‘Her arrival can’t be so fast.’ Tom thought as he glanced at his watched and checked the time. After all, it would take some energy and a little while for Veronica to run away from Nick.
At the same time, just when he was thinking about it, he found that there was red and blue light 100 meters away from the crossroads.
‘That’s a police car and they’re headed this way!’ Anxiously, he looked around and searched for a spot to hide on.
The reason why he saw them even from such a long distance is that Tom has a cautious mind, he deliberately chose a favorable position to stand tall and looked at them.
Tom freaked out. He immediately turned around and ran.
“Ah!” However, Tom staggered at his foot carelessly. He rolled down a few times and got up as he hurriedly went downstairs.
Veronica sat on the edge of the bed with a cell phone in her hand. She wondered if Tom would be caught by the police.
‘It’s unlikely that they would catch him, isn’t it? After all, Tom is not the kind of person who’ll just stand there motionlessly and won’t run.’
Even so, he was as frightened as a street mouse.
It’s only a matter of time before he gets caught!
Why was there a police car? Of course, Veronica called the police.
How could she tolerate the insane Tom and the hideous crimes that he did?
Tom killed someone, his wife to say the least. Besides, he wanted to take Veronica away, too. Appalled by his suggestive ideas, Veronica didn’t know what to do. So, she did what she thought was right and called the authorities.
The police searched and rummage every nooks and cranny in the suburbs. But in the end, he escaped by hiding in a dustbin.
Tom didn’t climb out of the dustbin until the night was quiet.
He left his cell phone at a farmer’s house. At this time, he called Saxon Raglan.
When Saxon received the call from Tom, he was not surprised. By this time, the family had already finished Sarah North’s funeral.
“I can’t get out of here, Saxon. Can I go back to the Z City with you? Right now, you’re the only person I can trust! Can I trust you?” Desperate time calls for desperate measure. Tom dreadfully asked.
“Of course.”
“Sarah’s case was a misunderstanding, and I’d like to explain to Clare’s face to face.”
“No problem. I’ll send someone to pick you up, so don’t go anywhere.” Saxon replied.
“That’s good!” Tom Parker thought about it. He was worried but gave his trust to Saxon. After all, he’s the only guy that can help him out of his dire situation. “You won’t report me to the police, right? Don’t promise me on the surface and secretly call the police to set me up, will you?”
“Don’t worry, I will never call the police,” Saxon promised.
Saxon is a man of his word. After hanging up the phone, he didn’t call the police.
Instead, he sent someone to pick him up.
Tom hid in the house and peeked at the strange man who got out of the car. He couldn’t make up his mind whether he wanted to go out or not.
‘What if he’s an undercover cop?’ Paranoid, he can’t help but to second-guessed.
After waiting for another ten minutes, he saw a little impatience on the strange man’s face before he decided to go out. “Are you the one sent by Saxon Raglan?”
“Boss Parker, Mr. Raglan asked me to pick you up.” The man said.
Tom breathed a sigh of relief. “Sure enough, I was right about him. He was loving and righteous, just like his father! I’ve hidden long enough. Let’s go!”
He was about to pull the car door, but it was blocked by a man.
Tom saw the man took out a suitcase about one meter long from the trunk. He threw it on the ground and opened it. Engulfed by curiosity, Tom wondered. “What does this mean?”
“Mr. Raglan said there will certainly be checkpoints along the way. Although we can escape them we need to be fully prepared, just in case. It would be just a grievance to Boss Parker if that happens.”
Tom was stupefied for a moment. He then understood what he meant and couldn’t believe it. “What? How many hours will you keep me in the suitcase? Am I such a small man?”
“Boss Parker, this is your last resort. Do you want to be arrested by the police? If you want, I have no problem with it.” The man replied.
Tom turned pale with anger. Of course, he didn’t want to be caught by the police! If they take him in, it’ll be over for the rest of his life.
But then, he doesn’t want to get into this suitcase either!
However, when comparing between the two choices, Tom chose the latter way.
