, but I was wrong. Dominixe knew how to keep things, but she managed to open up to me from before… like how she grew up in her household.
Elixane clapped her hands to gather my attention. “Shall we begin, or shall we stare at each other?” she asked, arching her eyebrow.
Dameta cleared her throat. “Would you like us to continue this or-”
“I am not going to change my mind. If it is for Dominixe’s sake, I am willing to take any risk as long as I can help her however I can, even though she hurt me.” Not only that, I wanted to free her from her father, who kept controlling her.
I saw the fear evident in her eyes when her father. She wanted to fight back but couldn’t find herself to do so.
And this would be my opportunity to learn Dominixe’s lifestyle.
When I looked at Dameta, her eyes were filled with sadness. “How I wish I could do this before…” she muttered before turning to Elixane, who sighed and worried for her.
Elixane approached me and raised her hand. “This is going to be extreme pain. I hope you can handle the pain since ripping out your wolf from you is not an easy task.”
“If it is not easy, why will you help me?”
“It is for my sister, idiot. And, of course, I wouldn’t want to see her suffering anymore, even if Mother will be mad at us.” She smiled and held my hand. “I, Elixane, am the sixth daughter of the Moon Goddess, and the Goddess of Reincarnation shall help Valerian Leveaux split his soul into two.” I gasped when she pierced her hand to my left chest and clutched my heart. “Lend me your wolf soul and be diverge from his original source!”
When I felt her clutching my heart, I screamed in pain. The unbearable pain of feeling like my body was being extracted from a foreign entity.
I was being like that until my vision went black. “Lilith…”
