Upon hearing this, Marie looked flustered and said, “I’m sorry, I don’t drink.”
“Don’t drink?” The man in the suit sneered, “Do you know who I am? I’ll pay you any amount if you drink with me.”
Marie hurriedly replied, “I’m sorry, I’m just here as a part-time waitress, not to drink with customers!”
Tonight, Marie had come to the Four Seasons Bar for a part-time job. Her family was quite poor, and she had always relied on part-time jobs to cover her college living expenses. She had heard that working as a waitress in a bar paid well, so she decided to give it a try. But she never expected to encounter such a situation.
“Damn! Are you looking for trouble? You refuse my offer and want to be punished instead?”
Seeing Marie’s refusal, the man in the suit stood up angrily. Meanwhile, several bodyguards surrounded Marie.
Marie asked fearfully, “What do you want?”
“What do I want?” The man in the suit sneered, “Tonight, you will drink with me whether you like it or not! If you don’t, you won’t leave this room!”
“You’re quite something! Forcing a girl to drink with you when she doesn’t want to. Are you out of your mind?” At this moment, Chris Shelby appeared at the door of the private room with a mocking smile.
“Mr. Shelby!” Seeing Chris Shelby, Marie’s face lit up with surprise. She never expected Chris Shelby to show up here.
The man in the suit squinted his eyes at Chris Shelby and asked, “Who are you? How dare you meddle in my business?”
Chris Shelby sneered, “I’m with Crazy Steer. This place is under our protection.”
Chris Shelby didn’t reveal his true identity but mentioned Crazy Steer instead. Recently, Crazy Steer had been quite notorious on the East Coast, and Chris Shelby wanted to see if their name carried weight.
“What?” The man’s face changed instantly upon hearing this. He knew that Crazy Steer was currently the biggest gang on the East Coast and was challenging the dominance of security companies there. He couldn’t afford to offend them.
The man hesitated and asked, “Are you really from Crazy Steer?”
Chris Shelby scoffed, “You can think I’m lying if you want, but if you offend Crazy Steer, you’ll regret it. If you’re found dead on the street, don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
Hearing this, the man broke into a cold sweat. He had heard of Crazy Steer’s ruthlessness. On the East Coast, no one who crossed them had met a good end.
Thinking of this, he smiled apologetically and said, “I’m sorry, I didn’t know you were from Crazy Steer.”
Chris Shelby snorted coldly, “Next time, watch who you’re messing with. Some people are off-limits.”
“Yes, yes, you’re right!” The man nodded quickly without any objection.
Chris Shelby glanced at Marie and said, “Marie, come here.” Marie nodded and followed him out of the private room.
Once outside, Marie lowered her head and said, “Mr. Shelby, I’m sorry for causing trouble.”
Chris Shelby waved his hand dismissively and asked, “Why are you here?”
Marie replied, “Mr. Shelby, I’m working part-time here.”
Hearing this, Chris Shelby was speechless. He hadn’t expected Marie to be so diligent as to take a part-time job at a bar.
Chris Shelby advised her sternly, “Don’t work here again. Bars are full of all kinds of people. You’re lucky I showed up tonight; otherwise, who knows what could have happened.”
“Okay,” Marie nodded vigorously; she was still shaken by what had happened. She couldn’t imagine what would have happened if Chris Shelby hadn’t appeared in time.
Chris Shelby looked her over carefully; she looked quite attractive even in her work uniform. No wonder that man wanted to harass her.
“Alright then, go home now; it’s not safe for you here,” he said firmly.
“But… my shift isn’t over yet,” Marie hesitated.
Chris Shelby snapped impatiently, “Forget your shift! Go home now and don’t come back here again.”
“Okay,” seeing that he was serious, Marie didn’t argue further and left the bar immediately.
After Marie left, Chris Shelby returned to the bar’s main hall. There he saw Jazz talking with a man who had several followers behind him. Chris didn’t need to guess; he knew that man must be Ironheart Steer.
According to intel from Lightning, Ironheart Steer was ruthless and had risen from being a street thug to become the leader of Crazy Steer. No one in Crazy Steer dared show him any disrespect now.
Chris hid in a corner and observed Jazz and Ironheart Steer quietly. Soon after, Jazz followed Ironheart into a luxurious private room guarded by several bodyguards in black suits who were armed.
Seeing this made Chris frown. He wanted to find out what Jazz and Ironheart were up to but getting into that room would be difficult. However, such challenges were nothing for him.
Just then, he noticed a waiter carrying a bottle of wine approaching. An idea struck him as his eyes lit up.
Chris knocked out the waiter and dragged him into an empty corner. Moments later, dressed in the waiter’s uniform and holding the bottle of wine himself, he headed towards the private room.
“Stop! What are you doing here?” One of the bodyguards stopped him at the door.
Keeping his head down, Chris replied softly, “I’m delivering wine.”
“Really? Search him!” Despite his claim of being a waiter, they remained cautious and searched him thoroughly but found no weapons on him.
“He’s clean; let him through,” one guard said after checking him over.
Without saying another word, Chris pushed open the door and walked inside where he saw Jazz sitting on a sofa with Ironheart Steer.
Ironheart frowned upon seeing him enter and demanded sharply,
“What do you want?”