Surrendering, he opened the suitcase and stepped on it. With his feet on his scalp, he laid down helplessly. He curled up and found that he was almost squished there that turned his face red.
“Why can’t you take a bigger box!” Tom was exasperated.
“Isn’t it suspicious if it’s too big?” The man has a point and reasoned out. “If you’re not fit and succeeded to pretend to be baggage, you won’t be investigated!”
“But how do I get in?”
“Let me help you.” The strange man tried to close the suitcase as he pressed Tom’s leg on his chest, showing no mercy on his hands.
“Oh, dear! Easy! Don’t squish me too much. Take it easy! Aah! ”
Finally, with a burst of screams, Tom was stuffed into the suitcase, then put in the trunk of the car. He was covered with other luggage and drove away.
They didn’t go back to the Capital’s villa but drove directly back to the Z City.
The journey time was longer while Tom’s body was curled up, no wonder he felt worse.
Time passed by and it only became more and more painful.
By the time they arrived at the Z City, the man sent by Saxon opened the suitcase and saw Tom had fainted.
The strange man brought a bucket of ice water and threw it in his face. Because of the cold, Tom woke up groaning in pain.
He climbed up hard and tried several times to get up.
When he looked to where he was, he didn’t understand the environment he’s in.
Located in the highland of the Z City was a beautiful mansion with brown glass walls on the outside of the hall. It was almost noon, and the light was in full beam. The rays refracted on the glass, and there was a dazzling light. But then, the house seemed uninhabited.
It seems to be empty as if no one lives there.
“Where is this?” As soon as Tom asked, he saw Clare came out of it.
Clare slapped Tom in the face as soon as he saw him. She came forward and beat him.
The slap wasn’t enough as she also hit him for the second time.
The instinctive reaction of Tom was to push her away. “What the hell? Are you out of your mind?”
“You killed my mother! Tom Parker, are you still human? My mother is so kind to you!”
“What? Is that what you think? I didn’t kill your mother. She killed herself.” Tom said carelessly as if it was not his wife but an ant who died. “Where is this place? Why are you here? Whose mansion is this?”
Clare ignored him and called the police as soon as she picked up her phone.
She saw all the news, and the police were arresting him. This kind of murderer that has no conscience, Clare decided that she must let him be punished by the law.
However, her phone was taken away before it was dialed out.
The man who took the phone was a strange man.
“Miss Parker, he’s your father anyway, so it’s not appropriate.”
“How dare you snatched away my phone? Believe me or not, I’ll report him to the police. Tell it to Saxon!” Clare was enraged and it was evident to the look on her face. She was livid and loath reflected in her eyes.
The strange man didn’t speak, let alone give back her phone.
All that she could do now was to glare at him coldly. Tom smirked, turned, and went in.
The strange man looked at the culprit. “Boss Parker, come with me to see Mr. Raglan.”
Tom followed the strange man into the mansion.
He trailed behind him not to the direction Clare just went, but to the lower floor.
The design of the mansion was a little different.
It has an underground floor, it seemed that the first floor was the middle floor as opposed to how it was seen outside. The mansion has a total number of three floors.
Saxon’s subordinate took Tom, not to one of the three floors, but led him to the basement under the ground floor instead. The corridor that they’ve passed went the darker and eerie. The farther they went into, the colder the temperature became. Frightened, Tom couldn’t help but feel creeped out.
“Where are we going?” Tom followed and asked.
The man never looked back and apathetically replied. “You’ll know when we arrive there.”
“Is Saxon in here?”
“Yes, Mr. Raglan is waiting for you,” Strange answered politely his question.
When he pushed open the iron door at the end of the corridor, Tom saw a man stood enigmatically with his back against them. He observed his figure and knew that it was Saxon.
What made him chill was not only the low temperature in the room but also all kinds of tools hanging from the barbed wire on the wall. It was embellished with all kinds of knives, ropes, tweezers, hammers, saws, chainsaw, and other tools for torture,
