Back in the room, Clare Parker sat there, took the phone next to her, and dialed a number. When the person on the other line answered, she spoke and said, “Veronica Parker already knows about the wedding anniversary.”
“As expected, she is smarter than you.” Toby Cage responded.
Clare Parker’s face turned red because Toby Cage insulted her. So she angrily asked him, “Where are you?”
“We pushed through with the banquet and the plan was canceled.” She added.
When he heard that, everything made sense to him, and figured that the continuation of the party was just to reassure Veronica Parker.
By the end of the day, Veronica Parker went straight back to her apartment. She wasn’t ready to go to the banquet nor was she willing to get an expensive gift for Sarah North. She would rather spend her money for herself or the children. She wouldn’t have second thoughts if it was for them. Not long after arriving at the apartment, she received a call from Tom Parker. “Where are you now Veronica? How come I didn’t see you?” He asked.
“Oh, I went home already. I’m so sorry but I’m not coming.” She politely responded.
“Not coming? Why is that so?” He inquired.
“Well, I’m a little tired from work. So I went home early to have a rest.” She explained.
“Alright then, you rest well!” He bid goodbye and hung up.
After her conversation with Tom Parker, Veronica Parker decided to cook noodles and waited for Sarah North to call her again.
Noodles were cooked already, but she didn’t receive any call from her.
She was a bit surprised that she didn’t hear anything from them again and that was very unlikely of them not to ask her questions.
Tom Parker and Sarah North made up after a quarrel overnight, and the wedding anniversary party continued.
Veronica Parker thought there was some big hole waiting for her to jump into and she didn’t want to do that. She was always ready to come up with all sorts of reasons just to get rid of it. But neither did she expected Tom Parker to call and check on her. Something’s not right and she’s going to find out about it.
Veronica Parker won’t allow that family to fool her.
The wedding anniversary was Toby Cage’s idea. And Clare Parker thought it was her chance to benefit out of it. But she was mistaken and something went wrong.
Toby Cage was unpredictable and people never expected something outrageous from him.
Veronica Parker was just waiting for his next move. But she hoped too that he won’t be ruthless towards her.
She just presumed some thoughts while enjoying her noodles.
Veronica Parker used to think that being alone was lonely. But now that it’s quiet and comfortable, she felt strange.
She snapped back and decided to just enjoy her noodles, probably watch a movie or maybe play games on her phone. She has nothing to worry about because she’s all by herself.
While enjoying it, the door was unexpectedly pushed open by somebody from outside. She instantly felt frightened so she immediately stood up and took a deep breath. Her face turned pale when she saw a shadow slowly approaching her.
Nick Cage glanced, slammed the door, and came over. Then he sat down opposite the dazed Veronica Parker.
One leg was folded, his hand was casually resting on his one knee then he lazily looked at Veronica Parker.
It took Veronica Parker several seconds to react and to swallow the rest of the noodles. She was shocked to see Nick Cage. She couldn’t believe that he was actually there in front of her. So she asked, “What are you doing here?”
“Can’t I visit you?” He asked her with a straight face.
“That’s not what I meant.” She clarified.
Veronica Parker was devastated. When she went home, all she ever wanted was to rest and enjoy her alone time. But when Nick Cage came, she realized that her day would end differently.
She wanted to tell him to just go back to the Winter Villa and leave her alone. But she couldn’t. She wanted to avoid him. But all she could do now was face him and spend time with him. He left her no choice.
Nick Cage owns Winter Villa. Veronica Parker still couldn’t understand why he likes to show up every time she wants to spend some time alone. Her apartment was like the size of Winter Villa’s bathroom. So she just couldn’t understand what enticed Nick Cage to appear just like that. “Have you eaten yet?” Veronica Parker looked at the Nick Cage and asked.
“Just finish your noodles and, don’t worry about me.” Nick Cage smiled and responded.
Veronica Parker frowned slightly. She also wondered if he even eats noodles. She picked up the fork and when she was about to put it in her mouth, he immediately went forward and snatched it away from her. She couldn’t believe that he could do such a thing. Without saying a word, he happily ate her noodles and swallowed as much as he could.
Veronica Parker was so dumbfounded that she froze and forgot to swallow the noodles in her mouth.
When Nick Cage ate the second mouthful of noodles, the other end of one of the pasta was in Veronica Parker’s mouth.
Veronica Parker was stunned and her big eyes stared at the round eyes of Nick Cage. His face turned red at the sight of her. For a moment, they don’t know whether to spit it out or to just swallow it all.
Veronica Parker felt a little disgusted by the thought of spitting the noodles out. She didn’t know how to escape the situation. Just before she had a chance to think of her next move, Nick Cage approached her.
Veronica Parker’s heart was racing and her body was shaking. Then the unexpected happened. She accidentally squirted the noodles and sprayed it all over his face. Nick Cage moved back and then sat on the sofa.
Veronica Parker was also shocked. She couldn’t believe that she did that to Nick Cage.
“Oh my, I’m so sorry Nick. It… it was an accident!” Veronica Parker explained. Her voice was shaking.
She couldn’t even look at him. She was too embarrassed to even approach him.
She felt so horrible and was worried that Nick Cage would get mad at her.
But she also thought that it was her noodles in the first place. He just took it and didn’t even ask her.
Then she looked at Nick Cage and saw him swallow the noodles left in his mouth. Then he joyfully licked the sides of his lips.
Nick Cage looked at Veronica Parker. He saw how terrified she was after what happened so he smiled at her and said, “Why don’t you just get me a towel?” “What? Get you a towel? What do you want to do with the towel?” She was confused for a moment.
He just stared at her and waited for her to realize why he asked for a towel.
Veronica Parker reacted and hurriedly got up to get the towel.
Veronica Parker hurriedly took the towel, crouched in front of Nick Cage, and presented it with both hands.
Nick Cage took the towel then wiped his face. He just looked at her while wiping his face and he noticed that it made her slightly uncomfortable.
Veronica Parker stayed near him and just waited for him to finish. She was still trembling and couldn’t say a word. She felt more uncomfortable because he was still looking at her.
Then he handed her over the towel.
“Are you done with it?” She asked.
“No. I want you to wipe my face for me.” He responded.
Her eyes grew bigger. She was astonished by his words.
“Why should I do that?” Veronica Parker was puzzled.
“You did it. So you wipe it.” He demanded.
Veronica Parker refused to do so and got angry at Nick Cage, “Who told you to eat my noodles? You just took it from me. Didn’t you say you just ate?”
He was not moved by her answer and was even more stubborn than fought with her.
“When did I say I ate?” Nick Cage asked with a straight face.
Veronica Parker suddenly realized that she was wrong.
“Well then, shall I cook more noodles for you?” She hurriedly offered.
Before Nick Cage could speak, there was a knock at the door.
Veronica Parker put down the towel and went to open the door.
After opening the door, she saw a group of people carrying food. She got out of the way for them and the staff went it. They carefully arranged the table and placed all the food that they brought.
The apartment was then filled with the aromatic scent of exquisite cuisine.
The food was set and so was the table. After doing their job, the staff went out one by one.
What just happen left Veronica Parker in awe. Then Nick Cage stood up, approached the table then sat down.
“Don’t you want to eat?” He politely asked her.
