She liked this program very much, probably because there were six cute children in the family.
After five o’clock, the director went to the Entertainment Department to look for Veronica Parker.
Veronica Parker was still busy when the director approached her.
“Are you still busy? Are you ready to go now?” The director asked.
“Where to?” Veronica Parker wondered.
“Did you forget about the banquet held by the biggest investor in the TV station?” The director asked.
Veronica Parker remembered and said with a smile, “Yes, I totally forgot!”
“You are now a celebrity in Taiwan, and investors have personally called to invite you. When you get there, you will definitely catch the attention of everybody.” The director informed her. !”
Deep inside, Veronica Parker did not want to go at all. But the investors were so enthusiastic about the banquet.
When Veronica Parker arrived at the hotel where the banquet was held, she didn’t expect to see Rachel Hamilton. She was having a conversation with the investors. Then she remembered, Rachel Hamilton was the spokesperson of the investors. As she walked inside, some investors immediately beamed at her. Veronica Parker greeted and smiled at them politely. She spoke to some of them for a few minutes then went on.
Rachel Hamilton saw Veronica Parker and was displeased. It occurred again to Rachel Hamilton how much she hates her.
While she was talking to the investor, a voice next to her interrupted them and said, “It’s nice to see you again.”
Veronica Parker was shocked for a moment. Then she looked back and met with the raging eyes of Clare Parker.
Veronica Parker was unhappy when she saw Clare Parker, but she concealed her reaction.
The investor was surprised and asked, “Do you know each other?”
“More than that. Veronica Parker is my sister.” Clare Parker confirmed.
“Oh, what a coincidence? I’m now with the Parkers!” The investors laughed. Veronica Parker asked casually, “I just didn’t think you would know Clare Parker?”
“There has been some business changes recently, Miss Parker. But your sister is a strong woman, and she is very good at doing business.” Investors praised Clare Parker.
After that, Veronica Parker politely excused herself and left them talking.
Veronica Parker sat down on a sofa in the banquet hall and thought about leaving a little later.
She watched Clare Parker as she mingles with the male guests.
She looked around but didn’t see Rachel Hamilton. She wondered if she left already or was just somewhere.
At the moment, Rachel Hamilton went to the lounge. She brought two glasses of champagne with her then placed them on the table in front of her. She took the first glass then melted the powder that Clare Parker gave her. Nobody would have guessed that she placed something on it because it was colorless and tasteless. The other glass on the other hand was just for distraction. It was Clare Parker’s plan and she just asked Rachel Hamilton to do it for her. They both wanted to see Veronica Parker suffer and embarrass herself. Then Nick Cage would completely dislike her.
They had the chance so they arranged for Veronica Parker’s downfall.
They wanted Veronica Parker to drink the wine on that glass so she would lose her manners and act silly. Then reporters would take pictures of her that would later destroy her credibility.
When that happens, it would be easy for them to lure Nick Cage. When Rachel Hamilton went out of the lounge, she saw the waiter pouring champagne on the glasses. She approached him then placed the wine for Veronica Parker on the tray and asked him to give it to her.
The waiter looked down and saw Veronica Parker sitting in the distance.
The waiter didn’t ask much and he went to Veronica Parker together with the wine glass on the tray.
Rachel Hamilton walked into the banquet hall and acted as if she didn’t do anything.
At this moment, there was a commotion at the door.
Veronica Parker looked over and froze when she saw the figure walking into the banquet hall.
She was surprised to see Nick Cage.
People were amazed and just looked at him as he approached the banquet hall. Everybody was curious. All eyes were on him.
Rachel Hamilton was also shocked when she saw Nick Cage.
His presence immediately frightened her. She looked at the waiter approaching Veronica Parker then hurriedly snatched the champagne away.
She was afraid to put it on the table for fear of being mistaken drunk.
She turned her head and saw Clare Parker gazing at Nick Cage. She walked towards her and handed the champagne over.
Claire Parker seemed like she was daydreaming about Nick Cage and took the wine subconsciously.
Veronica Parker did not want to look glamorous and wanted to conceal her presence so she decided to wear run-of-the-mill clothes to the party. After all, she just went to the party out of respect to the director.
Nick Cage appeared into the crowd not far from her. He was not even looking at her.
He was surrounded by investors and business tycoons when she found a perfect chance to hide.
She covered her face and run towards the ladies’ room.
She thought that there was a small chance he knew she was here, and she couldn’t imagine what might happen if she would not get out of the crowd’s sight.
She knew everyone at the party would notice her because of the couple watch incident.
Veronica Parker entered the door to the ladies’ room. She walked towards the mirror and looked at herself.
Everything looked perfect except her distraught face.
She knew hiding in the ladies’ room for the rest of the night was not a good choice, but how could she go out with Nick Cage around.
It was not long when the door opened. She was anxious to know who went in.
She was stunned when she saw his reflection from the mirror. It was Nick Cage!
“What are you doing here?” she asked while she walked towards each of the cubicles to check if anyone else was there.
“Why are you here?” he asked while gazing at her.
“Get out of here! This is the ladies’ room!” she was angry.
Someone might come in anytime. If that happened, he would surely be called a pervert.
She walked towards Nick Cage and was about to push him out of the door when he grasped her shoulders and pushed her against the wall.
She was stunned by his handsome and intimidating face.
“You haven’t answered my question, yet,” he asked with a squinted eye.
She recovered from the awkwardness of the situation and said, “Am I not allowed to go to the ladies’ room?”
“Okay,” he smirked.
“I really need to use the toilet. Can you just wait outside? You will be the headline on the news tomorrow if someone sees you here. I know you are aware that a lot of reporters are outside”, she said.
Nick Cage stared at her for a while then let her go, “Let’s go out together.”
She breathed and walked towards the cubicle, “Can you go out first?”
“No. I’ll wait for you here,” he said.
He never listened. She glared and decided to let him wait inside the ladies’ room. There was a door in the cubicle so she would just keep the door locked.
Both Veronica Parker and Nick Cage were not in the hall. Would Rachel Hamilton and Clare Parker notice?
