Veronica Parker yawned and said, “I am going to the TV station tomorrow.”
“Are you spying on me?” he asked.
She was about to close her eyes. Her nerves awakened when she heard his question.
“When did I spy on you?” she angrily said in a low voice.
“That’s what Lily said.”
Veronica Parker was smothered and couldn’t say the child is lying.
“Lily misunderstood what she saw. I heard a car going back and forth so I stick my head to look. How could it be spying?”
Nick Cage stared at her and said, “I’m sorry.”
“When will I…” Veronica Parker wasn’t able to continue when Nick Cage kissed her.
The tyrannical mood has shifted to an amorous one.
Veronica Parker couldn’t resist. It would be erotic if the children were not there.
Nick Cage took her to the other room where they made whoopee.
He finally learned to be patient and he deserved to be rewarded.
She woke up early the next day and prepared to leave.
Her plate was full at work, but she must do something more important.
She must go to the villa to get a DNA sample from Tom Parker. What if he was not there? Could she go to his room and looked for a hair strand? It was not a good idea. Sarah North could be at home.
Looked for the cup he used for his morning tea? It should be washed by now.
Her morning was full packed. She returned to her office at noon when her cellphone rang.
She took it from her bag and saw the caller was Rachel Hamilton.
“What do you need?” Veronica Parker said.
“What’s wrong with you?” said Rachel Hamilton.
“Why did you call me?” Veronica Parker was bewildered with Rachel Hamilton’s ill humor.
“Clare Parker! She did it on purpose!” said Rachel Hamilton.
Veronica Parker turned her computer on
There was an article about Clare Parker who pulled the courage to admit what she did.
The article said she and Rachel Hamilton planned everything. She said they put a drug on the champagne and she accidentally drank it.
It was full of remorse.
She knew why Rachel Hamilton went mad.
Clare Parker admitted it was her fault but drawn in Rachel Hamilton’s name.
It was like she planned her own death, but someone must be accused.
Rachel Hamilton must think how she could cover this up.
“What do you think?” Rachel Hamilton asked angrily.
“I will ask her to tell the truth,” she said.
“You should have done that in the first place!”
“I didn’t expect she will pull you to this. It was not easy for her to admit the truth.”
“I shouldn’t be involved with this! Everyone will make poke fun at me!” Rachel Hamilton was really angry.
“What do you want her to do? Clare Parker is now suffering. Isn’t that what you want?” Veronica Parker said in a warm tone.
“I…” Rachel Hamilton was speechless. She was relieved to know Clare Parker admitted what she did was wrong, but she was not happy when she dragged her name on it.
Clare Parker’s career would go downhill because of what she did.
“I have to go. I am busy,” Veronica Parker ended the call.
She doesn’t want to talk to Rachel Hamilton about it anymore. She deserved what happened.
She closed the article and called Tom Parker, “Can we have dinner together?”
Tom Parker was surprised. He immediately agreed and asked, “Where would you like to eat? I’ll make the reservation.”
“You decided,” Veronica Hamilton said.
“Okay then. I’ll make a reservation to the best restaurant in the city.”
“Okay”, she ended the call.
It was around seven in the evening when they met. They went to a fancy restaurant close to Veronica Parker’s office.
“The food here is the best in the city. You can ask Nick to have dinner with you here sometime,” Tom Parker said.
“What made you think he would eat here with me?” she replied.
“I’m sure he would love to”, Tom Parker said.
“What do you like about Sarah North?” Veronica Parker intentionally asked.
Tom Parker sighed and said, “I used to think she was cute, but her temper is getting worse. Probably because of her age.”
Veronica Parker thought what the temper has to do with age. She knew he liked her because they were rich.
Tom Parker doesn’t really like Sarah North. The old lady would get mad if she knew this.
“I didn’t expect you will ask me out for dinner”, Tom Parker said to her.
She looked into his eyes as if she was delighted to have dinner with him, but the truth was she did this for something else.
“I just wanted to know how Clare was doing. To tell you the truth, I was happy with what happened to her. She was trying to seduce Nick from me.”
“You shouldn’t worry about it. You already won Nick’s heart. The article she released to the internet would have a great impact on her, everyone was talking about it. She looked really tough, but I know deep inside her was suffering,” Tom Parker said.
“I still need to guard myself from her,” she said.
“Oh! There is one more thing. Your wedding anniversary party was moved earlier. Why? Did you do that in purpose to set me up?” she asked.
“I don’t know about it,” he answered in surprise; “Did someone tell you I did it on purpose?”
“Yes. That is why I wanted to hear it from you.”
“Everything looked like it was planned, but why would I set you up?” Tom Parker has a point.
She doesn’t really want to know what happened. She was just making a conversation. She knew her father has nothing to do with it.
“I am your dad and I cherish you for the rest of my life,” he said.
“Well, I want the North family to get out of the way,” she said, “The presence of Sarah North and her daughter threatens me. I wanted to ask Nick to do it, but it might hurt the company. You’ve already put so much effort to it and that can’t be wasted.”
