Nick Cage stared at her with dusky eyes. The ambiance inside the car was unbearable.
There was silence. He took his cellphone out from his pocket and dialed a number, “Tell all the employees to leave the TV station..
Veronica Parker looked out the car window and glanced at the building where the TV station was. Each window was covered by privacy film, so it was impossible for her to see what was happening inside.
She took her eyes away from the building and pretended to care less.
She was worried that he might be suspecting her. She could not think of the reason why he would ask all the employees to leave.
His cellphone rang. She wondered what news the caller has told him this time. Was it about the watch?
The car door opened. Nick Cage went out, followed by Veronica Parker. They walked towards the entrance.
There were no people around. It was so hushed that she could hear their footsteps.
Every sound of their footstep was like a thump to her heart. She was like a cat on a hot tin roof as they get closer to the office.
She felt his tyranny as she opened the door.
She went to the desk and opened the drawer. She took a bracelet out and put it on the table. She scoured on the drawer to look for the watch.
“I can’t find the watch! I put it here with the bracelet,” she anxiously said.
Nick Cage felt something odd about her. His anger grew as if he wanted to kill someone.
“You can’t find it?”, he said in a threatening look.
“Yes. I put it in this drawer. It doesn’t make sense. The bracelet is here but not the watch”, she mindlessly said as she continued to cast around the drawers.
“Are you sure?” he grabbed her wrist. It was so tight.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t expect to lose it. I will try to find it somewhere…”
She wasn’t able to finish what she was saying when Nick Cage took his phone and showed her a picture of a woman wearing the watch.
She couldn’t believe what she saw. She was blown away.
He stared at her. His eyes were torturous.
The woman in the photo was Rachel Hamilton. Knowing her, she would show-off the watch regardless of how she got it.
“Why is she wearing my watch?”
Veronica Parker was confused. She thought with the money Rachel Hamilton has, she could easily buy a watch like hers.
He pulled out his cellphone. There were only two designs of this watch, one was for males and the other one for females.
She looked at Nick Cage. His expression showed he knew it was her watch.
They went to check for the CCTV footage. She didn’t see Rachel Hamilton around, but there was one person acting suspiciously around that time. It was Bella.
She could only think of one thing Bella stole the watch and gave it to Rachel Hamilton.
Did Rachel Hamilton take the picture of the watch and send it to Kay Tours right after she got it? Or maybe Kay Tours just saw her photo on social media?
Rachel Hamilton knew the watch was a gift from Nick Cage. She knew that posting its photo on social media would alert him.
This woman would absolutely have a great future in the entertainment industry.
She was not sure if Bella was the one who stole and gave the watch to Rachel Hamilton, but she was certain of one thing Rachel Hamilton was an idiot!
Veronica Parker was stressed to the point that she lost control and fell into Nick Cage’s arms.
There was silence. She could hear her augmented breathing and heartbeat.
“Why are you agitated?” he asked.
Every nerve in her body flexed as she looked into his eyes.
“I lost my watch.”
She knew Nick Cage was an extremely dangerous man.
“I didn’t want to lose it but…” She was not able to finish what she was about to say when he pinched her chin. His face was covered by silhouettes.
“Well…”, he uttered.
She was worried that he would ask her incessantly about it, she just closed her eyes and thought she would get it through.
She was stop dead when Nick Cage pressed his lips against her. He thought the kiss was not fervent enough, so he put his right hand around her nape and pressed it forward.
Their kiss was long-drawn-out.
Nick Cage let go of her lips. He looked at her with his feisty eyes and said in a hoarse voice, “If you lose something, just tell me.”
He does not blame her for losing her watch.
They decided to go home.
Veronica Parker was still confused. A lot of things were running through her mind. The car stopped. She realized they were in the basement of her apartment building.
“Aren’t you getting out of the car?” he said in a tight-lipped.
She came to her senses, get off the car, and said, “Goodbye!”
She walked towards the elevator without looking back at him and pressed the button up. When the door opened, she immediately went in and took a deep breath as the door closes and his car was slowly vanishing from her sight.
She was completely relieved when the elevator door closed. She instantly felt weakness on her legs.
She entered the apartment, locked the door, and turned on the light. She sneaked into the balcony and saw his car left.
She was convinced that he really let her go. But why?
Veronica Parker knew his personality well. He would not let her go that easy after losing the watch he gave her. He would not stop asking until he was convinced that she was not lying.
This was surprising for her.
At the Winter Villa.
Kay Tours arrived at 10:00 PM. He parked the car and walked straight to the hall.
Bob came over to greet him, “Secretary Tours!”
“Where is Mr. Cage?” he asked Bob.
“He is in the study room.”
“Thank you.”
He walked towards the study room and knocked twice as he reached the door.
“Come in,” said Nick Cage. He was sitting behind his desk, reviewing the company reports he just got.
“Mr. Cage, I got it back.” Kay Tours said as he carefully put the watch on the table.
It was the watch he gave to Veronica Parker.
Nick Cage set aside the documents and picked up the watch. He stared at it and said, “I thought it will be difficult to get this back.”
Kay Tours laughed, “She’s an actress. It’s easy to keep her busy.”
A couple of days passed.
Rachel Hamilton was in Africa, losing her temper. She was upset about the reluctance of her environment and was angry about staying at a 2-star hotel.
She was screaming and throwing the things in the hotel room.
Her agent couldn’t do anything to keep her calm, “Can you stop screaming! What you’re doing is useless!”
“They shouldn’t take the scene here in Africa!” she angrily said.
“Was it really because of the Africa scene or is it because of what happened to your watch,” said the agent.
It was unlucky to become Rachel Hamilton’s agent. She always breaks things when she loses her temper.
“It’s just a watch! I am upset they brought me to this kind of place! I am sure Veronica convinced Nick to do this to me! I’m his fiance!” she shouted.
