Chapter 244 Constantly Thinking of Him

Book:My CEO Daddy Published:2024-8-9

“Hello, Secretary Tours. I was just having breakfast when you called and I didn’t notice it right away. Is there anything I can do for you?” Veronica Parker asked. As she spoke with Kay Tours, her mind was thinking about Nick Cage.
“It’s nothing important. I heard you’re staying with Tom Parker? When you get back, you will hear about Tom Parker’s investments. Is it okay for you to live there?” Kay Tours casually asked.
“Just staying here for a while.” Veronica Parker responded. Then she asked, “May I just ask, does Nick Cage know my number?”
“I don’t know. But I used to be your boss so I also have my sources.” He responded.
Veronica Parker thought it was Nick Cage who asked Kay Tours to call her. She realized that she was just overthinking about him.
“Did you inform Mr. Cage when you decided to stay here?” Kay Tours asked again.
“No, I didn’t,” Veronica responded. “The fact that I’m staying now with my father, I’m sure he won’t let me see the children.” She felt sad and depressed when she remembered the kids. “You can try to call Mr. Cage.” Kay Tours suggested. “You really think he won’t allow you to see them?” “I don’t know. I’m so confused. I don’t know what to do.” Veronica Parker sighed. “Anyway, I’ll figure it out later on.” Kay Tours smiled and said, “That’s good. I hope you see the children soon.”
She just smiled then hung up.
After her conversation with Kay Tours, she sat quietly and thought about Nick Cage again.
Holding her cell phone, she wanted to take the initiative to call Nick Cage. But she was also hesitant and worried that maybe he’ll get angry at her again. She knew Nick Cage so well. She could only expect the worst from him.
Kay Tours knocked on Nick Cage’s office.
He went inside and carefully placed the document in front of him and said, “Mr. Cage, please have a look.”
Nick Cage opened a page and his sharp eyes quickly examined it. He maintained a flat expression and was not moved by Kay Tours’ presence. “Mr. Cage, I just called Veronica Parker.” Kay Tours watched his words and said, “She wanted to call you but she was shy. I tried my best to convince her to call you but I don’t know if it’ll work.” Nick Cage was shocked by what Kay Tours told him. He didn’t expect him to do such a thing. He sighed and spoke coldly, “Don’t you ever do that again.”
“I… I didn’t mean to upset you, Mr. Cage.” Kay Tours apologized.
After the document was signed, Kay Tours took it and turned it away.
“What else did she say?” The sound of deterrence came from behind.
Kay Tours turned around and stood upright. “Well, not much. I just checked on her.” Kay Tours answered.
“Get out.” Nick Cage ordered.
“Right away, Mr. Cage.” Kay Tours hurriedly left Nick Cage.
He realized that if he stayed there any longer, he should absorb all of Nick Cage’s anger. But he also knew that Nick Cage was struggling and was having a hard time being away from Veronica Parker.
When Veronica Parker came out of the TV station, a driver came over and said, “Miss Parker, I’m your driver. Leonard. Mr. Parker asked me to pick you up.”
Veronica Parker glanced at him and turned to call Tom Parker. “You sent me a driver?”
“Oh yes, dear. I realized that it’ll be difficult for you to run back and forth. So there, Leonard will be your driver.” Tom Parker proudly responded. “That was so thoughtful of you.” Veronica Parker uttered and pretended to smile. At that time, Sarah North and the children were at the dinner table.
Tom Parker tried to patch things up between him and his family. He has done a lot of progress and his family noticed it. “How was your stay here so far?” Sarah North asked.
Veronica Parker was obviously having a hard time but she has to play the part and pretend like she was doing great. She swallowed the food in her mouth and said, “Not bad.”
Sarah North glanced at Tom Parker, snorted, and said, “Although your father is unreliable, he is very attentive to his daughter.”
Tom Parker smiled and hurriedly picked up some food for her. “You should eat. Here, do you want to eat fish?” Without any response from Sarah North, he picked up a piece of fish and put it into her bowl.
Veronica Parker ate her own food in silence.
Tom Parker turned to face Veronica Parker and said, “By the way Veronica, tomorrow, we’re going to have a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of our company. I’d like to invite Nick Cage. What do you think?”
Veronica Parker drew down her eyes. She didn’t know how to react.
Tom Parker had it all planned. He knew how to catch people’s attention. If Nick Cage presides over the ribbon-cutting ceremony, it won’t be an ordinary celebration anymore in the city.
Tom Parker knew he couldn’t get Nick Cage, so he just asked Veronica Parker to do it for him.
“I’ll see what I can do. I’ll call him later.” Veronica Parker said.
Tom Parker smiled. “I knew you’d say yes. It’s just a piece of cake for you! Here, eat some more.” He happily offered.
Sarah North interrupted, “She said she’ll call. But she didn’t say Nick Cage would come, right?”
Tom Parker looked at Veronica Parker and asked, “You think he’d come?”
“I’m not sure. If he’s busy, he definitely can’t. And besides, you told me about it just now. When I was still working at King Group, Nick Cage would schedule his meetings a week early.” Veronica Parker responded.
“Then call him after dinner.” Tom Parker instructed.
“Ok.” Veronica Parker answered coldly.
Clare Parker joined their conversation and suspiciously asked Veronica Parker, “Since Nick Cage cares about you so much, why don’t you just stay in Winter Villa? Do you think you could invite him over and take part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony?” Veronica Parker looked straight at her and responded, “I didn’t say he would come. Did I?”
Clare Parker was paralyzed by Veronica Parker’s rhetorical question.
“Since I’m staying here, I believe I’m part of the family. Not to mention the fact that I have joined the company. Of course, I’ll contribute and do my part. But if you think I can’t invite Nick Cage, why don’t go and do it yourself?” She challenged her. “You seemed so unsure about everything. And also, what makes you think Nick Cage would agree and he’ll give way to the development of Southwest District? Are you kidding us?” Clare Parker asked with a judgmental tone. Veronica Parker glanced at Tom Parker with a conciliatory smile on her face.
“Clare Parker, do you want Nick Cage to give way or not?” Veronica Parker rests her chin on one hand and looked straight into Clare Parker’s eyes.
“That would highly depend on your ability to convince him.” Clare Parker answered directly.
“Well, I’m sure Veronica will do her best. We are a family. We should trust each other, right?” Tom Parker spoke and tried to pacify the situation.
“I lost my appetite. Enjoy your dinner.” Veronica Parker threw her spoon and fork, got up, and left.
Tom Parker pushed his glass and said helplessly, “Where are you going? Oh, come on. Veronica, you have to do it for the family. Please do it for me. Once you’re done convincing him, you can do whatever you want. I won’t interfere.” Elton Parker sneered. “Does your own daughter know you’re so insidious?”
